This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

Okay who is going to make the music video/post edited song lyrics?

Come on, now.

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

This is ridiculous.  You write a song for Revolutionary Lion Scar one time, and for the rest of your life you're hounded by people wanting you to write pastiches of Disney villain anthems for Utena characters.  It's the oldest story in the world.  emot-mad

Besides, I already used up all my Mikage rhymes a few months ago.  You're on your own this time.  emot-tongue

Oh honey, I wasn't particularly aiming that at you. Just anyone with a scant bit of poetic talent. Rhyming and being clever aren't my strong suit. emot-redface

Re: What if the SKU characters were supernatural/mythical creatures?

I don't think I've seen you try your hand at rhyming, Gio!  I'd be interested emot-biggrin

Meanwhile, of course I thought about Poor Unfortunate Souls, but the problem is that it's too on-the-nose.  You really just need to change five or ten words.  It would make a great AMV, not so great a song parody.  So I wrote this instead.

Oompa Loompa, doomp-a-dee doo,
I've got a perfect puzzle for you.
Oompa Loompa, doomp-a-dee dee,
If you are wise you'll listen to me!

What do you get when you're still a young pup,
Sad and confused, in a rush to grow up?
Do you propose that you'll take the Black Rose?
Do you think that will cure   your   woes?
(Hope you've studied swordsmanship!)

Oompa Loompa, doomp-a-dee da,
If you are patient, you will go far.
You will live in happiness, too,
Like the Oompa Loompa doomp-a-dee do!

(Doomp-a-dee doo!)

You are welcome to write your own for the others.  emot-rofl  Honestly, I'm amazed I've never thought of the Oompa Loompas in over ten years of watching the Black Rose Saga.  Now if only "kashira, kashira" had the same number of syllables as "Oompa Loompa."

Satyr, once again you win the internet! poptart

Back in the day I wrote an embarrasingly great amount of poetry but it was always unrhymed as well as quite awful.

The thought of Mikage singing makes me giggle crazily. And yes, Poor Unfortunate Souls is almost too apt.

Re: What if the SKU characters were supernatural/mythical creatures?

I could see Anthy as a rusalka, Miki as a sphynx, and Nanami as a sprite.

Is it odd that I can imagine Juri as part of the Wild Hunt?

Saionji would indeed be a perfectly broodsome Anne Rice-style vampire.  Mikage would also be amazing there - especially with an Armand/Daniel dynamic between him and Mamiya, and some bloodsucking action in all of the elevator interviews...

For the rest, I've got only vague guesses.  Interesting exercise, this thread!
