I've got work, but I'm hoping to be home by 6 PM EDT (10 PM GMT) and will totally hang out in chat that evening.  I've already got three things to contribute to IRG Day!  emot-dance

Re: Next Month on the 9th of June...

So...

First of all, by way of fyi, for us non-21st century people, how do we get to / use IRGBalony? I remember hearing about this the last time it was around, but never used it much myself. I don't use much computer stuff honest, facebook, aim, im, w/e. Just personal quirks, I suppose.

Second, I etc-love you guys. All of you. I know I hardly post, but this is a pretty awesome site, with some pretty awesome people. It's got some pretty awesome content too. The stuff Giovana/Yasha have done is quite impressive, and some of the guest articles are really neat reads as well. I keep meaning to write mine, and keep pushing that off. Month by month, year by year. But someday....

Those of you that I have met, I had tons of fun with up in NYC. That was a really neat trip, and I'm glad I had the chance to come along. To those of you I've never met/those of you who've never heard of me, I bet I'd have fun with you guys too, if I ever got the chance.

I don't know if I'll be able to make it on this date, but I'll give it a shot if you let me know how to acess IRGBalcony. I'm pretty busy though, between my part-time gig at georgetown hospital and studying for the placement tests I need to take my premed courses (college the second time is twice as much fun.... seriously ~.~)

But... here's to IRG, and the people who frequent it. Much love. Seriously. This is a fantastic site, with fantastic fans. And I'd like to give gio and yasha a huge thank you for keeping it up, whether I can only do that in this post, or I'm able to do it "in person" on the balcony. etc-love everyone, and I'm sorry I don't make myself post more. You're all really cool people, and I'd love to get to know most of you better if I ever had the chance.

Re: Next Month on the 9th of June...

IRGBalcony is the name we use for our AIM chat room.  To get in, you'll need an AIM account.  If you don't already have one, you should be able to sign up for one here; if the link doesn't work for some reason, you can go to www.aim.com and select "Get a Screen Name" from the AIM.com menu at top left.

Once you have an AIM account, you have two choices.  You can download the AIM client here, which installs AIM as a desktop application, or you can log on through Meebo, which keeps the AIM interface inside your browser and doesn't require the messy installation AIM does.  I suggest the second route, which is easier, cleaner, and less intrusive.

Finally, to get to IRGBalcony, you need to invite yourself to chat.  On Meebo this is very easy; just click the group chat icon on top of your buddy list and type "IRGBalcony" in the dialogue box.  On AIM it's a little trickier.  I think you have to right-click your own screen name, pick Invite To Chat, and then enter IRGBalcony as the room you want to "invite yourself" to, but I could be mistaken.

Hope this helps!  emot-smile  Looking forward to our nice big group chat/thanksgiving/bacchanal!

Happy IRG Day! poptart poptart poptart *pops champagne bottle over keyboard. cleans it up with tongue.*
Yay! I'm the first poster! How lucky that I live down under and get to beat the rest of the world. school-eng101

Especially for this special day, I have written an analytical essay. *shock horror* It's the first time I've bothered to. It's a special day indeed...

Here's the link: http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1935
It's called Priestess of the Perpetual Sacrifice and basically looks at Anthy's past, present, and future selves from the pov of sacrifice (both of herself, and her sacrificing of others).
Er why yes, I have been influenced by the book of Hebrews and ancient Jewish thought on cultic rituals. Tell no-one...

EDIT:
Since I've found out I'm going to have to work after all, I've stayed up late putting the finishing touches on my other holiday contribution, a post-anime fanfiction. It's Utena/Anthy but with a twist, and I'd like to encourage even non Utena and/or Anthy fans to give it a glance over. You may find it appeals to you. (of course you may not...)

Here's the link:http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?p … 35#p163635
It's called Duel Called Enmity.

See you all when I get home from work!

Also, is 2-4 the official meeting time for the aim chat? Or are we agreeing on something else? (And what is that in EST, if anyone happens to know?)

Go right ahead! This is a celebration of all things related to IRG and its greatness, and fanfic smut is most certainly one of them!

I'll log on AIM around 7 or 8 PM (EST). Thankfully, I don't have any finals the day after tomorrow, so I can stay up as late as I want!

It sounds like a good a time as any emot-smile  That'd be 10 PM to midnight Eastern Daylight Time (9-11 Central, 8-10 Mountain, 7-9 Pacific).  Really, though, I suggest we all just drop in when we have time rather than designate this the "official meeting time."

Re: Next Month on the 9th of June...

I thought I'd repost these helpful directions written by satyr about how to get into/start up an IRGBalcony chat. (they're in the chatomatic sticky on the IFD thread)

satyr wrote:
1. Install and run AIM.  (It's a free download at www.aim.com.)

