[Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

In a thriving metropolis known as Commerce City, the moon opens its eye and people step out into the night air.  It's a Friday night and with the setting of the sun, citizens forget the stories of the crime in the city.  They push it out of their minds to enjoy the evening because there are superheroes.  They feel safe, protected, but where there are superheroes, there are super villains.

Up on 3rd Sreet, after midnight, an armored car pulls up to the First Exchange Bank where three men are engaged in their duty or taking the day's receipts from the local casino.  Little do these good, law abiding citizens know what's in store for them...

**

Raul sighed in frustration and looked at his Rolex.  Once again, she was running late.  How on Earth were they supposed to get there on time now?  For all he knew someone else would get to there and then things would get a little too... hot.

He leaned against the sleek, black Monte Carlo SS that he'd spent the last of his inheritance purchasing – just so she could ride around in acceptable style.  The car was supercharged with 300 horsepower, Corinthian leather interior and a sound system that could make a kitten purr.  It wasn't necessarily his style, but she refused to ride in the car he used to have.

The front door opened and she stepped out.  Raul looked her up and down.

“Oh no, girl,” he said, his voice higher than your average guy.  “You aren't going to wear that into LoDo.  You know we're approaching late summer and did you forget that those heels catch on the grates down there?  The Fendi's will look just as good and they'll match your handbag.”

Raul put his hand on his hip and cocked en eyebrow.  They were already late and sending her back up to change would just add another half an hour at least onto their timing.  "I guess you could make it work if you let your hair down.  You're just going to have to watch your step, Haley.  Don't make me cry, honey."

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

Lisa pulled the pins out of her hair and ran her fingers through it, destroying hours of the hairdresser's toil and coming up with a cute tousled look. "Better, sweetie?" She huffed and rolled her eyes. "The Fendi's are soooooooooo uncomfortable, and comfort is a priority when you're about to rob a bank." Giggling, she skipped in a circle and ended up in front of Raul. "I look fabulous, right? Just in case. You never know when they'll snap the pictures."

Her eyes narrowed, and she waited for him to open the car door, tapping her foot. "Dearest, we need to make sure that we can get away quickly. Remember, park in the alleyway between the bank and the art gallery. I'll be looking for you there." She pouted stylishly, and stepped into the car once the door was open. After a moment or two of driving, she murmured, "Raul, sweetie, wake me when we get to the bank. I was just agonizing over what to wear to my big debut all night, and I think I need a quick nap."

With that, her eyes closed, and the car ran on.

((Shall I play Raul as well?))

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

Raul tilted his head as Lisa stopped before him.  "Fabulous."

He gave her a quick faux kisss on each cheek before opening the passenger door for her.  With the way the traffic was at this time of the night with so many people leaving LoDo as opposed to going into that sector of downtown, he wasn't sure if she'd have the time for the nap she wanted, but he could drive a little slower so she could get her few winks in.  But then again, they were already late.

The drive took about twenty minutes and Raul was relieved to see the armored car was still there, one of the guards leaning against it with a lit cigarette.  He drove casually past the bank and circled around to park in the alley he was ordered to.  Now he had to wake her.

Reaching one hand into the inner pocket of his jacket - just in case - he gently shook Lisa.  "Haley.  Wake up girl.  We're here."

((Raul's mine to play. *giggles* Though feel free to npc him minorly if needed))

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

Lisa's eyes snapped open, and she noted Raul's hand in his jacket. "Oh give it up, you big silly. You won't have to do a thing." Stretching, yawning, Lisa squinched her eyes tight, fashionably smearing her eyeliner even further. "Hair?" she asked, and Raul produced a pick. After fluffing her hair, she said, "Compact?" A compact of MAC Studio Tech in NC15 was produced, and Lisa eyed herself critically. Squinching her eyes shut once more to get the proper distribution of smears in her smoky, mysterious, bank-robbing look, she glanced up at Raul. "All right. Am I ready?"

(and with that... bedtime. Tomorrow, angel!))

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

"They won't know what hit them.  Knock them dead.  I'll be waiting right here," Raul said as he stowed away the pick and compact.   He got out of the car and opened the door for Lisa.  As she walked off toward the bank, he leaned back and waited.  He almost wished he had time to go peruse the art gallery.  They had the most wonderful collection.

((Feel free to place the armored car guards wherever you so choose.))

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

Lisa strolled casually up to the armored car, pulling a pack of cigarettes out of her blazer pocket and placing one between her pouting lips, hunting for a lighter in the elegant little black bag she carried. If her walk past the window of the car and then back to tap on it was a little too studied, she didn't notice, and neither did the guard, who eyed her appreciatively and cracked the window open. "Can I help you, miss?" the guard asked, grinning.

She took the cigarette from between her lips. "Got a light?" she asked, throwing him a flirtatious glance.

"Yeah, I do," he said, digging in his pocket and rolling the window down the rest of the way. "Here." He flicked the lighter, cupping his hand over the flame to protect it.

Wrapping her lips around the filter, she leaned forward to touch the tip of the cigarette to the flame, but suddenly drew back. "Oh... I forgot. I do have one." She raised her hand, and suddenly the man's head was engulfed in carefully controlled flames. He didn't even have time to scream before his vocal cords were burned away, leaving her with a quick and relatively quiet kill that she didn't regret even a little, even though it was the first. She chased a flame over to the tip of her cigarette, and then extinguished all but that glowing ember.

The corpse shifted in its seat, its hollow, charred skull knocking against the truck door and dusting her sleeve with flakes of greasy ash. "Ewwww!" Lisa cried and shook her arm frantically, then realized that if the other guards' attention hadn't been drawn already, it was drawn now. Carefully, she collected a small ball of fire in her palm and walked toward the back of the truck.

