Tama asked once in another thread that's buried somewhere, but my best friend, the one that's geting married, used to write a LOT, and she wrote a short story called Morose Mocha. It was a vignette with characters from a long term project she was writing. The project itself was interesting, really symbolic and layered and very very cool. I wish she'd finished it. Boiled down to its most basic premise, the main characters were basically voluntarily posessed. The demons were...not really demons, but more of a... noncoporeal entity... all wuth varying degrees of faith, but one of my favorites was a priest who was conflicted about the whole mess.

In the vignette, he has coffee with a girl in a shop on the nature of faith and love and a few other things, really making a connection, which was difficult for him. Through a set of circumstances she finds out about the demons and he's forced to eliminate her. He tries to just get her to keep her silence, but as she is also a religious person, she flips out that he's a demon and goes nuts, and he tries to stop her, and she ends up dead. It's a lot more tense and gorgeously sad, and more then a little nihilistic (one of the reasons I love it so much).

I liked alliteration, at the time I liked mocha (this was before chocolate started making sick) and if the term had existed back then, I would've been emo. I use it for just about everything, and even if I don't use the service, I've probably registered my name with it so that people can't use it.

My other favorite username is superstarnobody which comes from the thought that everyone is famous to someone. I've been using it for about ten years on and off.

I've been using this name, or assorted variations on it (just Chani, chani_sama for places that don't allow spaces or caps, ladychani once or twice), ever since elementary school. The full name, which I barely ever use, is Lady Chani Atreides. I use that variation for my most-frequented e-mail address (chani_atreides_sama(at)yahoo(dot)com), which I got after I had all my passwords taken away from me by my father as a punishment.

Those of you who recognize the name, props to you. It's the name of Leto Atreides' Fremen wife from Frank Herbert's Dune novels. I can't remember at this time if she had a different last name from her father, but I made it into Chani Atreides for sentimental reasons (I want nothing more than to be with someone. Sad, I know). I tend to try to keep my real life and my Chani-life separate, but they mix a lot. I've tried in the past to make Chani my RL nickname, but it doesn't stick. It's easier that way, I guess. I suppose then if I meet someone from online IRL, then I'll know right off, because they'll call me Chani!

It's also just a better name that plain ol' Jessica. Thus why I've kept Lady Chani forever and not come up with anything else. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, ya know?

I've always liked the name Raven. It has nothing to do with Raven-Symone, Teen Titans, or Edgar Allan Poe. It just happens to be on a short list of nouns that double as good first names.

I liked the word Nightshade because it sounds pretty and it's a poisonous plant, like belladonna or foxglove. However, Raven Foxglove or Raven Belladonna don't sound as good.  So we put it together and get Raven Nightshade, Miss Nightshade if you're nasty.

It came together when I thought of the idea that everyone needed a "goth" name, a stripper name, a drag queen name, and/or a porn star name. Raven Nightshade functions as all of the above in various combinations.

I used to use the name Astraea on several IM programs, because I'm a Virgo. Astraea is a star goddess from Greek mythology who was the last of the gods to abandon mankind after the end of the Golden Age. Zeus rewarded her by placing her in the sky as the constellation Virgo.

I picked Imaginary Bad Bug specifically for IRG when it was launched.  I wanted something SKU-related, yet abstract in some way, so IBB it was.

Hi, my screen name is Ragnarok and so obviously I use it because I'm deep into Norse mythology.

Actually I started using it because of Final Fantasy VI.

I do like Norse mythology and I researched what Ragnarok meant before I ever used it as a name. But my first encounter with the word was the Esper/Sword, that's what made me interested in the first place.

The first several boards I ever posted at were Final Fantasy based, so it was a logical choice, if not an original one. I've gotten used to it over the years, though I often wish I had something a little more unique. Nothing ever comes to mind, I think I said that in my first post here.

Nice, it would reference back to the whole Shiori hatching out of the cocoon thing in the movie as well as the butterfly -> leaf thing in the elevator in BR Arc

I was thinking more Black Rose Arc myself when I picked it, but you know... that part with Shiori is hands down my favorite scene in the movie (not to mention the music behind it. ).  In fact, that scene may be my favorite scene in all of anime, period.  (That I've seen, anyway.)

After I saw Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring in theatres on my 12th birthday, I got really into LotR. So, one day, I decided to do this Middle Earth Name Generator, and I got Nilamarthiel as one of my Elvish names. Well, I thought it was so pretty that I used it everywhere I went.

It's just my last name.

My nickname was figured out 6 years ago. At first I wanted to call myself Claire in RPG (I loved this name), but it was already used by someone else. Dlaire is my nick for now, sometimes I use "godly August" (empress from book) or "porcelain doll" (invective from chistian camp, but I liked it).

But it's a nice last name. My last name is tragically ugly so I don't use it anywhere and I've been tempted to change it to my mother's maiden name, or my grandmother's maiden name. The only thing stopping me is my grandad and my father are easily the two people I respect most in my life and since neither of them have had the experience of carrying someone for 9 months I'd feel a little disrespectful to shirk my name like that.

Anyway. This isn't my usual internet monkier either, because I was kind of between internet monkiers at the time. I had a pretty long stream of animu related names that I cut off about four years back that I didn't even know WHY I was masquarading as Washuu from Tenchi anymore. Then I fell into a similar pattern of dark, mythology related names, but most of them were taaaaaaaaken when my friend wanted me to sign up for Second Life so I could converse with furries and penisgrief. I forget what actually made me choose Hinotori other than it meant fire bird/phoenix and I like Tezuka, but it followed me here. I've since regretted changing my internets name so many times and forced myself to settle for a unique form name I can use damn near everywhere other than WoW and this is basically the only place other than my occasional jaunts to SL where this gets any practise.

Part of me kind of wishes I'd have just sucked it up and kept using the name Kaiou Arisugawa even after I started thinking Sailor Moon was lame. Utena never got lame though. o:

OH AND FUN FACT: I know a girl who found a name on a Jedi Name Generator and got her LOL IRL name legally changed to it. She's my hero.

Now you're making me wish it was. Sadly it's a fairly normalish sounding name that could've concievably came from somewhere else if she hadn't told everyone about it.

I'm so uncreative with names. Which is why I'm using my real name.
I remember having several screen names a few years back, but I didn't like them and it felt less personal to me to use them so I started signing up with my own name.

And we miss our Rejection Demon, too.
