I fear that now that the election is over, at least on the side of actual democratic politicians, talk concerning protecting abortion and gay marriage rights is going to all but evaporate.  Social issues like those tend to have their support played up for elections, then forgotten.  :<  Like, all you have to say is that you care and make passionate speeches, but as long as you do the bare minimum to promote those issues while in office, you're good.