((If that's too strong a power, I'll edit-- I haven't got the scale yet.))

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

The two men at the back of the truck heard Lisa's exclamation and cocked their heads.  The one shrugged to the other and rounded the back of the truck.  His eyes took in the gorgeous coutenance before him.  Wow was she a looker.  He shot a look back where his buddy was standing, a location where his friend couldn't see the beautiful babe out on the street.

"Hello there," he said casually.  "You know, this is a pretty rough town for a lady to be traveling by herself."  He smoothed back the side of his hair and adjusted his cap.  "Allow me the pleasure of escorting you where you wish to be."

((no, your power level is right.  Remember the average human only has 24 health.  Just keep in mind how flame as hot as yours will effect the other things around.))

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

Lisa stepped toward the guard, carefully keeping her hand cupped around the flame. She flashed a smile, sweet and a little shy, and brushed the hair from her eyes with her free hand. "That's awfully nice of you... I think I'm a bit lost." She stopped, a few paces away from the end of the truck. "I was supposed to go to the club with my friends. Do you know where the Fox is? I had the address somewhere, but I seem to have lost it."

The guard stepped forward, smiling a rather dashing smile, and Lisa suddenly had second thoughts about killing him. He was actually pretty good-looking... she felt her resolve weaken as he spoke. "The Fox is back that way..." His eyes widened, and Lisa realized he'd seen the charred head of the man she'd killed. "....Burt?"

Thinking quickly, Lisa turned to look and yelped a little when her eyes rested on the corpse. "Oh my god!" she cried, hoping her voice was screamy enough to sound like panic. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched the living guard, and her racing mind suddenly stumbled over the perfect resolution. She flicked her fingers, and flame burst into life around the guard's head-- not touching him, but burning away his air supply and lightly scorching his face and hair. "Oh my GOD!" she cried again, hearing the other guard's footsteps pounding toward her. Flames licked up along her arm, destroying the Armani suit jacket, and despite the twinge in her heart as the jacket burned, she reassured herself that it had been last season's, and she'd gotten a lot of use out of it. It had to have been the second time she'd worn it.

Looking wildly at the other guard, she feigned shock too great to speak as her entire arm was engulfed in flames. The guard whose air supply she'd cut off toppled to the ground behind her, and she extinguished the flames. The third guard was older, and not terribly attractive. Lisa dropped the act and reached for him with her flaming brand of an arm, directing it forward and through his chest.

He died after a strangled yelp, and Lisa turned her attention back to the handsome, semiconscious guard moaning and panting on the ground. Carefully, she brought back the fire around his head, keeping it just far enough away from the skin and cool enough not to burn him badly, but again, close enough to cut off his air supply. He'd have a scar around his neck, but there was nothing for that. Once he'd lapsed into unconsciousness, Lisa glanced toward the back of the truck. She didn't want to have to rifle through the dead men's keys, but necessity made her search them. She didn't have to search long-- the keys were locked to a chain around the guards' waists, and melting through metal was child's play. Once she had the doors open, she knew that she'd better move fast, and so she pulled out her cell and dialed Raul, eyeing the boxes of paper money.

"Honey, I need you closer now. I've got a bunch to carry." Hanging up before he could answer, Lisa glanced at the dolly sitting beside one of the crates and grimaced, wiping her hands on her skirt as if she'd already touched it. Faster, faster her mind begged. If they got caught now, she'd have no choice but to turn this place into a hell on earth.

Besides, the skirt was new, and she'd hate to lose it.

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

Raul didn't even reply before turnignt he car on and pul;ling around to the front of the bank.  He stopped next to the armored car, grimacing a little seeing the state of the one man cindered corpse.  He rounded to where Lisa was and glanced down at the only nont cripsy man.

"Ooo... He's a looker," he said and pulled his attention away from the rather well-built man on the ground to the back of the truck where Lisa was moving the dolly into a better position.  Raul jumped into the back of the truck and grabbed a box and picked it up.

Something wasn't right.

It felt too light.  Raul paused and ripped the top open.

Empty.

He dropped the box and moved to another one.

Empty.

He turned and showed the empty crate to Lisa.  Where they set up and some hero about to come swooping down or did they just get there too late and the money was already inside the bank?

He looked at Lisa expectantly for a moment before dropping down from the back of the truck and pulling his handgun out.  It might not do anything against a potential hero, but it made him feel a little better.

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

Lisa scowled at the empty boxes. "Either we got here too late, or this is a setup. Either way, we're leaving. Now." She brushed past Raul and stepped toward the car. "There's probably a camera monitoring us right now. Cover your face. It'll already have caught mine." She opened the car door and slammed it after her, rolling down the window as Raul climbed into the driver's seat. The car slid smoothly into gear, and as Raul backed down the alley, Lisa pointed at the truck. It exploded, sending up shards of metal and a plume of fire and smoke.

"Damn," she snarled. "There went my Prada." The car turned and began to roll smoothly forward. "We might as well go to the club. I'll see if I can pick up another lead there."

Re: [Villain - Commerce City]Combustible Countinghouse Caper

Raul winced slightly as the truck exploded behind them.  There went another cute man.  Lisa wanted to go to the club.  He wasn't a big fan of the club, but he'd follow orders.  Maybe he could talk her into buying him a drink.  Something frozen and fruity would hit the spot.

Tired of the silence, if you could call the brooding silent, Raul grabbed a randon cd and put in some music.  Lisa was thinking too loudly again and he needed a distraction on the way to the club.  He wasn't sure what Lisa expected to find there.
