This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Flesh Gordon and the Cosmic Cheerleaders
This had all the cheesy goodness, claymation penis monsters, spaceships that run on sex, tacky costumes, turd-people, corny dialogue and smutty humour, what else could you ask for?

I thought it did...
Oh good. Yes I see it on your list now. I think my favorite song has to be the Madonna one.
Ah yes, that is a good one. I'm partial to Spectacular Spectacular and Tango de Roxanne myself. Though the whole thing is great, of course!

that one is pretty awesomely bad, yeah. My friend dressed up as the guy in the cloak for holloween one year. It was so cool. No one but us knew who he was but it was still cool.

I laugh out loud every single time the cast stops in the middle of Spectacular Spectacular and sings "The hills are alive" in a minor, Indian-sounding tone. It's so funny. I know its coming, and every time I can't help myself!

And God being played by Alanis Morissette is even better. Dogma is one of my favorite films. I don't really see Princess Bride or A Christmas Story as particularly cult film-like. While A Christmas Story can be pretty divisive (I know just as many people who loathe it as who love it), it's pretty much in the popular culture, and The Princess Bride seems to be as well (although maybe not so prevalent nor nearly so divisive.)
I tend to watch lesser known films from time to time, but I don't think many of them really fall in to "cult." Perhaps I just don't fully understand what it means to be a cult film. I'm sure plenty of my favorites might fall along those lines, especially given how many have been listed that I've seen and loved.
Clerks would count, yes?

... I hated that movie. Well, what I saw of it at least. I gave up after 15 minutes when I realized the only word I could make out was "Fuck!" and it was repeated a lot (I can only tolerate that word in moderation--it's just too harsh sounding to me). I think I ended reading Steven Martin novellas instead...
Saved! seems like it might be a bit cultish. It's absolutely hilarious, although I do remember wishing they hadn't gone soft at the end with the satire. Culkin's character (can't spell his first name for the life of me) was hilarious. I'd love to see Party Monster, but last I checked it wasn't available at Netflix anymore. I'll have to check again sometime soon.

I wanna get out of Chicago quicker just to pop that in the VCR! So delicious (and so mean)!
And, Mylene, I think "fuck" may be the only word in Boondock Saints that isn't "rope" or part of a prayer.

I liked the deleted scene in Boondock Saints where their mom called from Ireland, myself...

The Blues Brothers.
I also Muppet Treasure Island, but I'm not sure if it would be considered a cult film. I think I've just irritated everyone around me out of enjoying it. Oh well! Sailing for adventure on the big blue wet thing...

Although "rope" is usually found with the word preceding it, as in: "fucking rope."
Does Beetlejuice count? God, I love that movie.

Weirdly, I think all Tim Burton movies count.
And notice everyone how I am carefully avoiding the Boondocks' allusion of "the diversity of the word."

This was my first taste of Tim Burton (and Danny Elfman) oh so many years ago. And I never looked back! Beetlejuice is a great movie.

Has anybody here seen Repo! The Genetic Opera?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0963194/
It's a rock opera done in the same vein as Rocky Horror Picture Show. The songs are really fun, and the concept is as well. Just pretend Paris Hilton isn't in it, and you'll find something to appreciate about this quirky film.

Paul Sorvino wins + 10 villainy because of that movie, and Legal Assassin is SEX.

OMG I'm glad you started this thread.
I love Cult films. If it's trashy, I'll probably watch it. But some of my favorites are:
Rocky Horror Picture Show *and* Shock Treatment
I started going so much that I eventually joined the cast. Another shameless promotion plug: Come see us if you're in the Southern Cali area. I play "Trixie" and would love to see some fellow IRGers at our shows.
My favorite call out line, I have to keep it generally safe "The road was long but I ran it (BACKWARDS!) ...and I love Brad. I know lame right, but he's my favorite character.
Any John waters film. But my favorite is Serial Mom and Hairspray.
Blue Velvet
("Candy Colored Sandman.")
Showgirls
"I'm not a whore! I'm a dancer!"
Office Space
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls
Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
Clueless
Clue
American Psycho
Welcome to the Dollhouse
Vanishing Point
Crash (with James Spader)
...so many that I probably forgot but those are on my definitive list.
dude those are all awsome movies...

Sally Potter's excellent adaptation of Orlando with the very sexy Tilda Swinton and Billy Zane.
And two Dylan flicks: Masked & Anonymous that he co-wrote with Larry David, and Eat the Document which is just marvelously energetic and witty.
And, now I go to hang my head in shame for not mentioning a single movie involving Ash and something evil in the woods.

Rocky Horror is definitely up there on my list. And Donnie Darko, because it has such a weird and deep effect on me. It is one of the most beautiful and disturbing movies I have ever seen, and it's still the only film that I can't watch with anyone, ever. When I see it, I go to this dark and scary mental place and stop communicating with people on a vocal level. (Like I just don't talk for a while.) I can stay there for days. It's odd.
If I ever find someone who can sit through that movie with me, that person will be very special.
