Vanity thread, Woo woo. This guy was my favourite dictator.
He banned newscasters from wearing makeup because he couldn't tell them apart. I'm sad that all the true megalomaniacs are getting up there in the years. They made the news more interesting.

My favorite dictator died a long time ago, but it's always a shame to lose one. I think I'd make a good popular one. At least until my assassination.

My favorite dictator is Kim Jong Il. He's so wiierrrrd like when he said that all Koreans will have a standardized hair length because 'extra hair uses up more energy, and that decreases productivity.' In all truth, we know he was just trying to avoid the mullet. And he also looks real funneee. Huh huh huh.

I wouldn't worry about that too much, I'm sure that we will have plenty of future dictators and sooner or later the biggest baddest one will come out of the US, I'm sure of it.

Well I don't actually want one soon... less in my country... but I am kind of worried because it seems we like revolutions starting on the 10th year in every century 
(our independence war started in 1810, we had a revolution in 1910 and many people seem willing enough to make another in the 2010)

That attitude isn't all that rare, either. If there is one thing Stalin did right, it was to get people love him beyond logic and reason. A fair deal of people who suffered under his rule were convinced that he'd help them, at once, if he just knew of their condition.
Apparently he could have actually been a fairly laid-back kind of person, if he had received proper medication for his mental condition. Unfortunately he was too paranoid to let any doctor do a proper diagnosis on him. That paranoia lead to all those millions dead, as he imagined that everyone was out there to get him.

As for Saparmurat Niyazov, he sounds like me whenever I'm playing The Sims. I think that from now on, I'll rename Saturdays, Shioriday. It shall be a holiday, and all Sims must rewatch episode 17 on that day. People who don't rewatch it will be crushed with satellites.

Most of this information is foisted on me by an IRC deadpool, so my knowledge of the dead won't be running out any time soon. 
EDIT: and yeah. He was hanged a few hours ago. I was kind of shocked by how quickly it happened, too. When I told my grandmother her first instinct was to ask if he killed himself in his cell.
I bet she had money riding on that means of death.

Yeah it was pretty sudden. If they weren't going to draw things out they should have had it on Christmas like Colbert suggested.
