This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
I'm really glad Steven Universe exists, it's so wonderful. Just the art and the characters and the representation and aaaa I just love it all. Second off I would probably not have discovered RGU otherwise. I had no idea it existed until I learned SU took inspiration from it, and I'm very glad I did because I love it just as much and it's been a really positive influence on me.
(that last bomb though thank you crewniverse for giving us cotton candy garnet and more pearls, i can't wait until it returns again)

I haven't seen any episodes of Steven Universe, but I just saw this video, and I'm completely in love. I really want to watch this now.
Edit: I logged into the Cartoon Network website, watched Season 1 Episode 9, and was already crying by 7:30 in. I love this show.

That song is awesome, and the whole episode is really good too.
There is just so much in this show.
You can tell it was made by someone who grew up watching cartoons and anime and wanted to do right by the medium.

New Steven Universe merch!
Not sure how great they'll be. My friend has the big Funko Pearl and she said the paint job on it sucked. But I gotta have that Lapis and Lion.. :X I hope they're not too expensive. I don't really like blind bag merchandise.

Wow what's with those derp faces..

Yeah I don't really like their faces either. I'm not sure why they went that route, the bigger figure faces are cuter: http://www.cartoonnetworkshop.com/produ … mp;from=fn Well, except for Steven who is creepy as hell... Anyway, I hope we get some better figures soon but for now these will have to do I guess.
In other news, a longer version of the end theme:

Yeah, I will probably pass on the blind boxes unless they improve the art; those are cringeworthy. I typically like blind boxes and such, but not when they are as costly as Funko.

Awesome! Still waiting on Garnet's glasses and Gem themed jewelry and pendants.

Yes!!
Not only that it's coming back in June apparently. So far off, but at least we have a general time period now.

I am so jealous of people just now getting into Steven Universe. They have 70+ episode to watch for the very first time, and here we are thirsty and hoping that CN will give SU at least a weekly schedule for the new season.

Actually I'm not that jealous of new fans because so many things have been spoiled for them! I started watching right before [Ruby and Sapphire's first appearance.] Now there's so much fanart of them that the whole mystery from before is gone, everyone knows them and who they are going into the series...

That's great news.
Something that strikes me about this show is the relative lack of tertiary sex characteristics. I find it refreshing. But I haven't watched many cartoons made recently. Is this particular to Steven Universe, or have all the cartoons been doing characters that way lately?

I don't know so much about others cartoon these days (although I will say Wander Over Yonder does a good job in that respect) but SU really excels in the diversity of the cast and character design.

I like these a little more than the drawing.

The next episode airs in an hour and a half!
I saw the leaked part, or at least that's what the video description said it was. There certainly isn't a lot of cartoony one-off stuff in this show. When something gets introduced, it comes back later. This show is amazing.

Wow. The power of love and friendship, man.

The smiley Pearl one is lovely!

I just used my parents' TV to watch all of Princess Rizu's original Steven Universe songs on YouTube. They're all amazing, so of course I reacted by sobbing until my eyes hurt. I think this might be partly because I haven't had coffee.
My favorites of hers are "Opal" and "Through His Eyes," but they're all so good.

Got my Lapis mystery mini! I have to say she's a lot cuter in person than all the pics I've seen of her (and other mystery minis) online. I really like it.

Jealous! She's super cute - I'm definitely getting Pearl!

Anyone been watching the new episodes beginning this week? They've been all over the place in terms of quality in my eyes. 'Mr. Greg' was great, 'The New Lars' was terrible (and a bad ripoff of a good and bad Utena episode), for example.
Also, Rebecca Sugar came out as bisexual at the SU panel at SDCC today!

Aww make sure you take pics of her when you do!

Yeah they've been hit or miss. The one that aired tonight (Beach City Drift) was the most boring of the new episodes so far. I guess they can't all be winners though.
