This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Inspired by the SKU Avatar thread in the SKU forum, and not having any SKU avatars other than my current one (yet), I decided to open up a thread for us to post our avatars that we use (have used/will use) on other forums!
I'll start with my progression of avatars that I've used on the Anime on DVD forums...
First, my Yoshitoshi ABe set (not chronological, I know, but this the the order that I used them in):
Then for the Christmas holiday I used this adorable one from Figure 17:
Rang in the new year with some cuteness from Strawberry Marshmallow:
For February, some Sugar sweets:
And currently, my newest anime crush Ai Tanabe from Planetes:

Ohhh, I love making avatars. I've used all of these at least once, I think. I always rotate.
Yup.. I use myself as the base a lot of the time. Or photos that I take, like my teddy bear Edward or the cake I made ;

I'm honestly plain sick with the first, but love the second one. <3

Dats my current AIM icon! *drool*
this is the COBRD-Ind icon from DA (click on my website button under my name and look at our coolness!)

Would you believe that my current avatar is the only one I have ever had anywhere? I feel like I'm missing out or something.
Offline
your not, the only avatars i have are the ones i use...the gack one i had to e-mail to a friend my BF made them with me...
Offline
No, I meant this is the only time I've ever made myself an avatar-- specifically for this forum. Weird...

The avatar that I'm using for this forum wasn't even made by me Is that like...against some rules? I don't know, I'm giving him/her credit now! I don't know their name [or even their gender], but they made a hell of a pretty Shiori icon. I did however change the colors on it, so I can almost say I did it. Almsot. I edited it! Jeez.
Uh, the only icons I've ever made that didn't totally suck were SCSC icons. Even then they were nothing special.
I have never mastered moving icons probably never will. Damn you Tamago, with yer m@d skillz y0////.

dollface, I'm not sure if there is a rule as such on if your avatar was made by you or not, I guess as long as you are not using an avatar that belongs to someone else in this forum without their permission, its ok I think.

I posted with the intent of showing avatars we edited/created ourselves (that aren't SKU-related... that's what the original thread in the SKU forum is for), but if you haven't, you're free to post ones you like, too.
And Tamago (I'm derailing my own thread here ), you must explain to me this enigma that is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya! The hype on this title in the US has been huge (understatement) and the mother of all Limited Editions is being released with volume 1 of the DVD here soon, which means the licensor clearly knows about the hype. Create another thread for it if you want to, but can you explain it without spoiling? I feel like I'm missing something here. What's in it for SKU fans such as we? (Also, is that girl with the antennae-hair from Haruhi too? If not, where is she from?)
sheesh @ my editfest... my grammar skills are not so good right after I wake up, apparently.

Imaginary Bad Bug, I seen 4 diiferent episodes of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya on Youtube (I plan on hiring it when they release the US DVD versions) and its very quirky indeed, its not for everyone but I recommend you see at least a couple of episodes (except for episode one, that one sucked) and for some reason they chosen to scramble the order of the episodes to make it more confusing.
Well anyway, Haruhi is in a sense, GOD and she can affect the universe but she is the only one who is unaware of this fact, she hates boring people and wants to set up a club based on weird and wonderful people. Funny but very screwy as well. Its worth trying out a few episodes at least.

That girl is from another anime called School Rumble. It's damn funny, but not my cup of tea. I can tell you that I hate THAT girl because she's so idiotic.

The girl you mentioned was Tenma, yes she is somewhat dim and she looks young for her age, more so due to the fact her younger sister Yakumo who is 20 months younger but looks and acts more like the older sister than Tenma. She even cooks for her older sister as Tenma sucks at cooking.
The main premise in this show is all the various love/hate relationships.

Wow.. thanks for the info Tamago and Tenjou_sailorsaturn. It looks like something worth investigating more, since I like character-driven and slice-of-life shows anyway. I also see that Funimation apparently has it for the US, so it'll be on DVD here eventually...
Also, Kaori Shimizu and Yui Horie? More points.

A couple more avatars I've edited since my first post in this thread for April and May that I use(d) AnimeOnDVD:
First up is Rico from Gunslinger Girl. She's my favorite of the bunch, and this is the first avatar I've really embellished, by giving it a border.
And just today I edited this one of Mikiko Oguro from Animation Runner Kuromi. If I ever start an anime studio, she's my first hire.

Back in the days when forum avatars were as small as AIM buddy icons, I made these for free use:

Here's some of the personal ones I've made over the years:

I made this one using a scene from the X Series of Megaman games.

RhythmFusion, which game did that come from? And is that Zero doing the backstabbing? I totally approve of this avi icon!

It's from one of the ending scenes in Megaman X5, when Sigma tries (for the fifth time) to kill X and Zero by shooting a laser through them.
