Writing

I'm sure I'm not the only writer on these boards.
Post your stories & poems!
and review the works of others etc-love
Have fun!

Here's a poem I wrote today:

My life’s not worth living
Hopeless days and non-stop wishing.
Endless love yielded by folly
A Mysterious hall with décor of holly.
Peaceful silence is lonely pain
Suicide thoughts happen again.

Loneliness is a curse to me
A mockery of those who see.
My mind’s my world, I ignore yours
Alone again with countless doors.

My world’s a labyrinth to the unknowing eye.
Deep in its core, I long to die.
An endless maze with endless days
Alone in here, a wondrous gaze.

Silenced by you, my screaming unheard
These thoughts of love, so absurd.

An endless melody plays around my haunted corridor
But because of this I must confess I’ll bleed upon the floor.
Lying here, slowly dying doesn’t seem so bad
I’ll lie here wishing for love I never had.

I'll post a story after the thread gets going etc-love

May those who accept their fate be granted happiness. May those who defy it be granted Glory.

I'm midway through writing a mock series episode script so hopefully I'll post that up soon.

I liked your poem by the way:)

The Infallible Simulation of a Perpetual Motion Machine

A spiral, a pyramid, a pentagram
Hypertesseract, countercataract
The perfect imitation of eternity

Like an old harlot crucified on her bed
Like a city evacuated for a nuclear test

A frequency, a pendulum, a glass prism
Hyperevolution, counterregression
The perfect imitation of eternity

Like a demigod driven mad by mercury
Like a bewitched mass grave of scientists

Give me the shape of time
A naivistic gallery
Give me the formula of time
The mantra for a human
Give me the face of time
The element of the Holy Ghost
Give me the motion of time
A nostalgic wish

The skeleton of time, the intestines of time, the rotting carcass of time!

The skeleton of time, the intestines of time, the rotten carcass of time!

The Symbiotics of the Ouroboros and the Phoenix

Cellular morphology:
I create a new root ex nihilo
Mutation, evolution, a normal future
I destroy myself all over again
Vestigality, devolution, a normal past

Shivan morphology:
I create a new root ex nihilo
Mythology, radioactivity, a normal birth
I destroy myself all over again
Archaeology, decomposition, a normal death

DNA, RNA, random choice, a survival,
and the symbiotics of the status quo

Adaptation, assimilation, random choice, a selection
and the symbiotics of the status quo

Ascent, descent,
Visualize the fossils within your body
Ascent, descent,
The cosmic genealogy of rebirths and redeaths
Ascent, descent,
From beginning to end, from end to beginning
Ascent, descent,
The absolute conservation of matter and energy

Ascent, descent,
Ascent, descent,
Ascent, descent,
Ascent, descent,
The tree of life, the family tree, the Origin

Regeneration, degeneration, the yin and the yang
Genetics, frenetics, the anagrammatic G, A, T, C
The grand biological perpetual motion machine
Of worms and rats and cockroaches
The grand biological perpetual motion machine

Everything is the same
Everything from the same source
Everything is the same
Everything towards the same end

Creation, destruction, we dance forever

...what? emot-confused

Re: Writing

Over... are we over

Over and over

And you'll take me on my back

Leaving me bruised with your kisses

Those lips that leave and take forever

Mark me with wanting

For nothing else

Can be so sweet as you

So cruel as you and your eyes

Your lips upon my own

Leaving me to ponder your mysteries

Cutting me open to your pleasure

And we get lost under the feel

We lose under the pull

I'm not ready for you

But I'll cleave myself open

Leave me as you like me

Torn apart, or sewn back whole

Just let me pretend forever

Forever in your arms

Re: Writing

And this was inspired by one part Akio and one part the band known as Mono.

