Oh my Christian Bale....

this is actually kind of upsetting. I know you're a great actor, but was this really that freaking serious?

Poor cinema tech, poor guy.

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

I guess I'm not up on my Christian Bale news! Setting the music aside, was this an actual freak-out, or was this something from a film? Sounds pretty authentic to me.

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

It was an authentic freak-out, I suppose while filming his new film...the cinema tech guy walked behind actress Bryce dallas howard ( he messed up shooting twice) and Christian Bale just started freaking out on him. They said the tirade lasted for about four minutes.

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

While it may not have been necessary to go on like that, I totally understand his dealio. He's an extremely serious actor [and seriously fucking tense because of it], and he's revived the Batman movie franchise, and he wants to do the same for the Terminator franchise. If I remember correctly, they're already behind schedule in shooting. I'd freak out too [though not quite so much]. I'll cut him slack until he does something really unwarranted.

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

There are probably better ways to handle the situation, but without full context, it does seem possible he had every right to get angry and frustrated.  Professionalism is never too much to ask for.  And, sometimes - because we're all human and all that - you just blow up when you're frustrated.  There may be better ways to handle things, but you don't always make it to a point where you can take that better route.

I hate to belabor the point, but I think the Mae Shi have the last word on the subject.

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

It's everywhere on the interwebs now. I even heard that Whoopi Goldberg defended Bale on the View. Like Daytripper said without the full context it's a tough call, but I'm just like amazed at all the f-bombs.

I dunno, I think he was being a bit of a douche. No need to take it out on some bloke who made a mistake.

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

Apparantly over here they broadcast his rant during the daytime but didn't manage to censor it properly.
Made more lulzy by the fact it was 'I'm going to kick your fucking ass' and it was on in the morning, when kids are watching.
Thanks, Christian. If nothing else, you made me giggle. emot-biggrin

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

He makes me giggle *~every day~*.

Us theatre kids are now all going to our director, "DO YOU WANT US TO TRASH YOUR LIGHTS?! D:<" every time he says a really bad joke.

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

I'll never be angry at Bale, and I think he was justified here. Like Lady N., I'm a theatre kid, and people just don't understand how many distractions there can be when you're trying to perform, or even just practice. Being on the set of a film must be 100 times worse, and I'm sure he's under a lot of pressure. I'd be lying if I said I've never flipped out like that, even if I was just having a fit once I was in the safety of my own home. Sure, most of us can hold our tongue, but the bottom line is that we can't walk in his shoes, and we don't know how long he was trying to grin and bear it.

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

Also, he apologized, which is all well and good, but I think the person who he really should apologize to is that poor DP.

Honestly, I think that both Christian and the DP were dumb, so they cancel each other out, so it's okay.

Re: Oh my Christian Bale....

The apology was sincere, so no wrong---like everyone has been saying...people get upset, I think it's cool that he completely owned up to how bad the rant was instead of trying to downplay it and the fact that he's cool with people making fun of it on the interweb.
