I don't have any video editing software for this summer, but when I start school, I'll try my hand at an SKU AMV to "Life 2: The Unhappy Ending" by Stars.  With Akio as the hero, Anthy as the lover, and Utena as the female solo.  It would focus on Akio and Anthy's plans and how Utena defies them.

The beginning would be the scene with Anthy and the swords in the car.  Then the second verse obviously lends itself to Dios's fall and Anthy's stabbing, the ending shifting to Utena's death and Anthy's escape


Scene one: Late at night interior, we find ourselves inside the car
Our hero has just gone too far, his lover bleeding in the back
He removes the Lucky from the pack, he knows now that he can't turn back

Cut to: The cherry lights in the rearview
He realizes that he's through
Whispers, "Darling let's have fun"
Hits the exit doing 91, drives until he's in the woods

The way I'm looking at it, "Home" refers to Anthy, the person she betrayed in the first place.  Major Tom is Utena.

I had a sort of series of AMVs in mind once:

1) "Revolution" - The Beatles. Featuring the student council and other duelists, and the dueling process. I'm kinda surprised that there aren't that many Utena AMVs to this song, really. 2) "World Shut Your Mouth" - Trouble22 version (Julien Cope cover). Utena in all her glory. http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/ … 858679425/.
3) "Front Row" - Alanis Morissette. Anthy POV on her brother. She can't stand him, yet still sort of puts him on a pedestal. And is really getting quite jaded by the whole thing. http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/ … BB00169F1A.
4) "Bells For Her" - Alanis Morissette. Utena and Anthy, particularly towards the end of the show. Things about Anthy are finally falling into place for Utena. The vid should probably end with the swords turning on her. http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/13619/.
5) "You Can't Always Get What You Want" - The Rolling Stones. I think that happened for a lot of the characters by the end of the show. And I think, whether it really is or not, this song sounds upbeat in a way, and I like a relatively happy ending. http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/6294/.

Don't feel bad if you've never heard of The Residents, it's actually what they're famous for. And now that I think about it, their song "Blue Rosebuds" might suit Miki and Kozue, in a sense.

"Grease Lightning" from the Grease soundtrack, featuring Akio's car and Touga's bike.

Chances are good it's already been suggested, but 'Hotel California' would be brilliant for Mikage and Ohtori.

Also 'Wrapped Around Your Finger' by the Police for Anthy and- well, just about anyone, really.

\Eh, I've always had three on my mind, just these three.

1)  Stand By Me by Ben E. King  - It would be with a variety characters but more of an ironic thing, since relationships in Utena seem to get twisted so often.  I can see Touga and Saionji, some Nanami, Utena dueling, particularly Utena waltzing with Anthy during the msuical interlude and Anthy stabbing her through in the last episode.  That would be the one I'd love to do, this AMV, if I could ever find the energy to get my clips loaded.

2)  Slap by Ludacris - It could even be the first minute or so, preferably the censored version due to consonance, "I know it's strange / But my brain's gone really insane . . . I feel like slappin' somebody today (slap slap!)"  It's just depressed enough for me to look at Saionji and think, "Well, you've done a lot of this to yourself, but I'll give you part of your slapping song."

3)  Addicted by Simple Plan - I've wanted to do this one since 2006 ot '07.  It's so Saionji, teenagerish, him when he's being whiny and self-entitled - his song to Anthy, who's with Utena.  "I'm a dick -- I'm addicted to you."  "I think you know that it's true / I'd run a thousand miles to get you / Do you think I deserve this? / I tried to make you happy; I did all that I could / Just to keep you, but you left anyway!"  And the cry of "heart breaker! ," man, I could really work with that.  For me, for that portion of his personality/growing portion of his life, there's no better song, and it amuses me.