2. Copy and paste the following into your browser (a program like Internet Explorer or Firefox):
aim:GoChat?RoomName=IRGBalcony

3. Depending on your browser settings, you may have to click a button confirming that you want to launch AIM.

4. If the room exists already, welcome!  If it doesn't exist, you've just created it, and you can wait for company.

I'm in there now. Or I will be when I finish making my arvo tea...

Oooh if you say so, than I must rectify my ignorance. emot-keke

Re: Next Month on the 9th of June...

/sigh satyr tells me the busy period for our SKU hol is likely to be my time at 10am tomorrow morning (which is no longer the hol for me). Thus I'm double-posting in this thread while it's still SKU-day in Oz to include the stuff I'm sure you'll all post on my tomorrow. emot-tongue

Firstly by final contribution, and yes, it's an amv. I can't say I'm surprised...
Here's the link:http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1937
It's called Wearing my Rolex (yep it's that song by Wiley) and it's a parody of the many messed-up SKU relationships. If you're a fan of fast-paced dance amvs or tongue-in-cheek sexual tension, check it out. If not, protect your eyes instead!

* * *
Secondly it was suggested by somebody wise that we all post our favourite links, so that we can re-discover the wonders of the board. So here goes, some of my fave links and what makes them great:

* ~I Wonder, I Wonder~: A guessing game courtesy of satyr where we answer certain questions from the pov of a SKU character and then guess wildly. I love writing answers, and I hate guessing heh.
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=966

* SKU Drabble Game: A prompting game to inspire drabbles on every conceivable SKU pairing/topic. Courtesy of OitL. Lately there's been a few drabble competitions, and they're even more inspiring (I find).
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1304&p=1

* Random Utena Questions? Possible Analysis and or Answers: Exactly what it sounds like. You and I get to ask all our random SKU questions (my latest was about Akio's hair bauble). Then wondrous fans come up with savy sounding answers, and we all feel better. Thanks SexingTouga!
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1435

* SKU Caption Contest: Courtesy of Maarika and now moderated by Ragnarok. I'm sure everyone already knows about it, but it's one of the highlights of my week, laughing at others' captions and trying to think up dirty ones of my own. What did I just say dirty?! I mean funny...
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=93&p=1

* All Purpose Fanfic Thread: In which Coco finds and lists most of the fanfic contributed to the forum. I love you for doing this, Coco. I really really do. etc-love
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1495
And within the General Section of that thread I particularly like "SKU fanfiction recommendations", "Utena Fanfic Gems", "UtenaxAnthy fanfiction", "Request Thread" and "Commissions". It's lovely to find excellent Utena fanfic when you're as addicted to fanfiction as I am, and as a writer there's quite a lot of incentive involved in getting a feel for what people want to read.

* Claim Your Utena-Kink: Courtesy of OitL. It's new, it's bold, and it asks us to list our meme requests and own up to/post memes we've written. I see this as a way to get more kink I want, (drool) and find out what other people might want to be kinked up. Win!
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1901&p=1

* THE Ultimate Good Utena AMV list: Courtesy of Anthiena. What can I say. I dig AMVs. And here I get to easily find and watch the ones that have touched other fans (I'm talking good touch, goooood touch).
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1276&p=1

* Have AMV ideas?: St0dad had the right idea in creating a thread where fans can post what they want to see done (or vidders can post what they plan to do). I've got quite a few ideas from this place!
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1085&p=1

* Free Pointless Flame Wars--Flames R Us: From RainbowRoseQueen. Okay I admit it. I like the release this thread has provided me with. Fake flames, horrible insults, creativity gone very wild...why not have a looksee yourself and flame someone...
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=787&p=1

* What does gender mean to you?: By Stormy. Fascinating reading, and some pretty revealing insights into each other. Really gets you thinking.
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1267&p=1

* (Utena2) Ohtori Academy: Created by KTK. In it's hey day this rp was awesome (and it's still pretty good when people post there). I think it has a lot of well-put-together content, and a solidly thought out concept pushing that. I've really enjoyed my interactions in it, and I think the other rp-ers did too.
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=1500&p=1

* Le SKU LiveJournal (and IRG) Icons: Created and contributed to vastly by Lady Nil. I'm in love with her work, and the work of many other talented artists. I really have a thing for icons (surprising as that may be to hear), especially funny or just plain gorgeous ones. These are drool-worthy. And perfect for use in IRG rps!
http://forums.ohtori.nu/viewtopic.php?id=453&p=1

Thanks to all the creators of my fave threads - I celebrate you, today. emot-keke You guys and girls have helped me keep my SKU addiction in check, so that I don't have to turn to non-metaphorical-crack. Woot!
