You have to sign up for the e-mail listing to see the full version of the video.
...and I think I'm still the only Otep fan here. Heh, still worth a try to turn other people into their music.

What good tastes everyone has! Now I have new music to sample, which I love to do!!!
Hmmm... I really like going to concerts. My 3 favorites were:
Tori Amos - New Orleans
Nine Inch Nails - Houston
Tool - small theater in Texas
Of course, the top two on that list are always on my ipod as I have all their albums.
I'm always looking for new Japanese music to listen too, after all the Utena soundtracks of course, but I can't stand when I download something and it ends up sounding like Mariah Carey (which grates on my nerves). Rules for ipod: No R&B, no country. Unless, of course, it's The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Others I like:
Nirvana
The Cure
Cake
Beck
Metallica
P.O.E.
Gorillaz
Regina Specktor
David Bowie
Madonna
Marilyn Manson

You're not exactly a big fan of hers either I see. I can understand that feeling but there is one song which I cannot stand which seems to be way too popular especially at weddings and that song is Whitney Houston's version of "I Will Always Love You".
There is something about how she sings that song especially the chorus that REALLY REALLY rubs me the wrong way, to me its grates on my nerves like fingerails on the blackboard.

Thank you! It's also entirely too popular with the karaoke crowds... DREADFUL! However, not as bad as a mother & son duet of "Afternoon Delight". Audience *coughs* looks away.

Whitney Houston did a horrible job on that song. I've always hated that cover. Dolly Parton, however, did an excellent job, and I normally dislike her music.
Speaking of covers, I think my favorite is that Ahmet and Dweezil Zappa version of 'Hit Me'. HOLY SHIT that song is hot. I am not a fan of Brit, she's overprocessed and her image was the biggest joke ever. I heard that song and hated it. But the Zappa boys' cover... dayum. That is some sexy music right there.

...or are we just thinking that because of the AMV?

You've no idea how much of this I was subjected to by my mother and Bob.

Are you referring to this Utena AMV?Yasha and Frosty wrote:

I am sure glad that I am not alone in hating that version of that song.
Edit: Fixed spelling

Lol you guys.
And when I looked up this topic, I immediately thought "Sarah Slean"... AND THERE IT WAS ON SOMEONE'S FAVOURITES. So I love you forever.
I love Mars Volta.
Let's see...
Masami Okui/Megumi Hayashibara are all time favourites. Sorry, they're old school and poppy, but they're practically the Queens of Anime Music.

LUNA SEA
Judy (Jude?) and Mary
TommyHeavenly6 (Or TommyFebruary6.) <-- awesome shit
Oasis
The Cardigans
The Academy Is...
Utada Hikaru's new stuff.

Go go Utada Hikaru in Passion! I heard that song and it sounded like the wind falling in love. I swear to god, I could listen to it forever.

Yes! Try 186 times, my ipod count for the song. Downloaded maybe 2 months ago, after hearing the English version in the opening of Kingdom Hearts. She is amazing! I also like "Game" Ayumi Hamasaki's voice paired with astounding classical music. I read on wikipedia.com that Ayumi was Utada's rival or some such.

I think when it comes to... aesthetics, Ayumi takes down Hikaru. She's had way more albums (which are mostly of good quality) and they're creative. I also think she's Japan's #1 selling female artist, ever? But! Utada does have the #1 selling individual album. So, in that sense (when you're thinking of numbers) it's up for debate. But with creative artistry, Hikaru is definitely the most versatile.

I'm currently addicted to Irish punk -- I've been annoying my roommate by blaring Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys at what I consider to be reasonable hours.
I'm also listening to the Decembrists, Death Cab for Cutie, and the Unicorns a lot lately, which is my boyfriend's fault.
Other than that, my playlist is largely classic rock, early metal, early punk...my sister berates me for having a playlist consisting mostly of things from the late seventies/early eighties.

People still listen to the Unicorns? Somehow I thought they were going to just completely disappear, since everything else those kids did was so short lived and so...not talked about. I'm surprised. (Although, that could just be because I have such a narrow perspective that whenever I don't listen to something as much as I used to it seems to me like the entire world has stopped caring as well. Not that I've stopped caring about the Unicorns, exactly. I just never listen to them anymore. Something about their appeal dropped when I found out I could never see them live again. )
Uhh...so. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Goto Maki. There's something really fascinating about a woman who goes from this to this.

I started listening to them pretty recently; my best friend recommended them to me what, two months ago? So yeah, I haven't really gotten tired of them yet, since they're still featured pretty prominently on my writing soundtrack.

I must talk to the wrong people.
I'm not heavily (By which I mean not at all) into bands or genres of any nationality, so that's a large part of it.
For the longest time I thought X Japan's music was actually from the anime X, having not seen the movie or series. The paltry information I have on the band came from Wikipedia when I found out that wasn't the truth.

Thread Resurrection!
I listened to a heck of a lot of music on the way to AWP, so I thought I'd throw my list of preferred tunes in.
Thanks to the fab mix CD Katz made for me when she was my Secret Santa, I am now currently obsessed with The Bird and The Bee.
I never knew of this band before I got that mix CD and I swear it was absolutely perfect; I listen to it all the time.
Other Fab Music:
Nouvelle Vague
Florence + The Machine
The Ditty Bops
Neko Case
The Decemberists
Flight of the Concords
Poe (thanks to Yasha)
Aimee Mann
Sleater-Kinney
Splendora
Hole
Jack Off Jill
Metric
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Death Cab for Cutie
The Hold Steady
The Smashing Pumpkins
Nirvana
Regina Spektor
Feist
The Mountain Goats
Tori Amos
and of course, my now and forever favorites, Amanda Palmer and The Dresden Dolls .

I have always loved, and will always love, Coheed & Cambria. They were a driving force behind some of my earlier writings. Other favorites include H.I.M. and any SNK soundtrack I can get my hands on.

Woo-hoo for thread resurrection ~
Gorillaz, Death Cab, Nine Inch Nails, Coheed & Cambria, Cake, Garbage, Modest Mouse, The Beatles, A Perfect Circle and David Bowie are all favorites of mine that have already been mentioned by other lovely people .
I'll add to that selection the following:
The Pillows (<- responsible for the FLCL sound track )
Hot Hot Heat
Franz Ferdinand
Rob Zombie
Outkast
The Kaiser Chiefs
Gotan Project
Lily Allen
The Scissor Sisters
3OH!3
Kasabian
Mika
The Teddybears
Rammstein
&
Jonathan Coulton (a recent addition)
And speaking of soundtracks, that no one seems to have brought up Cowboy Bebop yet is probably a crime. (And if I just missed it, shame on me, for I am willing to risk looking like an idiot because I was too lazy to double check a thread .) The music from Loveless gets a bump from me and SKU tunes go without saying .
Edit: couldn't speel my way out of a paper bag.
