This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
June is Gay Pride. Everyone get out your rainbow flags and and wave them around. Even if you aren't gay it's fun to go to the parades and events and watch the carange.

On the contrary, Persephone, we usually have some kind of pride parade in Wesport. Don't know if that's anywhere near you, but I'll look up the details and send them to you.
EDIT: There are major events scheduled this month in Columbia and St. Louis. Didn't see one in Westport...anyway, here's a good site for MO stuff: http://www.campkc.com/

I guess no one thinks there are gays in NC, sine we've never had a parade/fair. Not that I can recall.

How can there not be gays in there? i doubt your city is smaller than mine, and oh my we have huge gay parades.
Well, i must repeat that my city is the gay city of Spain officialy. Anyways, each year, any capital of the world is chosen to be the gay capital in the gay pride day, this year was madriiid...... yeey...
Some years ago was Santiago de Chile, a friend sent me pictures and oh my....
I'll post pictures here for sure.

Croatia always has to be a step behind everyone. Even our gay pride parade is gonna be a month late. In July.
But I'm afraid I won't be participating. I don't want to rain on the parade (I'll leave that to the clouds), because I personally don't like these events much. /: I tried to like them, but it just seems like an excuse for the exhibitionists who just happen to be gay to prance around town half-naked with the police which is just there for show and angry straight people who are upset that they'll have to take the long road home due to the traffic halt. What's worst is that most of the gay population around here agrees, because there's never more than 100-200 people participating.

I"m in Houston, and Pride Month isn't all that exciting. We get a parade, which somehow manages to air on one of the local channels, that runs through the "gay neighborhood" in the early evening hours. In general, for being the 4th largest city in the country, our gay community is rather quiet.
Dallas, however, totally pwns us.
EDIT: On a semi-related side note, I miss Southern Decadence in New Orleans.

Gay Pride Month is important to me, but I dont think I will celebrate this year. I recently learned that an uncle of mine from Tacoma WA passed away. He was diagnosed with HIV last year. He was 44 years old. He died suddenly and for no known reason (or at least none that was told to me.)

I will be attending my very first pride event this year. I've heard Denver's is pretty decent.
