So, I was sitting here looking at the little tub of hummus next to me and wondering how to eat it. I ran out of pita earlier today, didn't really have any other bread products and was a bit hesitant to just eat it with a spoon. This prompted a run to the pantry where I found funyuns.... I know, strange idea.
Long story short, I just discovered that funyuns and hummus taste good together.
Anyone else have any strange food combinations that taste good but probably shouldn't?
Another example I have comes from some of my experamenting in the kitchen. Peanut butter omlettes. I kid you not, it tastes good if you add just a little bit of peanut butter while it cooks.

Cucumber Slice Bolognese.
This odd food combo was something I developed a taste for as a sympathetic reaction to when I was hanging around a family friend who was pregnant, I didn't realise it at first but if I was around her for quite a while, I craved the cucumber bolognese, but soon after she left, I lost the need to have it at all.

turkey sandwitches and sweet tea.
when i make turkey sandwitchs, i always dip them in sweet tea with lemon or honey.
not too odd, but meh.
i like to make chicken and potato sandwitches though. get some chicken breast, slather it in mashed potatoes or potato slices or whatever. add some duck sauce and its the perfect sandwitch.

Teatime? My mom makes peanut butter and jelly omlettes. I'm sorry, I'm afraid my very rare moments of intolerence must rear its head. They are, without a doubt, the nastiest, most foul thing I have ever smelled. The grape jelly turns the eggs green.
That said, I dip my french fries and onion rings in bleu cheese dressing. Not too wierd, I guess.

I dip mine in chocolate.

ok... if you added jelly it would be NASTY... I just mean a little peanut butter. A LITTLE not more than two teaspoons.... It melts and adds the richness of the peanut without an overpowering taste..... See... that with the jelly just sounds nasty.....

Adding peanut butter to chili is also actually really good. Just a couple of tablespoons instead of tomato paste, you don't taste it but it gives a good texture and it's a great alternative for my mother, who's allergic to tomatoes.

I like to pretend I'm European and dip my french fries in vinegar. I also decided, given my obsessive love for feta cheese, that I would attempt a feta grilled cheese sandwich -- it was passable.
You know how people will often slice fruit to put in their cereal? Well, my cousin sliced pickles into his Cheerios. Absolutely vile.

My uncle eats barbequed apples. With ranch.
Without a doubt, the most putrid thing I've ever tasted.

Feta doesn't go so well in grilled cheese sandwiches, but it goes great on pizza. Especially pizza with onions and kalamata olives.
And now that I remember, I once at a bowl of Special K with Diet Coke instead of milk. It wasn't bad. Wasn't good either, though.

ok...i'll try and list the things ive been told are weird...but they are absolutly delicious to me...
1) Burger King original chicken sandwich, chicken fries and regular fries all with honey.
2) A sandwich ive dubbed "the fat kid" Chicken patty on hamburger bun with baccon, ketchup, mayonaise and sharp chedder cheese.
3) Cubed sharp chedder cheese with some pancake syrup drizzled on it.
4) Wendy's chicken nuggets dipped in chocolate Frosty.
5) Egg Noodles in chicken gravy.
and one thats not weird (or a combination) but ive been told its weird before...
6) 1 packet of M&M's heated up in the microwave (like 20-30 seconds)
so when you bite into them they just crack and spill their chocolaty ooze on your tongue!
edit- Feta cheese is good on a BBQ chicken/pineapple pizza!

Oh god, I find it disgusting when anyone puts ranch on their food. I know so many people who dip their pizza in ranch dressing. What the hell.

i absolutely hate ranch. my friend tara calls me inhuman for it. she dips fries, pizza, anything in it. its sickening.

I like ranch blended with barbecue sauce and Cholula hot sauce on my bacon cheese burger (cheddar ONLY, American is vile) but that's about it. As a salad dressing, it's just messed up.
And ranch does not belong on ice cream. But then, I don't even like whipped cream on ice cream.

Pepperjack cheese on shortbread cookies.
I'm basically jus' looking to get myself killed.

Bacon with butter pecan syrup. But that's really not that weird.
And are we talking production "shortbread" cookies, or actual shortbread, like the stuff that Walkers makes?

Walkers, usually.
But I'm perfectly content with the backup plan

Lorna Doone just doesn't do it for me. I adore Walkers in every way, shape or form though. Especially the Highland-style shortbread and oatcakes... mmm...
Granny Smith apples and sharp cheddar. My mother likes pears with brie.

Those are NOT wierd. Those are delicious combinations! The Hovan place in the mall used to sell little fruit picks for .99$ that would have regular chedder, a white cheese (I think it was a swiss) and red and green appled.
I used to buy four of 'em, sprite, and a bag of chips and call it lunch. Sooooo good...

Well they certainly are delicious. I wouldn't eat them if they weren't. Well actually I only eat the former, brie is too rich for me. But that sounds like a wonderful lunch.

A combination I had recently was pretty good. I have been to a number of Japanese restuarants and takeaway and for most part all they usually sell is sushi, miso soup, yakitori chicken a a couple of other dishes but until I came to a takeaway joint called Itami, I have never come across any place that sold Okonomiyaki before, so when I found it, I tried it out.
Okonomiyaki topped with black bean beef is quite yummy!

ooooh! People talking about pizza reminded me of one of the most awesome pizza combinations ever. Shrimp, avocado, and I think mushrooms though I don't remember 100% about the last ingredient.
I don't really understand putting ranch on everything either... Though it is really good on raw broccoli and cauliflower and carrots and and and.... *insert random vegetables here* But it should never be used on anything warm... The thought of warm ranch dressing disturbs me.

If ranch dressing is anything like mayonnaise than I will most likely hate it as things like mayonnaise and McDonald's secret sauce are some of the few foods that not only do I hate the taste of, I cannot even keep down as its like Ipecac to me.
Also there is one vegetable I just cannot stand no matter how it is prepared and that vegie is Eggplant!

McDonald's secret sauce isn't really a secret - it's thousand island dressing (essentially mayonnaise, ketchup and sweet relish blended together) that's been left in the sun. Okay, so I can't prove that it's been left in the sun, but it sure tastes like it... and ranch really isn't anything like mayonnaise. I can keep ranch down, and I find ipecac preferable to mayonnaise on my sandwiches, so I suppose that's enough to tell you that it's different...

Taken out of context, that sounds downright dirty.
