This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Hey! I was just swapping websites with my girlfriend, and realized that I have relatively few awesome websites to visit since I bought my new computer. Unfortunately, I lost all of my "Stumbleupon" websites that I loved.
Most people on this forum seem to share my perverse taste in random hilarity, so please, if you have websites you think are worth mentioning I'd love to look at them!
An example of something I love which I found here on IRG is the

The forums at http://somethingawful.com were the template for this one. The smilies are in most cases completely ripped from that site and oops. (Their fap and shlick smilies didn't match, I changed one so it would and made all the faces have the same coloring, but still.)

KanzakaDex-- a Wiki mainly about Slayers and Lost Universe.
Dies Gaudii-- a Sailor Moon site dedicated to correcting inaccuracies in fan translation.
Poke the Bunny-- Exactly what it says on the tin.
Theoi Project-- best Greco-Roman mythology site on the intarwebs.
Outpost Daria--very good archive of Daria fanfiction, fanart, and essays.
Girl Genius-- The only webcomic I'm reading so far.
Sailor Moon V-- my favorite Sailor Moon fanfic ever.
Don't be a Makeup Chicken-- Sounds weird, but it's a blog about being adventurous with your makeup.
Fatshionista @ LJ-- An LJ group dedicated to fashion and shopping for the full-figured. Complete with camwhoring, shopping recommendations, and somewhat constructive criticism. Oh, and drama....because LJ is nothing with drama.
Manolo for the Big Girl-- A blog dedicated to high(ish)-end shopping for plus-sizes. And lots of shoes. LOTS OF SHOES.

A very webbity professor last semester had the class use http://www.jacksonpollock.org/ as part of our modern art assignments. The more slowly you move your mouse, the greater the amount of "paint" coming out onto the canvas will be (if you move your mouse very quickly, you'll get very thin lines-- neat, but not very paint looking, fyi). Clicking changes the color of the active mouse movements.

You're completely welcome. While looking for information on Mondrian for the same class I stumbled upon the Mondrimat (http://www.stephen.com/mondrimat/), which isn't as easy but almost as fun. The directions are complete crap in my experience, I just clicked-klacked-clucked until I got something I liked. The name does me in every time, too.

Necro'd!
I have spent way too much time on here recently. Despite the title, it really has nothing to do with girls looking pretty. It's essentially a blog devoted to stories to weird your day up a little.

A lot I'd rather not share, but for what I would (other than the obvious i.e ff.net, youtube, etc):
For fun:
http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page (I actually don't read this site too much because it holds the power to bring out the corrupt tendencies within the inner recesses of my soul. I have gotten innocent children addicted to this site when I was in high school orchestra...one of my greatest regrets and failings. The wiki-how on how to cheat at scrabble initially got me addicted, though...and between you and me, Nanami would go for the octopus method. I also recommend articles on breathing, and dyslexia from off-hand memory.) I dare you to put 'waldo' into the search engine. :is a dork:
http://similarminds.com/ (worthless psych tests and crap but interesting nonetheless)
For fandom or otherwise:

http://www.ocremix.org/ (been a fan of this site for about eight years or so)
Other:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/
http://www.online-literature.com/
http://www.bartleby.com/ (for me to gain access to a lot of bodies of knowledge or else study different writing styles from those whose names are well-remembered)
http://www.sacred-texts.com/ (comparative religious studies)
http://www.associatedcontent.com/ (when looking for sagely content from people who write about it and have know-how)
http://www.helium.com/ (at least not a bad place to write and publish while retaining rights over your works and might help in making a bit of cash or else landing a freelance job)
http://www.odesk.com/w/ (for finding freelance opportunities. guru.com is supposed to be good, too, but at least let's me see some available jobs on the job market)
