The vIRGin

Edition #1 - April 30, 2007 - May 6, 2007

Cheers for the first edition of The vIRGin, name suggested by satyreyes! In the future, we'll announce birthdays here as well-- once you all let me know whether birthdays should be in advance, or after the fact. Please keep any discussion of what you'd like to see in the discussion thread.

This week, we've had quite a few artistic posts in just about every forum. Our latest exquisite corpse has been finished; Epi_lepsia, KTK, Teapot, and Emiemipoemi have posted new non-SKU art; new SKU fanfics have been posted by Alithea, angelicreation, myself, and beautifulpanther; new SKU fanart has been posted by beautifulpanther, with a preview from Maarika, and another artist's fanart shared with us by beautifulpanther; Alexandra has posted a poetry thread; and last, beautifulpanther has written us some nice Juri/Shiori smut. It's been a great week for writers and readers especially this time around! All you artists must be busily at work. To top all of this off, while it's not J's, he has posted a (NWS) video for the Star Trek fans. Hilarious! emot-keke

We've also had some interesting discussion of racism this week; it's great to see what everyone's viewpoints are, and what difference your location makes to the kinds of things you see. Thought provoking in a different way, we've got a couple of people translating dirty things into German right now-- for a good time, go here.

More serious news: SleepDebtFairy has pulled up more information on the pet food scare, and I suggest you all read it now. Also serious, Emiemipoemi needs help from anyone going to UCLA, as she hasn't been able to contact a friend of hers. Please, if anyone can help, I'm sure she'd appreciate it.

For those of you who want a rose seal ring, TenjouUsagi is still selling them! We've had a few sales show up on the forums, so if anyone wants me to announce their sale here, just let me know.

It's been a rough ride for Hinotori's roleplaying thread, and she's is now looking for a co-DM for her game. If you have any interest, please contact her! Also, if you're interested in dueling for Razara, the Poptart Bride, go to the dueling thread and make your challenge!

And I've saved the best part for last-- you guys. ExpositionFairy is back after a long bout of no net plus surgery, Shattered has taken a swing back around the forums to manwhore all over the place (I have it on good authority that he's a bit busy with real life right now)(also, no link because I really do mean all over IFD at least), beautifulpanther has gained herself a harem as a direct result of posting pics in the non-suited pics thread, along with dollface, frosty, and Hinotori. Start here for the hot. beautifulpanther has also posted pics of her tattoos, along with corpsegoddess. Check it out!

And from my end of the world... I've spent most of my time at work this week, and most of my time at work has been spent making people laugh. I really have no idea how these things just work out so perfectly, but my supervisor is just the exact right kind of guy for me to play off, so it ends up that my end of the building is usually full of laughing people. I guess it just never occurs to anyone else to try and convince people to do the zombie dance from Thriller when you're bored. Or to sit there in the back of your training class saying only 'Duuuuuuuuude' and getting only replies of 'Duuuuuuuude' from the people around you. I just can't be serious at work, though. It's too boring. Besides, people like to laugh. We're all there to get a paycheck, sure, but that's no reason we can't sneak in some fun too.

Well then, until next week! Feel free to post anything I've missed, or commentary and observations of your own about the forums or life in general! Let's treat this a bit like a newspaper-- after all, that's kinda what it is. emot-keke

The World Seen from the Opera Glass
The Duels for Poptarts -- Edition #1, 22 April 2007 -- 7 May 2007
Reporting from the Duel Forest, BioKraze

"Greetings to our regular vIRGin readers! This is BioKraze, reporting upon the new sensation brewing in the Roleplaying Forum!

"With the recent talk of Duels, KissingT.Kiryuu created the Duel Forest (originally in the In Flagrante Delicto forum, now relocated by Yasha to the Roleplaying forum) so forumgoers could fight for the Power of Poptarts and the hand of Razara, the Poptart Bride. After four traditional duels, our own hyacinth_black has reigned as the Champion of the Duels!

"Beneath the eyes of Ends, SleepDebtFairy decided to arrange for a Burnt Poptart Seminar to be held in her own Sylphiechu Memorial Hall. A battle between Burnt Poptart Duelist ShatteredMirror and the Champion seemed inevitable...but in the end, neither could fulfill their duties. My status as having been the last one defeated was revoked so we would have the Champion, and I am now seeking for others willing to challenge me for the Power of Poptarts!

"If you have what it takes to claim the Power of Poptarts, PM me with the subject line Poptart Duel Challenge with your challenge! Or if you prefer to be a member of the elite Sylphiechu Fraternity, visit the Burnt Poptart Seminar! Good luck to our Duelists!"

