This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Lalala! Here it is, it would have been posted sooner or later anyway. So what else do you listen besides Seazer's music? (If you do listen it, of course)
Here's the list of artist who I mainly listen to:
Akira Yamaoka, Otep, The Gathering, Within Temptation, Rasputina, Epica, The Sins of Thy Beloved.
I used to listen a lot of gothic metal, but I've been growing out of it and now I like different things.
And I feel I must share this awesome The Gathering concert which rocks infinitely http://www.fabchannel.com/thegathering
Ohhh, how I love this live show! "Travel" is just utterly beautiful and "Saturnine" has never sounded better. I wish I could have been there.
So come on, share yours!
p.s. It's funny how there's so much good music coming from Holland. o.o

I usually listen to Heavy Rock music; mainly Capcom Rockman X music to be more precise. I listen to SKU music as well but Techno and Trance (The REAL Trance by Robert Miles [I'm a Trance Music Afficianado]). Other genres that I'm getting into is House, Dark House and other bunch of genres I can't think off the top of my head.

I'm really boring - I barely listen to rock at all. Uh, lately I've been listening to The Dresden Dolls, Four Tet, Gabriela Kulka, Kate Bush, Björk, Shiina Ringo, and... well, you know. Other stuff. I have a weakness for female vocalists.
That thing right there, that be my last.fm profile.

I'm sure to be semi-alone here... I listen to all kinds of music, but my main interest besides anime & game OSTs and J-pop is progressive rock.
Here's an all encompassing list of favorites, surely missing a few here and there:
Genesis (including all solo careers, which includes Peter Gabriel)
Porcupine Tree
Dream Theater
Pink Floyd
Yes
Bjork
Kraftwerk
Radiohead
David Bowie
Garbage
The Smashing Pumpkins
DJ Shadow
Pet Shop Boys
They Might Be Giants
and not artist specific, but I Goa (aka psychedelic trance) Growling Mad Scientists comes to mind as one artist in this genre
Favorite movie composers are John Williams and Danny Elfman.

I'm a total bitch for that stuff.

Good music tastes here! I for one will listen to just about anything except rap or country. My major weaknesses are for Evanescence, Nightwish, Tori Amos, Goo Goo Dolls, old school No Doubt (WHY MUST YOU BETRAY ME STEFANI??), Boa (the Lain theme song people, not the Japanese group), Vanessa Carlton, the Beatles, Alanis Morisette and Sarah Brightman.
Also I have a HUGE weakness for most post-60s Broadway musicals (not a big fan of the old R & H school) that have orginial scores, thank you very much *glares at Mamma Mia for starting a horrible trend*. I especially love the works of Stephen Sondheim. Especially Sweeney Todd. The end!

Hrm, outside of artists, I of course love the Utena OSTs, quite fond of a few Broadway soundtracks (specifically Avenue Q and Wicked, so far), and a lot of OSTs from recent films - especially Sideways and Lady in the Water.
Oh, and the Carmina Burana, the Planets Suite, and Beethoven's Fifth. Mm.

For me it's mostly.. Tori Amos, Emilie Autumn (She's not that heard of, but she's wonderful. ), Within Temptation, Nickelback, Three Doors Down, Bjork, Tool/A Perfect Circle, Daft Punk, Darren Hayes/Savage Garden, Dido, Evanescence (guilty, I know), Goo Goo Dolls, Jewel, Marilyn Manson, Michelle Branch, Muse, Natalie Imbruglia, Nightwish, Placebo, Poe, Sarah McLachlan, Vienna Teng, some other stuff and, uhm.. more Tori.
I crave more music. D:<

I mainly listen to soundtracks/songs from games and crap. The only band I can say I'm a real fan of is GORILLAZ. Seriously, look past the cartoon characters and there is some VERY innovative and amazing music on their CDs. The first time I listened to the Demon Days album, I was speechless. I also enjoy Tenacious D because their immature humor makes me laugh like hell.
Artists that I sometimes listen to: No Doubt (the stuff before the Rock Steady album), Rasputina, Weird Al (mainly just the song Amish Paradise, because it never gets old for me ), Fiona Apple
Some of my favorite soundtracks:
-SKU
-Evangelion
-AIR
-Kingdom Hearts (1 & 2)
-Kill Bill (1 & 2)
-Shallow Hal (yes, I like this movie, wanna make something out of it? )
-Corpse Bride
-Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (yes, I listen to it...*sweatdrop* shameless Violet fan, here)
-Chicago (film version)
-RENT (film version mostly, but the Broadway one is nice too)
-Rocky Horror Picture Show
-Shock Treatment (sequel to RHPS)

