I agree! I'm somewhat of a whore for packaging, so this stuff is making me drool.

The new art is... I am stunned. I was expecting a little redo but not complete stuff like this.

And the fact it's Chiho Saito's art... Is this the first she's done of Shiori? o O

Never considered Saito's style appealing, found it too ostentatious even for a shoujo artist. I was a little disappointed that the new drawings weren't done by Shinya Hasegawa. If they were then I would consider getting the bluray even though I had just purchased the remastered DVDs.

Even if some characters look very stiff I can't help but drool over this new art! And those blu-ray covers!! Simply amazing!

So where is the hero that's gonna scan this new art for meeee

The art is gorgeous, but it makes me a little disappointed that they do this after Nozomi did such an amazing job with the DVDs. I am wondering if they'll bother with the Blu-rays. I'd certainly be in line to buy it!

It would be their first ever blu-ray release if they did. But what a way that would be to toss their hat into the HD ring! I'm ready to give them more money for Utena again yesterday.

Uhg I would be so happy if that happened. Though, Shawne Kleckner(the guy in charge of Nozomi) has said that he doesn't want to start putting out Blu-Rays any time soon. But that was before the Utena box set was released, so he might have changed his mind... I know a lot of people wanted Nadesico on Blu-ray because it got a new transfer but ended up disappointed it didn't get brought over here. Hopefully the ratio of DVDs/Blu-rays bought has increased

We could also birrage him with questions about it when he's on ANNCast and maybe that'll help the chances of it coming over here.

I'm glad this looks like a reasonably-sized turnout for a tasteful, quality anime.

Am looking forward to some Utena element/motifs in the upcoming Yuri Bear Storm series.

Seems to be a reprint at most, sadly. The volumes pictured are the bunko editions, which simply condense the original manga releases into smaller, thicker volumes, and the SKU manga bunkos were first printed back in 2003.

One thing that's nifty about bunko editions, though, is that many of them include short guest essays in the back. All of the SKU bunkos have one each: the first one's by J. A. Seazer, the second's by Tomoko Kawakami, and the last one's by... someone else whose name I don't know how to romanise. (I'm pulling this info from the back of another Saito manga that I already own, so I can't even do so much as copy/paste the kanji.) In any case, it would be cool if someone were able to translate those mini-essays, because I'm a little curious about them.

... With all that aside, damn, there's a whole bunch of merchandise in that photo that I wish I could have.

Is it bad that even being a poor jobless trans girl who just turned 18, and I'm thinking of trying to buy these box sets? I think that Utena is worth $400-$500...
