Figure Skating

Hey, any of you here watch figure skating? I'm watching the NHK Cup Finals, and posting on here, so I thought I'd ask.

I love the Chinese pairs - they're so fun to watch!

Re: Figure Skating

I can ice-skate modestly well and I can move pretty quick on the ice.

The only thing is, that tricks like spinning, jumping and other fancy stuff are beyond my present abilities and I have yet to master the art of stopping without going ass-up, emot-gonk so I am forced to let myself slow down and catch the side of the rink to stop. emot-smile

Re: Figure Skating

Once upon a time I did figure skating - but that was a LONG time ago. However, I adore watching the competitions on TV, and in a way I guess I regret giving up on it, although I know my chances of ever being anything good were tiny. Haha, maybe I can get a job in figure skating emot-biggrin

Re: Figure Skating

I used to when I was little. Although when I went to the ice rink I used to race everybody. They'd laugh at me because I was fat, but you should see what that much weight does for your momentum once you're moving. cool

I used to get dragged to Disney on Ice, and it's always amazed me how pressure can influence a person. I've never seen anyone fall in Disney on Ice, and they're doing all the same crap in huge gigantic costumes. Once they're in competition, the pressure kills their knees, it's amazing.

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

Re: Figure Skating

I went to Disney on Ice once.

Yeah, I kind liked to race the other girls in my class quite a bit. Y'know, when I think of it, it's kind of funny that I did tap-dance, ballet, and figure skating when I was little 'cause that's all so girly and I'm not really like that - people are always so surprised when I tell them I used to do all those!

Actual figure skating kind of kicks Disney on Ice's ass, though... emot-tongue

Re: Figure Skating

I've always wanted to try roller derby.

Does that count?
