What if the SKU characters were supernatural/mythical creatures?

I'm about 90% certain that Jean Claude is basically what would happen if Touga were an old-ass vampire.

And if anyone insists on reading the Anita Blake series, start from the beginning and stop when you finish Obsidian Butterfly. That is the book that pretty much starts the shift from great urban fantasy to mediocre paranormal erotica.

I must respectfully disagree. Touga would have been wayyyyy better at it than Jean-Claude. When do we ever see Jean-Claude manipulate or seduce anyone but Anita? The most boring connect the dots style of manipulation and seduction, too, relying on shit any vamp would know about their politics and his own looks, respectively. Touga's already at that point at 17. He'd run circles around Jean-Claude if you gave him a few centuries to practice.

Hence, Jean-Claude gets the appellation 'Discount Touga', much as many characters *coughcoughLuciferpilotcough* have had the 'Discount Akio' name bestowed on them. Or worse, the 'Bargain Bin Akio.' We don't wanna go there, though.

I'm pretty sure there was one or two books that actually didn't have a plot besides "hump vampires and then cry about it"

I'm just... I'm just not down with that.

I want to make a mounds/nuts joke, but can't think of a good one that scans to the Almond Joy/Mounds jingle.

Miki would make a very Rice vampire easily enough. Age, temperament, everything. He could hang out with Armand and his entourage.

How isn't there Lestat/Touga fic? Or pictures?

I can easily see this happening. Miki would probably gravitate toward Louis as well as Armand.

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

Re: What if the SKU characters were supernatural/mythical creatures?

So here's the discussion we had going on in the book thread about the characters and whether they would make good vampires. But hey, why stop at vampires? Saionji would be a totally badass werewolf, don't you think? If you don't think so, what would he be? A Red Cap? A Rawhead? Something else? Tell us what you think!

......since when does a werewolf have dignity? Your chart is flawed and I refuse to accept this. Saionji would kick ASS as a werewolf, he's already got the land mine temper going on. All he needs is a little more hair. emot-tongue

I think Saionji would be better off as an Anne Rice style vampire as well.... Tie his hair back in a ribbon, put him in a dark suit and tell him to start making long, dramatic emo speeches about eternity. He's eloquent and pompous enough.

You don't think Touga would get complacent after a century or three? After all, vampiric mindfuckery makes things a lot easier. Or do you think that he wouldn't even use it short of a last resort?

Also, Saionji as a werewolf is believable because he reminds me a lot of the bastardized version of Richard we get in ABVH after Obsidian Butterfly.

In general, though, SKU characters seem to be a better fit as Anne Rice (Ricean?) vampires. They seem to have the proper level of angst and melodrama required.

Everyone kind of pairs off with Rice vamps well. Touga and Lestat, the posy lions. Saio and Louis, the angry masturbators.

Right? This needs to manifest in a larger and more fan-arty fashion, but I can't even fake the SKU style.

What's the name of the statuesque redhaired matriarchal vampire? Because she, her sister, and Juri probably have a lot to talk about.

Mikage: a merrow AKA an Irish merman.  He lacks the ugliness but he'd totally keep human souls in jars.

Akio: A long necked cetus or generic sea monster. Princesses were sacrificed to them all the time in Greek mythology.

Saionji: A beautiful beautiful male siren (sighs and blushes) etc-love

Okay, okay, okay. Saionji would be a cyclops. He's violent and suffers from unrequited love like the giant Polyphemus.

Keiko, Aiko, and Yuuko: a trio of hippocampi/sea-horses. I can't imagine them being anything but mythical beasts of burden.

Violent yes, but jealous? I was always under the impression that they lured sailors to deaths just to eat them. Naw, he'd be a brutal one-eyed giant for sure.

This makes sense. I see Mikage as a pretty, smoother male version of Disney's The Little Mermaid's Ursula. In that making a deal with him costs you your soul.

Saionji: A tengu. Having a very strong traditional Japanese vibe going on, I can see Saionji as a wrathful, very proud tengu. Bonus points for green wings.