Ohh oh oh! Within Temptation makes my headphones happy, would you say any of those other bands (or any others besides) would be good to check out if you like WT?
Hmmm, if you mean bands like WT then I can suggest some by genres.
Since WT started out as a doom metal band in 1996 I think you might like Theatre of Tragedy or The Sins of Thy Beloved (I prefer the latter since it's more pure in it's style and oh so beautiful). Anyway, moving on to WT's album "Mother Earth", their style was more gothic (or so they say). And there are some gothic metal bands that WT has been compared to. The most popular one would be Nightwish. I guess they're pretty good, except I don't like the Tarja's voice so much. I think After Forever, Epica and Tristania are also worth checking out. Now, with WT's latest album "The Silent Force" their style change a bit again. It sounds more celtic than gothic, and more like rock than metal. But since that's quite a unique album, I can't really think of other bands similiar to that.
Here's another Dutch band I think is worth checking out. (I guess they're more well-known here in Europe than the US)
The Gathering - mostly metal, but with different styles combined. The vocalist has such an amazing and heart-warming voice. It's a nice alternation to all the gothic metal stuff (especially the ones with male vocalists who don't sing but grunt), altough it should be noted that The Gathering was also a doom metal band in their early years. By now, I'd call them alternative 'cause that's what they seem to me. Since their discography is so huge, I have only some albums I really really love, though the rest is quite nice too. I suggest listening "Black Light District" if you can find it somewhere (if not, let me know) because it's a 15-minute masterpiece and one of the most unique songs I've ever heard. And I highly recommend checking out this live show: http://www.fabchannel.com/thegathering You could start by watching "Travel" because Anneke sings it exceptionally good on live shows. If by any chance you like it, check out others too like "Saturnine" or "Broken Glass"

My absolute favorite artist is Emilie Autumn. My other favorites include Tori Amos, The Dresden Dolls, KMFDM, Rasputina, Cocteau Twins, Fiona Apple, VNV Nation, Imogen Heap, Joe Satriani, and OK Go. I listen to a lot of electronicy-type music too... just random stuff here and there.

Lately, I've been really into Hello!Project (Morning Musume, W, MiniMoni, Nakazawa Yuko, Goto Maki, Def.Diva, etc etc etc!) which is sort of silly but somehow really ridiculously addictive. It snuck up on me and stole my soul. :/
Besides that, my music tastes are pretty widespread--The Velvet Underground, Patti Smith, & Cocco are pretty much my top three, but I also really like Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, Namie Amuro, Brigitte Bardot, Joanna Newsom, Kana, Frog Eyes, Laurie Anderson, Belle & Sebastian, Ace of Base, Duke Ellington, Koda Kumi, Nick Cave, GO!GO!7188, 45 Grave, Bjork, The Knife, Malice Mizer, Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, Benny Goodman, Chantal Goya, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Christina Aguilera (esp her new stuff ), Miles Davis, & X. But the list could go on much, much longer, of course.
Oh and also I think Justin Timberlake's new album is really fantastic. Everyone should check it out. No joke. It's like a male version of Peaches (minus all the hot visuals and crotch-talk) or something.
As a side note: I think it's pretty cool to see so many Emilie Autumn fans here. I use to be really into her Celtic-pop music, back when she did the whole fairy princess thing...I think she's gotten a bit silly, these days, but her voice remains absolutely sublime.

Mostly anime music. I especially love Ali Project. And the One Piece image songs, they're the greatest thing ever. I used to obsess over Gorillaz, but I don't listen to 'em much anymore. I still think they're great, though.

To be honest, there isn't much music that I like, other than music from anime and videogames. In English, I tend to be rather critical of the lyrics, but if it's in Japanese I can barely tell that I'm singing a song about the apocalypse, unless I focus on what I'm saying. I have more songs memorized in Japanese than in English.

Evita (?!)
Adding to my strange taste, I love the movie Evita, and I was quite obsessed with it in 2005. It's a two and a half hour long movie, yet I have the whole thing memorized. The music is very catchy.

I am currently listening to The Good, The Bad and the Queen. (Hina and Rosemary, this is much like Gorillaz, so you will probably like! ....especially with Damon heading it and Dangermouse doing the mixing.) I think the most awesome thing about this band is the BASSIST FROM THE CLASH!!!ONE!!11!! (http://www.myspace.com/thegoodthebadandthequeen) Definently pretty, that's for sure.
...and I am also looking once more for Tenchi Muyo! tracks.....
I am actually mostly into metal myself....
