This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

Whee, time for more! About 90 minutes of my free time, just for IRG! Here's what I came up with in this, only my 3rd Wakaba ever, and 2nd CG ever... I'm starting to like this drawing stuff.
Happy Wakaba, in Full Color and with Background!

Next goal... figure out how to draw hands (note the convenient cheat used in the form of the "hands-behind-back" pose). I wanted to do the "hand-behind-head" pose, but couldn't get the arm placement to proportion ratio right.
My reference image from where else but EM's gallery.
I think it's much better than your last one. You should check out this site, it has many good tutorials. I think it's better to start with proportions and basic stuff. http://www.polykarbon.com/tutorials/index.htm There are also a few for drawing hands, but I'll warn you, it'll take forever to learn how to draw those things properly. I wish I was better at drawing them too.

Thanks for the link... I've already bookmarked it and will check it out the next chance I get. Considering I've never had a formal figure drawing class (I did take 'regular' drawing for two semesters), I probably take a different approach to drawing people than those who have.
I've noticed a holdover from my comic drawing days in high school (10+ years ago ) is that believe it or not, I start with the eyes. First I draw the face, then the head and hair, then the neck, and I go down from there. In that respect, I guess you could say that the face dictates the final product for me.
Thanks again for the feedback and encouragement! You are right that it gets easier as you go on... I already found that with this one I was much more focused on detail; I can only wonder what thought processes I'll go through 4 or 5 drawings from now.

Hands are a big no, no. But I can draw wicked paws. Does that mean I'll turn the whole SKU cast into catgirls & catboys? Maaaaybe...
*imagines chibi Juri and Saionji having a cat fight* So cute. X3
Edit:

Saionji doesn't stand a chance! Juri is like a lioness compared to Saionji who just a drownable kitty-cat.
Love da Artwork BTW!

I LOVE drawing hands. Especially Utena hands. Well, almost as much as I love Yoshiyuki Sadamoto hands. Or Joe Mad hands.
Here are some hands!

If Saionji's Shere Khan, then Juri should be Bagheera.

That is way too cute. Is Juri's yarn purple?

Tamago, these just prove that Saionji makes a cute catboy.

Yeah. Actually, I was trying to make a really bad joke by saying that 'Shiori' is that ragged ball of yarn, while Saionji is holding a red ball of yarn... n_n;

BWAHAHAHAHA.
Apparently there are very direct references to SKU in Pokemon, I've even heard there's an episode meant entirely as reference, but I don't know Pokemon to save my life and know no one else familiar enough with the show and SKU to confirm or deny this. It would definitely be amusing to see SKU in the hands of a show so thoroughly meant for children, as opposed to tweens and up.

I wish I could find a better screencap from that episode but I haven't been able to yet.

I see that I am not the only one in here who has become aware of Pokemon's more 'adult' undertones.

Pokemopolis is great fun. Especially the fanart by Jax, who's got to be one of my all-time favorite artists. He draws them so yummy.
