This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The world.
There was dueling angry ex's for a girl, sword-pulling, and a creepy final boss while the girl acted like a mindless doll, and lots of stairs... maybe I'm just imagining the stairs part though.

You've made me want to see it now darn it. Right after I had already sworn Michael Ceras didn't actually exist as an actor.
I went to the seaquarium today, and saw a shaved ice stand. Moreover I saw a woman carrying a tray with green, purple, and red flavored shaved ice in cups. (Saionji/Anthy/Touga squee! Except lets pretend red had actually been pink?) I kind of really wanted to get a purple one but it wasn't worth the sticky mess.

From what I've heard of the movie, it sounds awesomely hilarious. First time maybe ever that I've actually wanted to watch a romantic comedy (that actually revolves around the romance). It won't be in my country until about a month later, though.

Scott Pilgrim is a GREAT GODDAMN MOVIE. It's just unceasing nerdy fun. And when I saw Scott Pilgrim's soul sword, I nearly lost my shit. I mean, that can't be a reference to anything else, right? It has a lot of references to nerdy things, and I can't think of anything else that basically has soul swords. With all the other geek references in the movie, I have to wonder if it was intentional.

Damn, now I really am going to have to blow 10 bucks on a ticket for Scott Pilgrim.

I was reading Scott Pilgrim Vol. 3 I noticed this SKU poster above the computer!!! It's pretty small in the actual comic and really easy to overlook. I only noticed it because one of the characters mentioned getting rid of all her anime stuff and I flipped back to pictures of her old room to investigate. In the back of my mind I was wondering if there would be any SKU stuff in the old room and it turns out there was!
Maybe there's more of a connection between the two series than we thought. The creators of Scott Pilgrim clearly knows about SKU or else they would not have put the poster in the room!

There are no words for this.

I definitely have this volume too. Wow, I can't believe I totally missed that
EDIT
Totally missed the Porco Rosso poster too... I'm such a bad anime fan >__>

Dang it, now I want to watch that Scott Pilgrim movie!
Um, Astronomy class reminds me of Akio constantly. Whenever I'm bored I'll pretend he's teaching it.

I thought I was just being a crazy super fan when I thought Scott Pilgrim was strikingly similar to Utena, but apparently not
also my wind chimes this morning sounded exactly like the beginning to Zettai Unmei Mokushiroku, so much so that I started singing it, my neighbor on the other side of my balcony was NOT happy

Your neighbors are obviously philistines. HOW CAN YOU NOT APPRECIATE THIS

Ugh, I know, my neighbor's such a bitch about noise I mean seriously if I'm out on the balcony and I want to take a phone call, I'll take it, I don't care if your "meditating", my life doesn't revolve around you sweetheart

so I was looking around the net for utena themed cars (of which I found none and must resort to various anime things to plan everything out for next summer >_>)
...anyway I came across this comparison of SKU and Scott Pilgrim.....

I was then reminded of this thread, so I posted it....

Yesterday there was a story on the news about a three year old girl who flushed her kitten down the toilet. I was relieved when I saw that it was okay, but then I thought that that was something Nanami would do. *shivers*

My dad and brothers got me white roses for my birthday. I was SO tempted to wear one on my shirt.

At work I was facing a table the whole time and had to concentrate. All the while I was distracted by a guy pushing a trolley back and forth full of plants. I kept thinking of Nemuro hall for hours and was very disappointed when he went away. The sound was just so familiar.
Also when I went to Sydeny Botanical Gardens and looked at their Rose Garden. There was a perfect variety that matched Juri...

I think of Utena whenever I hear anyone talk about princes and princesses, see roses, listen to philosophers, watch/think about the Matrix movies, or see Indian women. I'm an associative thinker and can be set off on weird contingents by almost anything...
(On a separate note, "The Princess and the Frog" for some reason caused me to realize the crushing reality of my societal situation and have an emotional breakdown, which in turn lead to me writing a shit load of dark poetry. All of it was crap anyway.)
