I play cello! i am glad to see another musician on the forum. I just started playing cello just over a year and a half ago. By the way, that music looks kind of hard for a beginner. Take it easy now. I will show you some of my cello music when I finish getting my new apartment setup in a couple of days. My music is easier read. Keep at it. Go slow you will be far ahead in no time at all.

Where did you get that score, btw? Ima try that too hehe

yusaku XD I play music the last 24 years, this music is hardly anything I haven't seen before, and I'm already playing it on guitar with ease
these are the marcia funebre I used to play with my band (not guitar but Althorn, which is a brass horn also called baritone, the sheet on the left says tenor saxophone only because, be all these years in the band I used to play the tenor saxo parts instead of baritone ones to the point I was calling my self x-sax (in the x-men fashion) because I was a mutant in a sense that I was a baritone playing tenor saxo parts :PPPPP most of the times there are little to no differences in the parts but some times the tenor ones are way higher than baritone ones, because of that I had very good high notes while my low ones sucked hahahaha)
Since I was in a marching band the hard part of playing those is that we have to do it while walking
http://youtu.be/lixA8TGTnzo
in this video is the song on the left performed by one of the best marching band in my country (my own is like 1/100 in size of this titan ahahhaa) but we pretty much do the same thing

Karuka I am impressed! I am glad that you still got your skills. You might want to consider teaching saxophone. I lot of kids could use music skills to get them a college scholarship. I would like to hear you play something on the guitar sometime. I will let you hear one of my cello pieces.

lol I think I was kind of misunderstood I don't play the saxophone xD I play the parts of the saxophone with this:
most of the times my maestro would handwrite a mix of different parts of instruments that the band didn't have just for me to play them I liked that very much. Sadly I have no skills for teaching, and I can't play in the band anymore because of my illness. That's why I started guitar now so I can keep in touch with music that I love so much.
here 2 song we played with the band in two different concerts (we have those once a year)

and this embarrassing one a month until I started lessons hahahahah, I only tried that song 2 times and I was trying to remember it so it is out of rhythm

Good videos! I am a little camera shy but I will just have to aim the camera towards my hands. I am practicing a song from Please Save My Earth. The song really pushes me towards the edge of my playing ability, but I do believe it is still playable. I should complete the video by friday morning. I will have an audio clip by thursday. I may have to just go with the jazz standard "autumn leaves" just because my instructor already told me how to play it. Thanks for the clips I will get my audio clip in a day or two. I want to use Cubase, but Audigy is easy to use.
By the way I cannot play this yet but it one of the songs I want to play. The cello is mostly a bass or tenor clef instrument. The cello can play all the treble clef notes, but I have not learned to play the higher notes yet. I was thinking of dropping the melody line down an octave or two to make the song easier to play. I can get to the "C" midway on the treble clef. Yet, I kind do not want to change the character of the song what do you think? Should I drop the song down to make it playable or just wait until I can play it as written?

OH MY!!
I would LOVE to hear it in a low sexy tone! (I love lower tones )
dropping an octave or two is not a problem for me personally since you still play the same melody
Offline
I'm sure it would sound great in a lower register! It looks like you'd have to drop it two octaves to get everything below a high C. If you're afraid that might be too low, you could try transposing it to the key of G, which might let you drop it one and a half octaves instead of two, but that would take some work. Either way, I'd love to hear it. Just about any musical instrument sounds best when it's playing in the middle of its range.

I am in the process of transposing the sound down a couple of octaves. I am using Finale Songwriter music notation software I just purchased. I should be down transcribing by tomorrow. The music file will be playable with the Finale Notepad free download here:
http://www.finalemusic.com/products/finale-notepad/
I am working also from a piano version I found here:

I got a version done of the song and it is not perfect. I had a little trouble with the editor because I tried to move a note at the end after I had written the song. I could not move the note for some reason. I am attaching Hikarisasu Niwa's Sunlit Garden transcription. Of course, I did the easy work of transcribing down two octaves. I now have a much better appreciation of the range of piano.
I see I cannot directly attach the mp3. I will just have to make a scan or youtube video later then. I got to go to get ready for work now. I just wanted to give you guys an update.

My file is 23 megabytes and the site will only accept 15MB files. I will have to look elsewhere. Got any other sites? I am willing to pay if necessary.

Got it done. You the link is below. I only got the melody line in the bass. I will have to add some treble clef notes to harmonize with the melody sometime later. Maybe I can get to harmonizing next month. I really need help in the music theory department. It was not perfect, but not to bad for a first time. I am listed as Alias Adrian on soundcloud.com. I plan on recording Autumn leaves next. I am using Cubase 7 Elements for the first time. It is going to take some work to get accustomed to the software. Anyway here is the link below.

I just met with my instructor and he added some slurs to smooth out the song. I am going to be starting up Cubase and working with the metronome to get the time better. I should be uploading Sunday night after my lesson or Monday afternoon. Thanks for you all your enthusiasm. It is very encouraging! My instructor is glad I am doing this.
Offline
I will be posting Wednesday instead. I got some time issues to smooth out and a high position shift to a high B and C in the later part of the song. I can play through it now, but the timing is off. I think I can smooth it out and get some better tone out of my cello. The high position is a problem and you may have to tolerate hearing a few wrong notes in the song. Progress not perfection.

Just listened to the first track, and it sounds lovely. You absolutely need to continue doing this.
