This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Spawn shouldn't have been affected, given our load distance and Elizea's distance from spawn.
That said, I'm very strongly cautioning y'all from logging in right now. We seem to be having issues with server.properties and I'm going to download a full backup of the server right after this post before I discuss anything with Aine later. Long story short, we seem to be hardcoded into Hardmode and I don't know if we can re-instate anybody who dies on the server. Obviously I don't wish to personally chance it on anybody.
I'll try to keep you all afloat of decisions and what-all gets done between me and Aine.
EDIT: okay, so I don't have an FTP client. I'll get Aine to pull a copy. In the meantime, I'm shutting down the server until I can confer with her.

Little-known Minecraft fact: spawn is always loaded. I'm not sure what the radius is, but the chunks around spawn just don't unload, which makes them an ideal place for certain kinds of farms and such that you want to always have running.
Hope you and Aine get everything sorted out!

Fluctis has more and more become an unreliable host. They are cheap, I'll give them that, but it is something that I'm becoming more and more perturbed with. This whole thing with the strangeness of the server properties... it's really just the last in the line of things I'm willing to deal with. Those of you who were around when we were doing the modded server will remember how easily I grew frustrated with trying to make things work properly on the server. Beyond that... I'm not even sure the last time I even posted on the forum, or was even on the server despite that I've been paying for it for about half a year. I'm not even truly sure why I did that, in truth. I haven't an issue with it, but I don't know why I did it.
I have the files for the server on my Dropbox. It may take a while for them to propagate onto it, as it's just over 1 GB of files. (As of writing this, a lot of the region files have not propagated onto Dropbox. As of 12:07AM EST, they are now all up there, as far as I can tell.) The server is no longer up on Fluctis at all. I'm sorry that I didn't ask about it before just making the choice for everyone, but I'm also not even sure the last time anyone was on the server. Yet another of the things that bothered me about their service. Either no one's been on since February, or their logging system stopped working. You have the files, though. If someone wants to take up the job Bio and I were doing, you're welcome to it. Just keep me on the whitelist, just in case I decide to say hi. Maybe even let me stay in creative mode. That's all.

Oh man, I didn't even realize that the server went down. How did I miss this?
I'd say I'd take up the task, but… I don't really know how. I suspect it isn't too difficult to find out, so… maybe someday I will.
I miss meeting up with people on the server. I miss sinking way too many hours into building a nonexistent city. I miss seeing what other people built.
So, I'll see. Maybe.

I wish I knew even a tenth as much about servers and hosting as Aine and Bio do, or I would. Thanks for all the work you both did proving us a space!!!

The server was fun, and I do miss it, in truth. That said... I was rather the one who'd convinced Aine to bring it offline, though they were the one who chose to upload the files to Dropbox. There was a lot of stress there, and as one of their best friends, I couldn't really bring myself to watch them under that stress without doing something.
I'm pretty sure there are other hosts out there – perhaps not as inexpensive as Fluctis was, but likely also much more stable and reliable than Fluctis had become. I know I won't say "no" to anybody picking up where we left off and finding a server.
...in truth, managing a server is a lot easier than it might seem. Or, at least, it seemed that way to me (yay for having back-end access!).I do have two Drive docs up, one for our last known whitelist population (with UUIDs to boot) and a co-ordinate listing of all interesting places and builds that were last on the server (or, at least, everywhere I knew of when I updated said list). I can link them here if anybody wants to take a crack at resurrecting it?

So, after a while without a server, I decided to re-instate my old Minecraft Realm. And because I know there's a few folks who miss the old server, I've decided to accept a few forumites into the fold, as it were.
The nice thing is, nobody will have to worry about payment except me. (seriously, $10 monthly means I can actually cover the cost) That said, you'll have to agree to abide by the rules I set, which can be viewed here. I have 3 slots of 20 filled. sat, Kita, OITL, you're all pre-authorised unless you explicitly decline.
The server's name is Dream's Garden and will have three distinct worlds, as described below:
The main world is the one that's online the most, and consists of a slightly-modified Customised pre-set. Rare resources are a touch richer here than a raw seeded world.
The void sandbox, which forces everybody into Creative because seriously, a world with nothing but void. I will place starter blocks at co-ordinates if you PM me said co-ordinates.
The deep-sea sandbox, which does rely on a raw seeded world.
I'll be renewing the Realm in a week or so, so first come, first serve.

