Everyone knows the best pairing is the Suppressed Lesbian Sandwich. What you say? You don't know what the suppressed lesbian sandwich is?
Take one lesbian (A Juri will do very well for this recipe)
Press the lesbian in between two antagonistic characters (I prefer Ruka and Shiori but Touga or Akio will do in a pinch.)
Garnish as desired.
Viola, a suppressed lesbian sandwich! Served with a shot of mind-screw and you have yourself a wonderful fanfic. 
But wait...this is supposed to be a shipping war. Well then...

That does sound quite delicious.
But my point is there are certain aspects of Shiori's character that are dependent on Juri's character. Since Juri's so different in the manga, the Shiori we know and love cannot exist in the manga. Ruka and Mikage have a completely different story. Mikage has an implied existence in the movie since his hallway of a countless signs and elevator exist. Ruka, while also having a character dependent personality, still could exist in the movie because movie!Juri is still similar to anime!Juri.
