This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Urgh, spam. What to do about it. MediaWiki has an article here that might be helpful. Bella has already taken one of its ideas -- disable anonymous editing -- but that clearly hasn't solved the problem. I suggest that we try implementing the ConfirmEdit extension mentioned on MediaWiki. ConfirmEdit sets up a CAPTCHA that should block most editing by bots. We could use QuestyCAPTCHA, which requires editors to answer an administrator-defined question; on IRG, you can't register unless you know the color of Saionji's hair, which is enough trouble to deter many human spammers from registering. Apparently there is even a way to configure ConfirmEdit so that approved users don't have to go through the CAPTCHA system. Doesn't sound like a bad idea.
