A Studious Observation

I don't know whether this has been posted or not, but here it is. Considering you are all Utena fans (to various degrees, of course), I pose the following question:

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

I, myself, believe that the egg came first. For, without the egg, how could we smash the world's shell? How could there be Revolution? (Yeah, I'm definitely pulling from the Chick Speech, here...)

On the other hand, how can there be an egg without the chicken (in this case, I would assume Akio) to lay it for the smashing to bring about the Revolution?

Such a deep question, with so many opinions...! emot-dance

Re: A Studious Observation

If you want to take the evolution standpoint, then the egg came first because reptiles pre-date birds, then so do fish.

But then, are all baby birds "chicks", or just baby chickens?emot-confused

Picture this: the egg sitting on the side of a bed smoking a cigarette, and a very disgruntled-looking chicken still under the covers. Now you know school-eng101

Re: A Studious Observation

If we revise the question to "which came first, the chicken or the chicken egg," it depends on whether a chicken egg is an egg laid by a chicken, or an egg from which will hatch a chicken.  From an evolutionary perspective, if the former, then the chicken came first; if the latter, then the egg came first.  Doesn't it suck when the answers to life's greatest questions boil down to semantics?

I used to wonder about the meaning of life.  But I looked it up in the dictionary under L and there it was -- the meaning of life.

It was less than I expected.

Though really, if we are worried about chicks breaking out of their shells, the real question is: Which will come last, the chicken or the egg?

Man, I guess no one stole my post. So, here it is. The Egg came first, definately. Two birds, both different types of bird, got together and laid the egg. The bird within was a mix between bird A and bird B. The result? Bird C--Chicken. Them birds could have had several eggs, and they grew and had eggs with each other [chickincest!]. Thus, the mighty and noble chicken comes into being.

I can try to steal your post now if you want, but I don't know how well it will work. emot-frown

As well, I have grown a new post!

The chicken and egg exist as a cloud of probabilities, neither one coming first, until you have the experience itself under direct observation. Of course, that may change the outcome. emot-keke

I say we say the egg and the chicken are both Schrödinger's cat, in which case does either actually exist in the first place...? Or is it that they both exist simultaneously, therefore occupying the same quantum states, therefore cancelling each other out and not existing at all anyway?

Man, I knew there was a reason I always skated this close to failing physics. emot-frown

The dinosaurs came before the chickens. And they laid eggs! school-eng101

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

A chicken and an egg were sitting in bed. The chicken was smoking a cigarette and looked satisfied. The egg looked pissed. The egg said, "Well, I guess we answered that question."
