This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

Yeah I know all the duel themes are epic, but this is for the normal OST.
I have to say the one moment that always gets me in shock and awe is in episode 35 where Utena is laying on the grass then looks at Anthy and sees her pained form and then this godly piece of music plays: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6yLkp5ToBA
The moment is just so powerful that I always have to put it one repeat.
The only other time Utena's done that for me was when Overture starts playing in the final episode and made me cry manly tears.

Adolescence Apocalypse in its entirety.
Personal highlights:
- Opening Credits (Rose is Rain - Rose Egg Rebirth Record)
J.A. Seazer goodness.
- Utena finds the Rose Crest / Utena meets Anthy (The Rose Signet ~ Sky Garden's Bride)
Simply beautiful.
- Touga's story / Shiori Butterfly (Illusion ~ Malice's Pupa)
Severe goosebumps here, especially at the transition from piano to electronic at the Shiori butterfly scene. Just thinking about it gives me chills.
Adolescence Apocalypse is my favorite anime film period, and to me, the soundtrack is nothing short of perfection. The music is inseparable from the images for me, and vice versa.

My friend made a CD of all the music ever in Utena she liked it so well. Personally, I think the music makes a moment.

Don't forget the dance scene, even if the animation did add to the epicness. I still think Toki ni Ai wa is an epic song, especially in that scene.

Definitely. I especially like the part where it goes to the instrumental version when Utena is reflecting on what happened the next day in class.

The closing credits to the last episode. That bouncy scat take on the opening theme just makes me think "hell yeah, Anthy, you GO find Utena!"

Whenever this song comes on I always have to fight the urge to cry. Particularly in Juri's final duel when she has just dropped her rose.
"It'll be okay, Juri."
(The sky weeps.)
"Juri, it'll be okay."

This song affects me in a big way. I think this is probably one of the reasons why I like the series so much. My friend calls my "it series." I watch the series and unless I'm watching it with someone else I watch the opening credits every time just to hear the opening song. There's so much hope in the song and every time I hear it and look at the lyrics I find something to take away, just like the series.

Is there any way that I could find this music to download on my mp3? I love every single piece you guys have named.

There's the MP3 rotation in the Audiology section of ohtori.nu (that may have it or may not, depending on what Giovanna puts up), but also, this site is your friend. I love that website, not for the MP3's, but because it details where the music plays and... yeah.

I think, aside from the many moments in the movie made epic by the score alone, the one that gets me is the episode where Shiori is running to met Ruka by the fountain. And he tells her her heart is pounding just like a puppy's. He kisses Shiori knowing Juri is there. I love that musical theme. I beleive it's Temptation. It really just drives home the emotional core of that entire moment.

^ Oh I recall when Utena is playing basketball and sees Akio in the window, Temptation also plays and makes it seem so powerful with Utena gasping out "Ahhh Akio..." That piece if music wasn't played enough!

I have two soundtrack mp3 albums I can send you online, one being from the movie, and one being one of the series soundtrack. If not, then I ordered mine off of ebay.
What made Utena epic? Miiiisssing Link. I think the entire ending episode was outstanding, and Missing Link has gone down as of my epic songs on my playlist, right next to Lux Auxterna and the Lord of the Rings soundtracks.

Necro-ed! to talk about those non-Duel music /songs without starting another thread.
I don't know if it's been brought up here before, but has anybody else noticed how the wonder-filled -> triumphant Baiser (plays after the final duel up to Anthy about to walk out in Ep39) is actually a changed version of the heavily melancholic Shi no Aphrodite?
And Dawn's Scat, the classic song played near the ending of Nanami's Egg Ep, actually seems much more fitting for a Mikage/Tokiko/Mamiya moment than in there - it's about time standing still out of people's attachment to an otherwise fleeting moment after all.