Mere your Pathetic Light

Mere your pathetic light
The dawning of greatness
Of everlasting accomplishment
And yet you will fade
Like a star in the sky
In time you will fall
And falling cast no doubt upon the world
That no light is forever
No greatness lasting
A tribute to the shadow
And you will sacrifice all
Burning out and down to the earth
Where no man will catch you
Wishes will be thrust upon you
And whether you should want it or not
You will be forced to seeing them true
Forced to give all you are
And for what
What is this pathetic light
This power you think you hold
What is this heroism
This mask of kindness you should show
Mere your pathetic light
You will eventually come to know
That in the end it is but the shadow
That holds what will never go

Re: Writing

I used to write a lot, but then I got a little. Um. Lazy. (Or maybe distracted is a better word--all I do these days is draw and edit video. emot-rolleyes )

Anyway, one of my teachers told me once that this poem really impressed him, but I think it was only because I was fourteen when I wrote it. emot-rolleyes I'm more pleased with this:

My cousins consider themselves philanthropists
and they live quietly in my basement.
I often slip down to hear them speak:
they specialize in telling tales, having gone senile
and lost the ability to do much else.

And the worlds they weave are beautiful;
I regularly wear them as dresses.
Looking down into the folds of my skirt
I read about a girl:
she is old and young, beautiful and ugly,
apathetic and dramatic, she says:

"We were best friends for four months, inattentive.
We'd meet in the early morning,
he'd tell me about his boat:
'Cleanse the black off of tires,
white tracks are much classier;
they show a strong sense of control.'
He'd spit out breath mints.

'Watch out, it's coming.'
And we were taken by the tide.

"I'd leave then; we'd see each other later,
or find some way to talk if we couldn't.
'Darling, if the fates are propitious we will succeed.'
But I could never find him in the dark.

"I would whisper into the phone:
'I am here, I am naked,
we are at the sea, the water laps at our feet,
or we are in a bathroom,
and one of us is against the wall—

"'watch, we are hit by bullets of water and clay,
(sulfur and earth);
and it's in your hands now, moist and sticky;
and the rivers look like molten glass,
but less tangible—'

"'This is your home. We are an ocean.'

"Eventually the ground gave way;
courage overtook care, and he couldn't swim.
He thought he was invincible.
I left him to drown.

"Coughing, crawling on the beach,
I was an insect, his memory the sand.
But the rocks are dead and crumbled,
the sky is more attractive,

"and my wings, hidden beneath shoulder blades,
limp and shriveled from disuse, wet,
they finally spread.
I dried them in the sunlight and flew to my bedroom,
and there I saw my mother
singing a quiet lullaby."

But this story is the best thing I have ever written, I think.

Regardless, I dunno, writing isn't really one of my strengths. :/ So.

Re: Writing

“DISTANCE” [dedicated to Juri and Shiori]

I’m afraid to close this distance
Afraid of what you’ll say
Even while so close
You seem so far away
The photo on my dresser
Where your eyes reflect the sun
We made so many memories
But I’ve forgotten every one
All the letters that you wrote me
The lies you told within
I ripped them all to shreds
Just to piece them together again
Do you remember when we were young
We built a pathway through the woods
It never lead to anywhere
But we didn’t think it should
We would run and laugh till dawn
Playing all night and day
When we were together
The world around us seemed to fade away
Now here we stand on that same path
In the forest we once knew
The world has reduced it to ruin
And I feel the same way about you
I closed my eyes all this time
But now I finally see
Your eyes have always been fixed ahead
And you never turn to look at me
There’s a moment when you realize
That you feel envy from the start
I think that is the moment
When innocence leaves your heart
Do the hardships of being an adult
Balance the pain of growing up?
These relics of remembrance
Will never be enough
So I’m afraid to close this distance
Afraid of what I might do
I don’t want to see a world
That wasn't built for me and you

--
it's kind of old
so its not very good
meh
i don't get paid to write

ah, man does not exist; ah, within the darkness; ah, the sound of the waves

Re: Writing

This is a poem I wrote last year for my creative writing class. Something about it feels vaguely Utenaish, if you squint. Maybe. I seem to recall listening to the Utena OSTs when writing it, anyway.

Levity

She wants a pair of wings, feathery and white
like two clouds harnessed snugly to her back
(so they won’t drift away).

So they won’t drift away, that’s why she ties
things to herself; stubs of old memories trail behind her,
rattling like cans.

Rattling like cans as they chase her down the alley,
eyes glowing red, noses in the air, twitching. Like rats.
She ducks away.

