Games, yay!

So let's hear it! Which games do you like playing?
My favourite game series are Silent Hill, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid. But I have nearly no chance to play any of the new-generation games and I hardly have time for this these days anyway, so I've basically quit gaming. But I still like some games. etc-love

Btw, has anyone played the Utena game? What's it like?

Re: Games, yay!

I usually play the Rockman X Series, Street Fighter Series, Quake 1 and FlyFF emot-keke

I heard the Utena game was like story-based-choice-y-ish game. Like a "choose your own adventure" type game.

Re: Games, yay!

I've been in a video game slump for quite a while now, but some of my favorites are:

Final Fantasy (all of them really, but especially VI and VII)
Just about anything Squaresoft
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night emot-dance
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town

and always old school Mario and Zelda!  NES and SNES are two of the best consoles ever made! emot-biggrin

Re: Games, yay!

I just moved away from all my consoles, so I get to play pretty rarely (yay college. or something), but I still have many loves.

The Final Fantasy series (especially VII-- I don't think anything has ever surpassed this as my favorite game)
Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Fatal Frame II
Fable

I desperately want to play Harvest Moon, but I can't seem to find it anywhere for a price I can afford (granted, this is around 15 bucks) and so I'm sulking. And consoling myself with The Sims.

Hurr hurr hurr. I have no consoles, and only an old crappy computer. My current favorites are Morrowind, Arcanum, and a translated version of Romancing Saga 3 played on a SNES emulator. emot-keke

Oh, and I recently (beginning of summer) replayed my old LucasArts games-- Monkey Island 1 and 2, and Loom. Oh, the nostalgia.

Re: Games, yay!

Whoo! Xenogears and Symphony of the Night have both been accounted for. What excellent taste you folks have. emot-smile Those were my top two.

SoTN is just damn bloody fun, but Xenogears...wow. The SKU of video games. etc-love Also, Ramsus = Saionji. Seriously. I felt bad for poor Ramsus, too. emot-frown (I mean, he has that gorgeous girlfriend and he wears little black briefs to bed, wtf.)

I used to play Everquest, too. You kids and your WoW.

Re: Games, yay!

I never gamed until my evil friend Anj (the same one who got me addicted to SKU) - showed my FF VII -

I am absolutely addicted to Final Fantasy VII.  In fact I'm playing it again, for the nth time - this time I'm doing a CLAMP "X" version with the character names.

I own and have tried FF VIII and IX, but can't get that far.  Being such a newbie to gaming - I find them too challenging.

I also own Ehrgeiz simply because it has VII characters and Sephiroth does this wonderfully sexy "hmph" at the end of his battles.  I can't actually play the game . . .

I hope to upgrade to a PS-2 once the -3's come out and get FFX, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, and Dirge of Cerebus.

And, then hopefully, someday . . . Crisis Core will be out and then I'll buy a PSP JUST for that game.

Damn interesting characters and storylines . . . grumble, grumble.

Re: Games, yay!

Hooray for WoW!  (Warlocks rock school-devil )  Lately, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is also very good.  My first love was Baldur's Gate II though.  So dramatic and great characters to have in your party.  I still love Keldorn emot-dance  Has anyone else played Legend of Dragoon?  It was for the PS1 and is the best console game I've ever played.  The combos you have to pull off made me more interested in the Final Fantasy style battle system.

Re: Games, yay!

I'm pretty simplistic when it comes to games.  Civilization III (I can't get IV to work on my computer...), Princess Maker 2, The Sims 2 (with all expansions), and City of Heroes are my games of choice for the most part, with an occasional Tony Hawk or Dance Dance Revolution console game thrown in.

I've played Final Fantasy VII and VIII, but I've found that I'm just not a big RPG fan.  It took me forever to finish both of them, and I'm not really inclined to pick up any of the others.  I prefer just watching my husband play them instead.

Re: Games, yay!

Hoo, got a couple hours?

Okay, I'll keep it short. Right now for consoles, I'm playing Xenosaga Episode I, Robotech: Battlecry(why, oh why can't the Another Century's Episode games see a release over here?), and I bought Dragon Quest VIII today.

For PCs: Offline, I've been playing Civilization III and Return to Castle Wolfenstein(only because I haven't been playing anything else, really), and online... Maple Story is my crack. But I also have a presence on Flyff, Ran Online, Nostale, AnimaRO(private RO server), Trickster, and I recently picked up Rappelz. (hmm, I wonder if anyone's grabbed the character name "Himemiya Anshii"? That would make a great name for an Asura mage, IMO. lol.)

I won't get into what I'm playing on my PDA. I use it mostly for reading fanfics right now, anyway.

In my heart of hearts I know I should play these (And Rome: Total War etc-love) because they sound like the kind of game I would absolutely adore. The rest of me knows I'd probably never put them down. It's basically like real time strategy meets Sim City, right?

Edit: Nope, I think you had me playing Morrowind.

Also, Ramsus = Saionji

Oooh, I never thought of that comparison!  So very true.

Aside from my darling Xenogears, I like...

Final Fantasy (VIII's my favorite for some reason)
Valkyrie Profile
Xenosaga (KOS-MOS. Yes.)
Myst (Hurray for first videogames! emot-dance)

Has anyone else played Legend of Dragoon?

I played it, back in the day!  I remember the storyline being somewhat unoriginal, but I really liked the battles.

Re: Games, yay!

Hmm, I have a special interest in RPGs, but they're hardly all I play.

-Final Fantasy (especially VI, VII, VIII, and IX)
-Metal Gear Solid
-Tales of Phantasia
-DDR
-Fighting Games (DoA2, Soul Calibur, SSB, Inuyasha)
-Katamari Damacy
-Anything Mario, really
-Anything Zelda
-Bust-a-Move, Tetris-- those sorts of puzzle games

Though, more recently I mostly play computer games.

-Starcraft
-Warcraft (2 and 3-- haven't allowed my lifeforce to be sucked away by WoW yet)
-Diablo 2
-Ultima Online, once upon a time

and my favorite...

-Unreal Tournament! (2003, mostly, until I can afford the glory of 2k4 and vehicles... *drool*)

Re: Games, yay!

Right now I'm playing Okami for the PS2, which is amazing.  You need to play this game.  Now.  It's made by the same studio that made Viewiful Joe.

Most of you have listed the classic RPG, so I won't waste space doing this as well.  However, you may have not heard of Ico, or it's sequel, Shadow of the Colossus, both of which I highly recommend.

Edit: I like puzzle and rhythm games too.

The Ace Combat series are the only games I can think of off hand that haven't been mentioned yet.

Although I know nothing about aircraft or anything related to them, flying around in a jet is extremely fun.

To be honest, I was the first time through as well. emot-redface I've played it three times (ridiculously rare for me to replay a game), and the second time really did clear up a whole lot, and I'm glad I had the patience for it because the richness and depth of the storyline, and the world they create around it, amazes me to this day. But I'm also a sucker for any piece of work that so thoroughly creates its world. (Crest of the Stars, Tolkien, etc.)
