This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

Utena Poetry

I love to write poetry, even if it doesn't fit all the way, because it's just so much fun and such a release to get out what I'm feeling at the moment.  Tonight I was just fiddling around on the computer, listening to music, when some sad tunes from Utena started playing, and I got inspired to write something.  I love Anthy, and I can kind of relate to her... no, I don't sleep with my brother or have swords stabbing me, but... anyway. emot-keke;  Lemme know what you guys think!

Princes, Princesses, and the Others
I've been in love for what seems like eternity
...I fell in love with a prince.
He came to me one starry night...
And I haven't seen him since.

I've looked for him for days and days
And days turned into years.
And as I search the fantasy fades
For a moment with my tears.

Where is that perfect prince of mine?
Why has he left me here?
In a world that repels the very thought of me
And casts me out in fear.

I've since forgotten how the story ends
And what will become of me.
Will the witch be burned at the stake
Or will the princess be set free?

I met someone who noticed me
And her smile stirred my heart.
We laughed, we cried, we held on tight
And I thought we'd never part.

And as the walls collapsed and the sky crashed down
I realized I had a choice.
No longer nodding yes or no,
I could finally use my voice.

I made a decision one fateful day
To stop playing pretend.
I packed my things and said goodbye,
And set out to find my friend.

Re: Utena Poetry

Thank you, Yasha!  Yeah, I should have said that I wanted others to post their poetry as well.  I'd love to see a poem about each character or relationship! emot-keke

Re: Utena Poetry

wonderful poem poptart words are in a sensitive composition and allow to create a picture in mind emot-keke

well, I also wrote a poem long time ago, Ruka's feelings to Juri. Hope you like emot-keke

Hourglass

It’s the sword
That makes you free.
Whenever I watch you
I can see the two of us-

You are the one
I love forever.
But life is so ironic
And you love destruction.

I sacrifice myself
To you, just to
see your smile.
There’s fire in my lunges.

Time is running
The hourglass is broken.
You knew the answer
But you lost.

You lost to that girl
that hates you.
She can’t reply
Your feelings like I do.

You are mine
And I am yours.
We are one
Deep in my heart.

Time is running
And my heart beats faster.
Isn’t there a way
To show you truth?

You are beautiful
You are like me
And I’m like you.
I like to see you fight.

I want you to be free
Not the panther
Caged inside a shell.
I want you to run.

Time is running
Time is over.
I broke your heart
But now you’re running wild…

Re: Utena Poetry

i have no idea what format this is but this was my tribute to Dios and Anthy:

Striving to survive on the darkmost life

destroying everything or everyone in sight

it is the single thing that escapes the Empty Storm

or the Beginning Rays of the rising Sun

for an eternity suffered, in one moment's second

An Apollo's song

everlasting, yet fleeting in a single strife

the immortal dreams..known imminently to never com true

a single person

thousands of faces

monotonously on and on

it is told again and again..

for it is relentlessly waiting to be finally fulfilled

yet it is unknowing that its only destiny is to live

forever in the subconscious of our minds.

it lives immortal, only in the lives who are mortal

never reaching the heaven's ears,

for it had given that up long ago

A crimson rose

the bland forsaken past,

Now forgotten,

then worshiped..
