Oh no... emot-frown I wouldn't have any idea where you could watch it, then. Sorry about that.
That site is where I watched about a third of the series until I realized my local library had the DVDs.

Re: Versailles no Bara

Thank you for the link, Nocturnalux! Actually my dad bought the series for me today because it was rather inexpensive (40€  / 51$) compared to other anime. Still my whole pocket money for the month but I can sell it later. (Not planning on doing that but there's the option.) Torrenting stuff makes me uncomfortable. /:

Re: Versailles no Bara

I watched 8 hours TV per day on the weekend and finished the whole series.
It was really cool but the ending was so sad.
spoiler for the ending:
This show aired for kids in my country and I didn't expect everyone to f*cking die. Oscar's voice actress did a really good job in episode 39-40 (also in the others) and I actually cried in a crying-with-noises kind of way.
The ending was just sad and not uplifting at all. SKU's ending was sad too but I didn't feel this down after it and I felt even less sad after the SKU movie. (Probably because in the SKU movie they survive and in the SKU series there's a chance Utena is alive somewhere.)
Even if Andre and Oscar had not died because they were shot, they still wouldn't be able to be happy and Oscar would die anyways. emot-gonk

It's also kinda sad that there seems to be no real fanbase. 3/4 of the fanfiction is in French but at least there are some AMVs on youtube.

Now that I've watched the series the life action movie is easier to understand because before I had no idea who the people were supposed to be (for example Jeanne/Rosalie). (I didn't watch it with full attention though so it might be just that.)

Another thing I wanted to say is that everybody treated the horses badly in the series, even Oscar.

Overall it was good!

Re: Versailles no Bara

Wow that was really cute and the actors/actresses are indeed beautiful! Too bad I didn't really understand much except for their names and "I love you". In other videos where you can see the characters in their uniforms they look so good, too. Uniforms are cool. emot-biggrin
Right now I'm also trying to read the manga online since you can't buy it at all here or a single volume for 145€ (no joke). The manga seems to be more light hearted with all the silly faces the charcters do from time to time. (I'm at chapter 18 but I need to find another place to read it because they stopped translating.)

Re: Versailles no Bara

emot-biggrin glad you liked it.

These are parts from the gazillion musicals of Berubara done since 1974 (yep they are still running)
and they are done by no other that the all female takarazuka revue
Oscar was inspired by princess knight who was inspired by the male impersonators of that theatre stage

the costumes are incredible

http://www.kobe-np.co.jp/rentoku/takaraduka/photo_gallery/201405//img/b_06927717.jpg

this is oscar on the pegasus  clad in golden armour, the way blind andre thought of her painting

(more pics here http://www.kobe-np.co.jp/rentoku/takara … 7712.shtml and here http://www.daily.co.jp/gossip/takara/ph … h=06927622

these are from earlier this year (and there were 2 more production this year)

but my favourite oscar and andre of all time will always be these 2

145€ for a manga????????????????????????emot-aaa
what the
I got mine from a book off for 200yen each of the 5 volumes
(but it;s in japanese XD )
and yes the manga has silly faces a lot XD lightens up the mood a bit, but is freaking dark with all the deaths in the end
I adore the manga version more than the anime one because it also shows more of the oscar-rosalie romance which I'm so fond of XDD

I don't know which one I like better yet but I agree with you here. There is a scene about Rosalie dealing with her crush on Oscar from the musical on youtube. emot-keke (You have probably seen it, there is somebody with the same avatar as your IRG one in the comments so I thought it might be you.)

Re: Versailles no Bara

http://youtu.be/OnpIxIM2VXU

someone uploaded my favourites emot-biggrin

what is amazing about these 2 performers is that they only had 6 days to master their lines and characters.

every performance in general has about a month to be prepared, but in this one, these two only did a guest appearance

the revue has 5 troupes, andre is the top star of star troupe, oscar is the top star of cosmos troupe, and together were invited to guest star for a week in the snow troupe's version of berubara, the reason these two only had six days to prepare was because andre had just come back from a tour in Taiwan, and Oscar had just finished one of the two runs of her own show.

