This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

Maybe everyone can go dressed as a puppet master, without noticing the strings coming from their own limbs, until the entire room is just a huge tangled mess.

I would really like to see Touga go dressed as Tsuwabuki. He could totally mess with Nanami all night. Of course, no one would actually think he was Tsuwabuki, but as he fawns and preens over Nanami (driving her mental of course) he would be preparing his master stroke. When she is about to throw herself at him, he could totally say... "oh, Nanami-sama, thank you, but I am sure your brother would not approve"
You know what else might be fun? Seeing Saionji loosen up just a little and come in a 70's disco outfit, like Freddie Mercury or one of the Bee-Gees
If someone is going to show up in a tragically slutty outfit, I think it would be Miki. Couldn't you just see him in slit leg leather skirt and fishnets...some kind of ridiculous see-through raver top, and a make-up job that would make Robert Smith flinch?
Okay, maybe that one is just me...
Moving along.
Of course, inspired by a couple other posts in the thread, the absolute winner for me would be seeing Anthy and Utena showing up as Gomez and Morticia Addams.
Because it would be hot, thats why.

I like the idea

And I'm sure Anthy's strings would conveniently appear in Nanami's feet way

Juri would make an awesome Integra Hellsing. Maybe I just like women in suits though.
Utena and Anthy should go as Napoleon Bonaparte and Josephine (I love the pic in the EM gallery!)
Chu-chu should show up in a giant mecha.

OH MY GOD, that fanart you're referring to is AMAZING. Utena and Anthy must go as Napoleon and Josephine, and not just because costuming as other people/characters "gets me going." Okay, MAYBE just because of that.
I can see Chuchu in a tiny little Eva unit that needs to be plugged into the wall. And he keeps trying to assault Saionji with his mini progressive knife, but the cord is too short to reach him!

He would, too! He never liked Saionji...

Wouldn't Kanae be the best choice for something like that?
I'll post later if I actually get any ideas for other characters. This would be a fun discussion to have with my husband (also an Utena fan, but not a poster here yet), so I'll do that then post our thoughts.

I spent most of the series thinking Integra was a dude. A hot dude.

....that's so adorable. Especially since Saionji would regard him with pure, unrelenting annoyance the entire night. It's no wonder Saionji doesn't like Chu-chu though, that animal gets more love and affection from the woman he loves than he does.

I was luckily informed of the confusion beforehand, so I got it (and then read the manga, in which she's drawn a lot more feminine). However, when my flatmate cosplayed as her, she too got confused as a guy. I stumbled across a picture of us labeled "Witch Hunter Robin and some priest dude."
I was amused.
And to get back OT, how about Touga and Saionji as Oscar Wilde characters?

Yes I can see how easy it is for anyone to mistake Integra for a dude!
DUDE!

Let's have ChuuChuu as Zim. Muhahahahaha
....and then have Kozue as Demona from Gargoyles. So fitting to me....
Have Utena do the Harlequin bit, only have half of it be 'female' and the other 'male'.
...or have her dress as Oscar of Rose of Versailles.

You shut up.
She doesn't look like that in the anime.
As for Oscar Wilde...which characters? Shouldn't Akio be Dorian Gray? In an attic somewhere is a picture of Akio looking more and more like he did in the movie.

I can see Akio and Anthy doing one of those cheesy couple outfits like Adam and Eve with those strategically placed fig leaves. Scratch that, no leaves. I always kind of had the whole original sin thing in my head when I think of those two but maybe I'm just a little crazy.

The woman twice punished for the sins of both? Hell yeah.

OH SHIT. How could I forget??? Saionji's going to be a Klingon. It's true. You know it's true. You especially know it's true if you've seen the episode where Riker uses the power of the Q to make a Klingon woman for Worf.
...no? No TNG fans huh? I know, I know. One does not simply walk into Mordor or attempt to join different fandoms.

My bad!
It is true that the adult Integra lends herself to being mistaken for a bishy longhaired male but in the Hellsing anime flashbacks, you do get to see Integra as a 13yo girl and there's no mistaking her for anything but a girl.
Oddly enough, she reminds me of Kaolla Su would look if she were a busty girl with glasses.
oOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
I know what would make for a great Halloween party theme! Get everyone to eat some of Anthy's special curry and let the hijinks begin!

Saionji is most certainly a Klingon! He's angry and he can't express his feelings. Don't think Work ever had an exchange diary though.
Love Star Trek so you are not alone there. My brother and I could recite Wrath of Khan in entirety when I was 12. Voyager is my favorite series though. And I like Worf with Dax much more than Worf with Deanna. Deanna+Riker=Imzadi<3
Also obsessed with LOTR too. My favorite book of all time.

You don't think there are TNG fans here? Some fandoms have synergy, and Star Trek and anime have a moderate amount. There is nothing quite like a Star Trek convention, except an anime convention.
By the way -- one of Jonathan Frakes's worst performances ever, and that's saying quite a bit ;) Yet, somehow, a great episode.
And yes, Saionji is totally a Klingon.

I like Star Trek fine, but my parents were Trekkies. And there was the whole "teenage rebellion" thing to deal with a few years back.

Hmm.. Saionji as Oscar the Grouch maybe? I'm not sure if that lives up to 'Big Green Monster', though..
I was re-reading Major Barbara, and thinking Akio might be Undershaft? xD;; 'The Devil' so to speak. Utena as Barbara? Or Cusins?

Utena: Joan of Arc
Anthy: Utena (not to creative, is she...)
Miki: Beethoven or Einstein
Juri: A sexy leprechaun ( I wanna see that sooo bad!)
Touga: Adonis (come on... Touga in a toga... you know he'd totally do it!)
Saionji: Sailor Neptune/Pluto (Because he lost a bet to Touga)
Akio: Count Dracula (BECAUSE HE EATS PEOPLE!)
Nanami: Sailor V! (Not Venus... V!)
Shiori: Lolita Alice (as in Alice & Wonderland)
Tsuwabuki: Artemis (from Sailor Moon)
Wakaba: Sailor Jupiter
Kanae Ohtori: A bride (which she'll never be... T_T)
Kozue: Sailor Mercury
Chu-Chu: Mokona (the CLAMP mascot)

Hay, what about Utena and Anthy going as Westley and Buttercup from The Princess Bride?

'Worst performance' suggests there are good ones. (Riker isn't my favorite character by a long shot. He's Touga without the skill or sex appeal. Picard, however, is not Akio. I love Picard in a different way. ) As for the episode, well it's a Q episode, and all Q episodes are by law great episodes. At least in TNG anyway. Q just isn't Q without the strangely homosexual banter with Picard.
Any half-decent ST convention held at Ohtori Academy (lol nerdgasm) would have Saionji as a Klingon and Akio as a Romulan. It also so happens that Akio and Saionji are my favorite SKU characters and Klingons and Romulans are my favorite ST races. Coincidence, or Giovanna being predictable?

Big green monster: Cthulhu!!! (Saionji = tentacle demon )

Seconded like whoah. Mostly because of the possibility of Nanami shouting 'INCONCEIVABLE'.

I think that Akio would be Eros. Actually... I think that Touga, Akio, Saionji, Ruka, and an unwilling Miki would all go in togas! Touga would be Adonis, Akio would be Eros, Saionji would be Apollo, Ruka would be Pluto, & Miki would be Mercury... Aww... Miki in a toga... *squeal*

Naah... Hannibal isn't sexy enough! If Akio was gonna be a murderer he'd be Norman Bates (Hitchcock version.)
Is it wrong for me to think that Hitchcock's Norman Bates was a studmuffin? (Not including when he was in the whole drag thing...)