Re: The vIRGin

Please note, this edition of The vIRGin has been postponed until I can get my shit together. Hopefully Monday night.

And just to explain a little bit, with my new hours at work I'm often not around at peak times on the forums, so Gio and I have decided to make satyreyes into a moderator to cover that bit of slack. He's shown exceptional judgment in the past, he's level-headed, and I think he's going to do a great job. Not that you guys need a bunch of modding; I just want there to be more points of contact in case anyone needs anything.

Discussion of this can go in the random thread in IFD for now... I need sleepytime or else tomorrow I will die a whole lot.

Re: The vIRGin

Edition #2 - May 7, 2007 - May 20, 2007

Whew! I know, I'm late, but you'll have to forgive me. I did go back through the last two weeks and collect up everything I thought notable, so here it is! This isn't in any sort of chronological order or anything. Deal. emot-tongue

Clarice has managed to make me cry my eyes out in pain with the first commercial she posted in this thread, which is ostensibly about a rival for movie!Akio but instead features dancing so bad that I had to iron my face out afterwards because it was all squinched up in mortifying embarassment. By the way, she'll be gone for a while because she won't have internet in her new place, so feel free to post your own embarrassing or funny commercials. Damn Kiwis. Emiemipoemi has much sexier news; her local theatre is putting on the theatre version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Anyone who's in the area should check it out and give them a big hand (or maybe tear off a corset or two, all in fun). And speaking of hot things, Gio has thanked us all for our donations to her surgery/plane ride fund by giving us hothot toaster pastry action. Everybody has so far agreed that she's sex in one of those hippie kerchief things and it was totally worth it for the slightly naughty picture. (I kid... I really want to thank you all for the help you gave her. Much love, seriously. etc-love)

Religious/psychic news! We've got a spoon bender in our midst! Alexandra, why don't you hold sessions and show us all how? Or you can chart your stars here! These are things Jerry Falwell would disapprove of, but he's dead and we've got a thread about it, including a video about why we're all going to burn in hell, by the Westboro Baptist Church. I've never laughed so hard in my life. Also, Hinotori, where were you? Our Notable Death Fairy didn't notify us! What do we pay you for anyway? emot-tongue

On the art front, we've got emiemipoemi, dollface, Maarika, and beautifulpanther posting their art here for us to drool over. Also on the art front, Stormcrow has shared his secret recipe for strata! Yes, food is art. Don't argue with me until you've had a good shiraz and a bitter dark chocolate. And while you think about that, take a look at some of this beautiful scenery, or perhaps watch Christopher Walken dance like a god. They're both totally worth it. Thanks, hya!

Or, if you're the self-absorbed type (and we know we all are cool) why not tell us all about your horrible deformities (I kid, I kid)? Or find out whether you're a hipster? Or maybe even find out your D&D alignment? Or tell us about your name! Maybe buy a ring? Or, you can go gawk at the n00bs who've just watched SKU and don't know what's going on and look down on them. Cause, y'know, that's what you do when you know more than other people, am i rite? Oh, is that just me, then? emot-redface

On a more serious note, the forum's had it's first banning, so there's been all kinds of drama. BioKraze and I are in negotiations, so let's all just forget about this one for a while. Any questions, go here and read up first, then please ask me privately.

For SKU-related stuff, we've got a bunch of fanfics from beautifulpanther to start it all off. Damn! I wish I was half that prolific. She even found time for a poem! And art, in the art thread, along with a comic from Maarika, a ton of hot fanart from morosemocha, and allegoriest's Anthy fanart. Sweet! allegoriest also colored some more production sketches, and they're in the gallery thread with Gio's updates. You know, I'm actually working on that too... just very, very slowly. emot-frown

alexielnet posted a preview of her new site layout, and I think you should all go and see because it's pretty damn awesome. On the side of evil and the forces of darkness, Tamago and hya had a competition as to who could make the Kaoru twins look ugly, spawning this horrible abomination. Maybe someone should caption those? I'll have to ask if it's allowed in the caption thread, which is still going... since near the beginning of the forum. *snif snif* I feel so sentimental. I hate that! To wash out my brain, I had to watch Corpsegoddess's fixed Sexy Back video, starring our (my!) favorite redhead. And then I had some etc-wankgirl time over a discussion of Akio and lies, and it was fantastic. Wow. My libido needs to cool it, I think. And the best way is to douse it with funny, like the Ursula's Kiss dub info/fanfic, or the Sims pillowDuels with the bonus story starring me me me! Well, and other people. They're not as important. Then check out the dueling thread, where I've taken on the mantle of Ends of the Poptart, and read over Rainbow's fanfic!

