No...Kon Satoshi is my favorite anime director. This is just such a shock, especially given his young age and that there hadn't been any announcements of illness, etc. Someone said it was cancer, but I'll wait and see what ANN says is the official cause of death. Given that he was a giant of anime, I figure they'll provide as much info as they can come up with.
Perhaps tonight is the night to start finally watching Paranoia Agent.

This is awful! He was a brilliant director; Paprika and Perfect Blue are two of the works that really pulled me into deep, psychological anime. Such a tragedy.
Mylene, I think this would indeed be a good time to start on Paranoia Agent. I might have to dig around and find my copy of Perfect Blue for a rewatch.

For fellow Satoshi Kon lovers, check out the immensely disturbing trailer for Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan, which seems to be heavily influenced by Perfect Blue. Nerd fact of the day: Aronofsky bought the rights just so he could use the bathtub scene in Requiem for a Dream. So even though Kon has passed away, we'll be seeing his influence for years to come.

Takeshi Shudo died yesterday, at the age of 61. He was the creator of the original Pokemon series, as well as the first 3 movies.

He's going to go make heaven hilarious. 
I saw an interview with him where he talked about how he took care of himself, worked out, ate right, and lived it up because life is a big joke. It kept him alive to 84 years, and they were good years. Congrats on a life well-lived, sir.