Wow, not gonna turn down that offer. After playing Minecraft with other people, playing it solo feels like, what's the point? I could build a really huge spectacular thing, but no one's gonna see it. Plus, I miss running into people and being able to chat in real time.
Also, looks like I could just pay for server hosting where other people do all the really difficult stuff, and… it would probably be about as much as the Hulu and Crunchyroll subscriptions that I pay for and never use. Have I mentioned that I'm kind of terrible at money? Except that I manage to be terrible in ways that are small enough that they don't get me in any trouble, so… does that make me not terrible at money?
So who would be interested in a highly modded server?
edit: So, it was Funimation, not Crunchyroll, and a dedicated server would be… more (like, a little less than twice as much more) but given how long I paid for those two, not so much more that I would really mind.

The Realm of mine is now online! Pardon the dust, though. A bit of construction is still going on. The main world is currently up; I haven't had the time to upload the other worlds. And I still haven't worked out a good schedule for world rotation. (Anybody have any ideas, feel free to lay them out here! )
The realm is called "Dream's Garden" for those who have been registered.
sat and OITL, your names have been registered and you have invites. Kita, you might need to re-send your username so I can register it and send an invite.

Aright, Minecraft username is Kita_Ysabell.
Went thread spelunking, found this. Have no reason to think it's changed.
Also, I was gonna do internet things and get back to people, maybe get the FTB Infinity server up and running, but we had some folks working in the yard, and they cut the cable cable, so… the only internet I get is through my phone, and a) it's slow as heck and b) I'm a bit worried about using it too much. Repair should be in tomorrow, though I'm actually working a fair bit tomorrow as well, so… I have no idea when I'd be able to get it up and running, it really depends how much work it'll take and if the repair guy knows how to do his job properly.
In the meantime, I've got a map I'd like to see if I can upload for the server, and I'm trying to make starter backpacks for people.
Also, here's what I'm thinking for rules and setup:
1) Survival only. Don't worry, after you get yourself set up a bit, you're much more powerful than in vanilla Minecraft. I've got a set of tools, not that advanced, which work nearly as quickly as creative click-to-delete, and have durability in the hundreds. If you get far enough into the right modpacks, you can even fly.
2) No mob spawning. Partially because of the above, partially because there are some really tough mobs. Again, this doesn't mean there aren't any mobs, mob spawners still produce them, and there's definitely more mob spawners about than there are in Vanilla. For instance, I was wandering about, and I seem to have found a fucking spider tree. Why. Why would such a thing exist. Plus you can summon stuff. I just don't want to deal with the zombie hordes or what-have-you of a blood moon, or not being able to get a build properly under way because I'm constantly running away from creepers.
3) I'm thinking I should turn mob griefing off, that was rather nice. Granted, less mobs, so it should be less of a problem, but still. I think those Gaia guardians might have attacks that can affect blocks or something.
4) PvP in marked areas only. Because I am a pacifist wimp. (see above) But if you don't want to be, then feel free to mark areas otherwise.
5) No resource collection in other players' claimed chunks unless given express permission. Wilderness? Fine. Your chunks? Fine. But if it's someone else's territory, take only pictures, leave only footprints, so on and so forth, unless you contact them and they say it's okay, or put up a sign, or leave a book, or something. And yes, the whole chunk claiming is a mechanic of the mods. It's really nifty.
6) I'm thinking I'd claim spawn, build a greeting hut with starter backpacks, (BACKPACKS!!) maybe leave some edifying literature around or something, but if someone else wants to, I'll just provide the backpacks. Seriously, I've got like, three already. It took a while to breed the cotton up to a level where it wouldn't take an age to produce enough for the cloth, but it's done now. And most of the food is prepared, and I pretty much have the materials for tools, tool benches, and beds. Need more wool for scoops though. But that should be pretty much everything for starter packs.
7) General anti-jerk rules: don't mess with people's builds, clean up any pranks, don't write slander in 50-block-high neon lights unless the target doesn't mind, you know the drill.
Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Too Many Mods Server Update:
I am an idiot. But I see a light at the end of the tunnel.
The server space has been purchased, most of the requisite mod packs have been loaded, and…
… and it turns out adding ONE extra mod pack (Iguana's Tinker's Tweaks, because it makes Tinker's Construct 1000% better) and uploading a map is like, double the effort.
But I have a guide up! So I just follow the steps and…
… and it's like twice as hard with a Mac. Okay. Not like I haven't run into that before. But goddamnit, I made all those sandwiches, I'm sure as hell gonna import them.
Long story short, this will take a bit of doing, but then it'll be done, and it doesn't seem to be too hard to figure out what to do, so I'm pretty confident it'll only take one or two tries.
HOWEVER, as I was typing this, a plumbing fixture broke in the house and poured water over like… 30% of the rooms, maybe? Mine isn't affected, but the water's off right now, and on top of our ongoing emergency (mom's cancer, she just got another round of chemo so this was gonna be a tough weekend anyways) it's a lot to deal with, on the one hand, and a lot I'm not allowed to deal with, (thank you control issues) on the other. I was gonna say ETA of like, tonight-ish, but my new goal is "sometime this weekend".
I'll post instructions for logging in when I get there. There's not gonna be a whitelist, at least to start with, and the first couple people are probably gonna have to help me troubleshoot, 'cause I don't know what all the settings are. Hell, I dunno what all the Minecraft commands are, not even the ones I know I want to use.
tl;dr: thank gods for internet guides, 'cause the odds are not in my favor.