It hasn't been as great a couple of weeks for you guys, I think. mocha got fired (in my opinion, unfairly), and Frosty ended up having to kill a kitty. SexingTouga is moving and won't have internet, just like Clarice, and KTK's hard drive blew a gasket and she can't get online. So naturally, I responded to all of this bad news by posting a thread about suicide. Nothing like bad news to follow up bad news, right? But as usual, lots of intelligent discussion, lots of personal experiences, and lots of support. But Sevelle apparently prefers to look at Tom Ford pictures instead, and while the guy's not my type, I don't blame Sevelle at all. If that's not your style, maybe Gio's brother is. He's clearly a pimp. Or there's always anime characters to fantasize about, and Corpsegoddess's new tattoo to admire. Shattered has taken to baiting people on Craigslist with his sexy bum, and morosemocha's given us the unsexy side of porn with her link to Confessions of a Porn Clerk. This reminded me of some rants I was reading at the time I first saw that blog, and I found that they weren't on the net anymore. So I posted them! Those rants make about as much sense as our One Word Story threads (archive here), of which we have started Chapter Four!

And, last but not least, we have some forum admin news. I care about you guys, so I've actually done some adminning-- trying to find out how you feel about privacy concerns with IFD, and making satyreyes into a mod so that there's someone you can get help from while Gio and I are away. I have to say once again that this is probably the awesomest forum I've ever seen, and I'm glad, every day, when I log on. I wouldn't want you to lose out on anything you might need. etc-love

But you are gonna lose out on a little article this week! Yasha needs sleep badly, or else she's gonna fall over and croak at work tomorrow! Sorry guys. emot-smile

The Duels for Poptarts -- Edition #7, 15 March 2008 -- 20 August 2009
Reporting from the Duel Forest, BioKraze

"Greetings to our regular vIRGin readers! This is BioKraze, reporting upon the Duel Forest in the Roleplaying Forum!

"The Duel Forest lost some of its vitality when reigning Champion ShatteredMirror forfeited the role of Champion to BioKraze, but now the Arena is tense once more, awaiting the outcome of a Duel between BioKraze and forum moderator satyreyes.

"Beneath the eyes of Ends, SleepDebtFairy has arranged for the Burnt Poptart Seminar to be held in her own Sylphiechu Memorial Hall. A winner has never emerged from Sylphiechu victorious, and the reigning Champion is determined by Ends of the Poptart!

"In other news, BioKraze has assumed many of the formal duties of Ends of the Poptart, and orchestrates the duels while Ends awaits the Final Duel. All challenges to a Champion may be made to BioKraze, who is obligated by the Laws of the Poptart Seal to deliver them unto the Champion.

"If you have what it takes to claim the Power of Poptarts, PM KissingT.Kiryuu or BioKraze with the subject line Poptart Duel Challenge with your challenge! Or if you prefer to be a member of the elite Sylphiechu Fraternity, visit the Burnt Poptart Seminar and speak with SleepDebtFairy! Good luck to our Duelists!"

Re: The vIRGin

Wow.  This is neato.  I know Yasha is uber busy, but it would be cool for someone to pick it back up.  Maybe we have some journalism majors on IRG with some spare time?

Hell, we could even divide the work.  Get a handful of IRGers, each one keeping track and writing up a segment covering a certain topic (Fanfic, fanart, sku analysis, regular anlaysis, random cool shit, politics, pictures, human interest, rule changes, humur, reviews of movies, manga and anime, rpgs, important news concerning IRG or the rules, etc. etc.).  They could appoint an editor and submit their mini articles through pm to them once a week or bimonthly, to be edited and arranged into a single post for this thread.

But this isn't my thread and so I'll shut up now.emot-gonk

Re: The vIRGin

Well, I'm a prof/tech writing major (meaning I'm better at systemizing information), but I think the idea is interesting and if anyone has any suggestions for what they'd want covered, I might be interested in doing something, even just a little bit, when I have the time.  It's a good and considerate idea, though, Light.  Smart thinking.

"Greetings to our regular vIRGin readers! This is BioKraze, reporting upon the Duel Forest in the Roleplaying Forum!

"After much time and deliberation, a victor has been chosen! Forum moderator satyreyes reigns triumphant over the Duel Forest, having secured the hand of the Poptart Bride from BioKraze. With the addition of the so-called Poptart Bridesmaids OnlyInThisLight and NajiMinkin, the subsequent duels are expected to flow in a much smoother manner. Only time will tell, though, if the Champion can remain engaged for long...

"Greetings to our regular vIRGin readers! This is BioKraze, reporting upon the Duel Forest in the Roleplaying Forum!

"Despite achieving victory in the last duel, forum moderator satyreyes has handed in the prestige of Champion for the power of the One Defeated.