She ducks away when people try to meet her eyes,
because then they’ll pin her down with questions,
and she doesn’t like those.

And she doesn’t like those because they remind her
of being harnessed, too snug to drift away.
The ties wear her down to a stub of herself,
and she can’t duck the things in the alley
when her eyes are pinned with doubts.

----------------------

Nessy, yours is gorgeous. And I very much agree with everyone asking if we have Seazer lurking on the boards. emot-smile

Re: Writing

Very Seazer!

Two samples:

rain woman
mostly a ghost, so unreal
holding on, hiding in
and haunting yesterdays
soul of mostly empty space
it's the rain woman
packaged up and dressed
in no slip, no drip
limited-edition plastic coating
lackluster grey-blue eyes
of clouded-crying skies
it's the rain woman
holding on, hiding in
and haunting yesterdays
dripping down, leaking in
and seeping through
a soul of mostly empty space
tornado chasing, starlight gazing
but mostly empty space

i am
I am a professional victim. I am still skies, bloodshot eyes, waking up or going to sleep at dawn. I am lazy days and wasted nights. I'm spilled milk, dark and dusty corners, and overflowing trash cans. I am broken lightbulbs, streetlamps washing out the stars. I'm missed deadlines, misplaced papers, numbed senses, and microwave dinners. I am second guesses, deadlocked dreams, practicing a misanthropic vocation. I am quiet desperation, useless protests, making all the same choices again, and again, and again. I am crumbling walls, watching life like a made-for-tv horror movie. I am reached limits, crossed lines, flicked switches; and I am not going to break.

My personal site is down right now, otherwise I'd have more angsty stuff to share. ;)

Re: Writing

Nessy: Wow. I mean, really. Just wow. If writing isn't one of your strengths I'm not sure if I'd hate or love to see something that you consider yourself good at.

dollface: It's very J/S but it doesn't sound as though it was only written for them. I think we can all relate to it more than we'd care to think about.

puella_nerdii: I love it, but I can't for the life of me tell you why that is.

rhyaniwyn: Very angsty and nice. Especially the little "I am" prose bit.

Re: Writing

etc-loveetc-loveetc-loveetc-loveetc-love

A little romantic poetry never hurt anyone....

The rain falls soft and I think of you
Each drop upon the window pane and I long for you
To be in your arms
To be lost in your eyes
In the undertow of constant desire
That being wanted, being loved
Having such affections so fruitfully returned
The night is young and I think of you
Each minute passes slowly by and I long for you
Your voice in my ear
Your lips at my neck
Lost in the feel of a generous embrace
And dare I call myself blessed
Blessings they do fade
And dare I call myself lucky
Luck is a fickle fiend
I close my eyes and dream
And dream only of you
And when I wake I call myself
Loved
Beyond measure and reason
Through the course of every season
I am loved
etc-loveetc-loveetc-loveetc-loveetc-love

Of course a little sex never hurt either.... The following are from a yet to be finished AU SKU fic staring Kozue called Cry Wolf. *sigh* It may never be finished. emot-frown

Blue is the Color (part1)
Blue is the color
As she flicks across your valleys
Journeys in to bite and suckle
What is honeyed sweet and sour
A candied breath
Blue is the color
As her fingers work around
Tug and pull
Cup and caress
The curves trailing up
The hallows in between
Blue is the color
And it washes down your throat
As her tongue offers a taste
A sample of all you have given
What she has harvested
Blue is the color
Just before your eyes lose sight
Just before you need to dream
Just before she rests against you and whispers
Promises…
To give you more
To enjoy the color
And come… into the blue

Blue is the Color (part 2)
Blue is the color
That glides down your throat
Takes over your senses
And drives you through the smoke
Blue is color
That envelops the flames
Takes a darker heart
And directs the game
Blue is the color
You can feel her inside
The way she devours
The secrets you hide
Blue is the color
It's deep and it's true
It thrusts through your walls
Covers the flowers with dew
Blue is the color
A heady rich musk
It takes what it gives
And it isn't much
You'll drown in the color
Drink it all in
You'll gasp and you'll revel
In the blue, all of her little sins

Life is short: break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile.