Status update:
Server is live.
IP address: TheOutsideWorld.playat.ch
How to Connect: Download Minecraft Infinity Evolved through Curseforge or the Feed the Beast launcher, and add the version of Iguana's Tinker's Tweaks from Regrowth. Boot up the game through the launcher, click Multiplayer, add server, and input the IP address. Let me know if it doesn't work. Or does.
Things I need to know: If territories and waypoints show up for people, what folks think of the settings, who wants to claim a town, if anyone has any questions or comments that I can in any way deal with. Also where spawn is, but I think I can find that out on my own.
Note: I have no idea how any of this works, aside from "there are files on a server somewhere, it plays Minecraft." I followed instructions until it looked like it was going to do what I wanted, and it turned out it did. Honestly Sat and Bio know way better than I do what's going on, but damnit, I'm running this thing, and it hasn't broken yet.

I would really love to get a piece of this. Time permitting I'll log on soon, but I'm in the throes of a post-move job search! But I love these mods so much and I've never gotten to play with them in a multiplayer setting!
Offline
Hope to see you there, Sat!
I can give you the worst introductory tour ever! "Over here we have some trees, and over here we have... some more trees, and over there we have some blood cultists or something honestly I don't know, don't get too close or they'll attack you and neither of us has a weapon."
The Welcome Pavilion might be the laziest spawn build anyone's ever bothered to make, but a) I didn't want to add doors or anything in case spawn protection made them un-usable, b) I'm in survival, so that puts a damper on the grandiosity of everything (so long as I let it) and c) I really haven't gotten into the creative potential of this mod pack.
Also: as of speaking, any town with a Roman numeral in the waypoint name is up for grabs. If waypoints show up for everyone. And you can use them to teleport properly.
And if anyone can find water bees for me (that's why the starting packs have scoops) I can work on getting free infinite (albeit slow) diamond production set up. Until then, I'm getting started on bee breeding, I'll see how long it takes to get a decent stock of starting breeds. And the industrial infrastructure necessary to do so.

There may or may not be a hic-cup of availability for my MC Realm on the 31st. It's not expected to last beyond the 1st of August, due to circumstances that I should have accounted for prior.
In other news: Bio sucks at handling money.
Hopefully this doesn't happen again, yeah?
Sorry about any inconveniences, guys.

Status Update:
Too Many Mods server is still running. Theoretically. I haven't checked it in a while, but one time it shut down and I fiddled with it a bit and got it working again, so I'm fairly sure if that happens again, I can fix it again.
HOWEVER, I'm about to pay for the third month of this service, and as far as I know, I'm the only person who's ever logged on. If I'm mistaken about this, please let me know, and if you've been meaning to but haven't… I would appreciate an ETA, though I do understand that real life comes first. I got a deal on hosting, so I'm a little reluctant to cancel it if there's going to be interest in the future, but if I'm really the only person who's ever going to be on, then… I'm paying for nothing, and that's pointless.
Heck, if you know someone else who might play but they're not on the forum? Fine! Lurking on the forum, don't want to become a member, but interested in checking out the server? Great! Might be hard to get feedback to and from you, but I'm willing to roll with it. Have an objection to the rules that prevents you from hopping on? Let me know, I can work with that! It's not whitelisted, so anyone can join, but I'm not going to post info about it anywhere but here, or send info to people I know personally who might join, so it's probably always be a fairly small, more-or-less select group.
Anyway, not going to take any action on this anytime soon, it's not a particularly urgent concern.

