This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
I mentioned to my mother that we hadn't vacationed in so long, and Key West is looking mighty fine in the summer time. There's still no saying either way though, because my mother is quite overbearing, and even if I am able to make it, I don't know how many activities I would be allowed to partake in. Leaving her 16 year old daughter alone with a handful of adults I met on a forum dedicated to an anime all about incest, homoerotica, and repressed sexual desires with minors is a bit out of her comfort zone.

Shall I write you a note?
I do hope you will be able to make it, though I expect to see you a bit sooner.

Maybe your mom would like us. We are a bit too much into SKU, but every of us is the most awesome person in the whole world, and of course a very intelligent bastard

I'm back already, and... yeah. If I weren't already going to New York, I would do this in a heartbeat, but I don't know if I'll be able to afford both. I'll see what I can pull off, but I can't keep my hopes up about this...

NECRO!
We're at the six month mark, so I thought now would be a good time. (If it's not, feel free not to respond and let it sink back down until, like June, or something.)
Soooooo.....
Who's in? Who's out? Who still has no fucking clue?

Bit far for me yet. Maybe next year?

Alright. I've been thinking about this, and worrying about it, quite a lot. I'm going to be short and sweet. I can't do RoseCon. Not in SF, not in KW, not anywhere. I can't afford it even under ideal conditions, and I just don't have the time for organizing one...you'll notice I practically fell off the forum, and that was not something I want. I miss you guys, I loved RoseCon, and I hate cancelling on you after edging it lower and lower. But...I just don't have the resources here, and as much as I love you guys, school and the means to pay for it have to come first for me.
I'm really sorry. I feel like an asshole times a hundred. Sorry.

Aww, don't feel bad, Gio! Just because RoseCon got called off is no reason for you to feel bad about it. You have obligations that must be attended to, and we understand your precarious position.
Besides, RoseCon without you is like SKU without Poptarts. Or an orgasm without foreplay. Or something like that.

It's okay, Gio. [hugs] To be honest, I was worrying myself about coming because I really wanted to, but it seemed less and less feasible in a lot of ways. I think I'll go to Japan instead and splurge on dodgy SKU doujinshi. ...and say it's for school, because I am supposed to be learning Japanese right this minute. Er.

Considering that I'll be on the west coast -hopefully- by the time RoseCon rolls around, it's just not feasible for me. But if anyone wants to come visit me and get tattoed up and be part of my portfolio, they're more than welcome.

With having to buy a new car last week and not yet finding a full-time job, Paradox and I were probably out anyway. Plus...I really didn't want to go to Florida in August. As soon as the location changed, my interest dropped quite a bit, and while I wanted to meet everyone, I couldn't muster enough enthusiasm to work through the financial issues to be able to go.

I'll take you up on that offer.
I think I'd want this as a tat:
Geeky, but not OBVIOUSLY so.

Don't worry Gio. No one is mad at you and you are totally not an asshole. Stuff happens, and you're being reasonable and realistic and taking care of what you need to. We all still love you tons.

No need to feel guilty. As you see, some people, without whom RoseCon wouldn't be a good one, would have problems with coming. And without you, I doubt we'd think about such an idea. We still love you, as much as you do Akio

Quoted for truth. We all love you Gio! And Rosecon wouldn't be Rosecon without you and Yasha. There's just no way it would be the same.

Do you do tattoos? O_O

Henna tattoos, and I'm branching into temporary body art. I'm seriously considering an apprenticeship as a tattoo artist tho.

You know what? Life happens, and it's okay. Not everything is within our control.
There's always next year...and the year after that....and the year after that....ad infinitum.

Aw! :-( Wait--I don't have anything against henna and I'd love to have henna done, because I do genuinely think it's absolutely beautiful. But I do wish you did permanent stuff too. Probably all tattoo fans have wistful dreams of befriending a tattoo artist.
Cuz fer serious

As an Utena fan, how could you not want to be a part of putting that allover someone's back?
:-) :-D :-)
But hey, I've always wanted to visit the west coast...if you never do apprentice as a tattoo artist, wanna take a jab (haha) at it? ;-)

Aw how sad
Oh well I guess maybe next year... *looks excitedly toward next year*

Next year would be much better indeed. I did not foresee my legal problems as I will likely be tangled up in court at that time... ;_;
....too bad.... but RoseCon without you would just not be Rosecon at all.

Well it'll be messy, but nope, it won't be trouble. I'll be glad when it's over... it's over my daughter, so...