Another amazing thing is that these two used to be in star troupe, and everyone was sad that we couldn't see them performing together anyone once oscar move to another troupe.

So that one performance was a reunion.
their oscar-andre combination was considered one of the best in the long 40 years of running the shows etc-love

I would love it if you would tell me what you think of their performance

Re: Versailles no Bara

Wow you know quite a lot about these shows. D:
It's really cool how they managed to get this good in just 6 days! I really like how the actresses portray emotions, in general the show seems to be rather dramatic. (The anime and manga were dramatic as well though.^ ^)
There's actually an English website with more information about Takarazuka Revue too.
Have you ever seen a performance of them life?

The day before yesterday I also read volume 3 to 9 of the manga.
Almost everybody (of the main characters) is dead by now but there's still a whole volume left...

Re: Versailles no Bara

Lol I'm a fan of the Revue, I have seen them live 3 times (only sadly)
and I follow everything they do emot-smile
my avatar even is a performance poster of my favourite junior star emot-biggrin (or my "son" as I like to refer to her XD )
tkrzk-Revue version of berubara is hmm kind of over the top dramatic
most troupes over dramatize the roles, and this is the reason I love these two because they were so natural.

tkrzkRevue berubara is a play that everyone loves and hates with passion, me included, lol, because it's so over the top, and ridiculous, and way too sparkly( that's to love for) and andre takes 100 bullets to freaking die, and you are like: "stop singing mutherfucka just die already" LOOOOL but then you see oscar in tears, and you love her and feel for her and get in tears yourself, and then you end up hating the ridiculousness, loving the sparkles, loving oscar, and hating everything but loving it all together. pfft I own DVD with berubara ... and I intend to own mawwwrr and I hate it but I love it  AHAHAHAHHA

^this is the exact feeling I have about berubara musicals, and my "son"just performed an andre song in some special even wearing kimono and hakama, and was so cool and now I want a berubara with that kid being andre ahhahaha (this is what berubara does to you)

http://youtu.be/hhEVwf5vqLk?t=2m14s <--this and then you have the top star singing a Der Tod song(from elizabeth musical) in the same attire XDD

about the manga T____T yeah I know the feeling, and the last volume is all about the nobles and mari, kind of boring [without Oscar] but what can we do, this story needs to end following the historical events

You can't watch the video anymore because the youtube account was deleted. :-/

On youtube you can watch one whole play (the one with focus on Marie & Fersen I think but I'm not sure). The beginning was a little weird but overall it was cool! Actually I'm not really into musical music but I can like anything if it's related to my fave anime. (I'd still watch it if the characters would be rapbattling each other too so... emot-biggrin)
You're right, the drama is kinda funny/hilarious but the whole play is still exciting and entertaining. (The drama probably adds to it, as long as it's not irl drama can be quite enjoyable.)

The 10th volume wasn't too boring, it had 2 or 3 extra stories (after the main part was finished) in which everybody was alive and more or less well.
I'm still impressed how well the story backgrounds were researched.

Andre is such a questionable dude, I mean attempted murder (kind of) and sexual assault? Although he had his reasons that's not really romantic. :b (Just my opinion, I don't hate him or something.)

yeah these accounts do not survive long lol

can you possibly copy the video title emot-tongue so I know which version you watched XD
and beginning is the epic ness of "gorannasai, gorannasai berusaiyu no baaaara" ahahhahahahaha it's an unnecessary introduction of the characters and unique to the musicals emot-tongue  it;s ridiculous, but like with everything else we fans love to hate it to love it emot-tongue

ans yeah Andre is questionable character, but I think he does what he does in an impulse but he knows where to stop and possibly is the reason why we find him okay and not a bastard. Because we all do mistakes point is to know how to stop and say sorry and never do it again.