So I got back on again lately because that's always a good idea, yeah?
Too Many Mods Server is still up and running, it seems to be doing fine. In my little settlement I have over 60 species of cultivated plants. The Nether is amazing, like you've never seen it before. Bee breeding is still punnett square hell.
And screw whoever decided the genetic modification of bees in the vanilla forestry was too easy. Like, yeah, I get that gene splicing in a town where I look at something that allows me to build a windmill and am like "woo, no, that looks complicated" is probably pretty unrealistic. But you end up with a lot of extra junk bees. You need to be able to do something with them, aside from setting up to chuck them in lava. Used to be you could toss 'em in the bee liquefier and they'd get pureed into DNA with just power.
But nooooo. Now it can't be that simple. Now you need ethanol, which has to be distilled through one of a number of machines that all require different inputs. And you need enzymes, which are a third tier product of a horribly broken machine.
Which, yeah, all the new/replaced machines are shit. They're glitchy, and they don't play well with transport pipes, so automation of even a really, really low level is impossible, and they have freaking TINY internal holding tanks for the various liquids and products, and the control system is weird and unintuitive, and all of this results in a situation where you have to stand over the thing with buckets of water and you can easily poof your product out of existence with the wrong click, and there are points where you'll have to, because if the liquid on the left gets a little below half full, it considers it empty, and will throw a giant fit.
But you know what? Screw that, I still got my bee trash can set up. I'll just have to hand-carry the products to the giant tank.

DIAMOND BEES! WOO!
In other news, Mystcraft is horribly broken. Which is okay-ish, I was leaning on the side of forbidding it anyways, given that it can take horrendously enormous amounts of memory, given that it creates entire new realms on the scale of the regular ones. Maybe I can disable it?

Not gonna lie, that alone made me giggle.
Relatedly, albeit somewhat randomly, I've been working on layer-by-layer schematics for various structures, using the vanilla textures rather than, say, a bunch of coloured boxes that are largely unintuitive and provide absolutely no detail on which kind of plank it's recommended you use, or just... bluh, yeah. It's a bad scene.
I'm still working on parts to a specific structure that's designed in semi-modular fashion, but it'll take a while longer. Mostly I'm just throwing this out there because I'm eventually going to put them in a zip and upload them to Drive. So, if anybody would like to download them, just send me a PM with your Gmail address and I'll hook you up.

Double-post sorta-edit: I have everything but one specific structure finished. I take credit only for decorations and formatting. Most everything else was made on deviantART by a specific user. I just cleaned things up a bunch.
Here's an elegant and finely-crafted link to the blueprints. ZIP format instead of RAR, because not everybody uses WinRAR. Each folder is a set of blueprints for a specific building.

Too Many Mods Server Update:
The modpack updated and I did not. If it is/becomes a problem, I can go through that process, but someone's gotta want it, 'cause it is a process.
I think you can still access the server through the regular version of Infinity Evolved (see instructions above) or even regular Minecraft, though then you wouldn't have player-side mods like Not Enough Items or whatever it's called that makes crafting all the millions of things not impossible. Or the map including the waypoints and chunk claiming feature so really maybe it's better if you don't. If you try and something does or does not work, or you want links or files or help troubleshooting, let me know. I'm generally on IRG at least daily, PMs are a good way to get in touch.
I've already started building roads to random towns, I'm going to start fixing them up to generally be… walkable and not buried if no one says otherwise.
Edit to add: Jetpack acquired! I thought I'd take a shot at flight, so I made a tier 1 (leadstone) jetpack from Simply Jetpacks. Once I figured out how to make it hover it was quite nice, beforehand it was borderline suicide to use the thing, and on its own it'll make building much easier, but I'm definitely ready up for an upgrade or two to make flight less terrible and less short-lived. Also maybe make a solar-powered charging station (for jetpacks and other things) over by the spawn pavilion.

Server Update:
Server was working but... no one would be able to use it. FTB got eaten by CurseForge, who got eaten by Twitch App, and now, well, now it's impossible to download the version of the game that the server was running on.
I tried to create a backup of the map files but that was too much of a nightmare, so I'm going to install the new version and see what happens. Might wipe the map. Who knows. I'm waiting for it to download now.
Update Update:
The update went just fine, everything is wonderful. Might have to tinker with things to get Iguana's Tinkers Tweaks back but it runs on the Twitch version of Infinity Evolved and the map is there. I'm calling that a win.

Server Update
Server is still running, and functioning just fine. I added Iguana's Tinker Tweaks, and Creeperhost has made adding mods much easier, so that was not a fraction of the nightmare it was last time.
Since joining the server is now very slightly more difficult, I created a set of instructions here. Aside from a minor cropping incident, they should be pretty straightforward and easy-to-follow.

Question for all y'alls who've played both the Java and WinX versions...
Does the Windows 10 version still play out as a hack-rate Mobile Edition port or is it actually caught up mostly with Java Edition updates?
