This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

I'll pass along information as soon as I get it. I suspect you'll have to wait a bit, though -- I happen to know that Gio and Yasha are on vacation and sick, so getting the ISOs back up is not their top priority. Naturally, if anyone who has the ISOs can find hosting for them, we'll update this thread with that information too.
Oh, it's not a problem. I have quite a few other games to play, so I'm not quite foaming at the mouth. Haha And.... I might want to rewatch Utena again anyway, since the last time I saw it was over a decade ago, and that makes me sad. T_T
Thanks for the response!

Hi! I've been lurking for a while, and I'm so glad that there's a first working version of this translation! I rehosted the ISOs if anyone needs them.

Hello! You're welcome!
Maybe this guide (in eng) would be useful? GameFaqs

Just finished my first play though. I had a real blast playing it, so I just wanted to offer up my thanks once again for the hard work everyone put into translating this. I went through Juri's route and managed to get the good ending! I definitely had a crush on Juri when I first watched RGU (and still kinda do, if I'm honest!) so playing the Juri Dating Simulator(c) was pretty damn awesome.

I've been trying to get this to run. I couldn't get the recommended player to work on my computer, so i downloaded yabause. It seemed to be working at first, but what's happening is it just plays the opening movie on loop instead of actually starting the game!
Do any of you guys have a clue as to what I did wrong?

Note that there are parts of that guide that are slightly inaccurate. The way the choices after school on the 23rd work is stranger than presented, for instance - you can make multiple choices until certain conditions are met. And some ending requirements are definitely off, as well. I don't believe your points with the Student Council matter for the Akio ending, for one thing, and you don't need to have earned the other endings to receive the Anthy one.
The point results from choices look correct, though! And to my knowledge, there isn't a 100% accurate guide available right now anyway.

Our love Utena in "Top 10" Sega Saturn games, by the GameFaqs opinion!

That's pretty funny. It took 17 years, but the Utena game is finally one of the most popular games on its long-dead console!

Don't use Yabause. Use SSF if you can. The music doesn't play properly on Yabause-but if you can't use SSF like me, don't forget to set up the controller and set up frameskip. Helps performance massively.

Well, I assume the "recommended player" is SSF? I don't know what's going wrong with it, but if you're having trouble getting it to work.. apparently it could be that you need an OLDER version of the DirectX driver? (This is a post from someone else who was struggling with the program but finally got it to work for them on Windows 7.)

Hi! I want to take a moment to thank all of you who worked on the game! This is such a luxury to be able to play it now, translated, even after all these years since its release! I'm impressed and very grateful!
While I'm at it, I'm also amazed by this forum and how active it is! A big thank you to those responsible for that as well! I'm still only a lurker, but a somewhat active one, so I felt the need to seriously thank all of you for providing me with so much enjoyment and information!
I finally had some time to try the translation out and I'm enjoying this so much! I failed my first try, but I'm already working on my second playthrough (Utena's patiently blinking at me in the background as I'm taking a short break from the game to write this). The first time I simply went with the choices I was feeling at the moment (despite knowing it might not be that wise, I was interested in where I'd end up with simply going by what "I would do"), but now I have my battle-plan ready!

Awesome! I've been playing the game, and I've managed to get the Miki ending, but no matter what I do I can't seem to get the Juri ending; if anyone's gotten the Juri ending, could you please share how you did it? I'd really appreciate it.
EDIT: Never mind, I managed to get it after all! Now for the Utena ending!

Hey, I was wondering if there's a Mac version or if there will be one at some point?
Offline
The translator probably works fine in Mac if you install Wine, although I have no idea of how good are the ports of Wine for Mac.
As for emulators, I think there is a Mac version of Yabause, although that one doesn't support audio.
Likely, SSF emulator works on Wine too, although it may require some tweak. What I don't think it will work is running an iso, as that requires a good virtual CD program, and I don't know if there is a good compatible one available on Mac. But isos can always be burnt to CD's (not DVD's!) in the worst case.

My translator (.bat) works properly in Wine
But i'm using linux - Ubuntu 15.04... I hope, on Mac it will work too.

Hi everyone! Has anyone attempted to play this on a real Sega Saturn console? All the posts I see here only talk about playing the game via emulation. I'm downloading this game for a friend who is absolutely obsessed with Utena. I, on the other hand, am completely obsessed with Sega and own a modchipped console I plan to loan him that can play burned discs. I'll give it a shot and report back how it goes.

Yeah, pe4ik tried it and it worked fine. There's no reason it shouldn't, after all! Just choose a name you really like before you burn it, if you're trying to bypass the three-character limit.

Yes, agree. Both discs runs fine on my NTSC-J Saturn, with a modchip
