This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
I wonder if the yuri was focus on UtenaxNanami..
Who would be more dominant?
Who would clean the house? Will they share responsibilities?
Personally, I can't see Nanami washing clothes..
If Utena was more dominant, I think Nanami would go all 'Touga-love' on her, they'd have occasional fights of how dense Utena is and how hard headed Nanami is.. lol
If Nanami was more dominant, I think Utena would be pissed off all the time with her ordering and stuff..
(Though, I can't see Utena acting like a bodyguard for Nanami)

Perhaps she seduced him, possibly at quite a young age, like when he was a student at Tsuwabuki's age? Perhaps her role is more than what is hinted at? Maybe Anthy was trying to protect her brother from her and all hell broke loose causing the swords of hate and all that? Maybe Mrs. Ohtori is more than just a foil for Akio's lust?
Uhh...Remember Akio, the supernatural being who doesn't get any older, throughout the decades between the fire at Nemuro Memorial Hall and the modern day Ohtori? As far as we know, Akio has never been a boy of Tsuwabuki's age. As Dios, his apparent age seemed fluid, depending on who was watching him and as the Chairman, he's always been the "Daddy Long Legs".
And while Akio plays the underdog with Mrs. Ohtori, it's quite obvious who is dominating that whole scene. Mrs. Ohtori's "threats" are thin air and they both know it. Theyr'e just an excuse to get her laid.
I would guess that in a UtenaXNanami pairing, nanami would just slap Anthy around to her her to do the laundry.
I wonder what Utena would have to say in that?
Now I'm also feeling curious of in what conditions would Nanami become infatuated with Utena...

I'm so drawing a NanamixUtena picture...
I remember on the fanart section a while back, someone made a fancomic about if Nanami won a duel with Utena and became the current victor. I thought it was a pretty accurate idea. Nanami was all like "WTF ARE YOU DOING!?" and Anthy was all "I'm giving you a bath! " and Utena would show up every now and then to make sure Nanami wasn't beating on Anthy.

Somethin' else that would be cool to see, not sure if it's been mentioned yet or not, Saionji when he wins his first duel.

Personally? Moar Touga/Kozue plox.
*ahem*
I mean, I would like to delve further into the Touga/Kozue "relationship", and more how Miki fits into this form of manipulation.

Forget deleted scenes, I want to see the deleted commentary track where Ikuhara cackles evilly, reveals that all the symbolism was just a gimmick to keep us guessing, and he really only made Utena as a tribute to his love for biker shorts.
Er, but as for deleted scenes, I just really want to know who won Anthy before Utena showed up (besides Saionji) and how they interacted with her. Especially her "engagement" to Juri, because Juri/Anthy is my secret crack pairing >.>

I don't think Jury would feel anything for Anthy as she is too busy looking at Shiori..
In the series, I started to believe it does have Yuri with this statement from Utena:
Anyway, Nanami wouldn't slap Anthy, she'd asked someone else to do it for her so she at least comes clean.
Also, I think NanamixUtena woud be like RanmaxAkane, right?

Nanami + Utena = Yuki + Shuichi, only hotter.
I love yaoi and all, but our beloved blonde bombshell has more testosterone than the entire cast of Gravitation put together.

But it doesn't seem she gets older either. If he has been the chairman that long wouldn't she have noticed something strange unless she somehow was involved too? The school is named Ohtori Academy after all and the family was named Ohtori before Akio took on that name. Akio was once Dios until he fell. Perhaps he fell because his sister failed to protect him and the reason she is the "witch" has more to do with her interfering in adult business where as "princesses" stay out of such things and are concerned with childlike matters instead.
Excuse my rambling but I just think there is more to this family than meets the eye.

Who says he has been the chairman for long? From the dialogues we can deduce that Akio only became the acting chairman after he got engaged to Kanae and the real chairman became ill. All these are recent events. Before that Akio's influence has been subtler kind, although he's undoubtedly had various positions of power, before. Maybe he's even been a chairman in the past, but not in his current identity.
In any case, there is nothing to indicate that Mrs. Ohtori would possess any supernatural origin, herself. She certainly doesn't appear anywhere in the flashbacks of the Nemuro Memorial Hall. Also remember that nowhere in those flashbacks Akio is referred to by name.

...
I'm sorry, but I don't entirely see what you mean here. The fall of Dios was caused, as far as we can tell, from what happened to Anthy when she tried to protect him from dying to defend ungrateful people. I don't see how that relates to Mrs. Ohtori.
Excuse my rambling but I just think there is more to this family than meets the eye.
There certainly is in Alan Harnum's excellent but permanently unfinished fanfic Jaquemart, but in the series proper, the Ohtori family isn't considered important enough to get more than few minutes of screentime and almost no exposition, whatsoever. Everything in the series, itself indicates that they're just Akio's pawns, existing only to offer a suitable reason why a very young-looking man without any kind of deductible past or connections would be in charge of a esteemed private school. Plus it gives him an excuse of not bothering with the actual duties of the position - he's just the acting chairman, after all and can leave all the routine stuff to the more experienced staff members.

Y'know, there's not nearly enough Wakaba in the series? I wouldn't have minded some extra Wakaba/Saionji stuff, despite the fact it would just irritate me watching it.
And for some strange reason I'd like a good solid Saionji/Shiori scene. Venting, complaining, confusion, and more venting... cut to: Touga and Juri, fluctuating between sighs of relief and nagging pangs of missing I wonder who.
The latter kinda naturally builds towards eventual reunited of all four, sweet (and suspect) looks of recognition and hot makeup sex doesn't it? Selah.

(Bump!)
1. First of all I want to see how and when Akio manipulated Kozue in episode twenty-six. My guess is that he basically promised her Miki's undivided attention if she did whatever he said. Would she be suspicious about his offer?
2. I would have rather seen Ruka lured into Akio's Chevrolet than Shiori.
3. I want to see how in the world Kanae became catatonic.
4. What happened to Wakaba between her Black Rose duel and her return home? It's implied that she remembered the event.
5. This isn't really a missing scene so much as a hypothetical extra one. I would have died of happiness if it was implied that Nanami and Mitsuru were married about twenty years in the future.

Funny I caught this topic, because I was thinking of this just the other day.
It's a really simple thing, but I would have loved to see Utena's first reaction to Anthy letting down her hair. I mean, I for sure never expected it to be as long as it is, and I'm sure neither did Utena. It would have been nice if they'd had a "Himemiya... your hair... it's so beautiful! " scene of some kind.
Oh, and MUCH more screentime for poor Saionji! And by that I mean screentime that isn't meant as just comedic relief. More exploring of his character, kthx.

At the final episode, when we see all the characters doing their life, we see the nemurial memorial hall. But I would like to know what the hell happened to Mikage, it would help to understand what really happened to Utena.
Bonus points if we see him and Ruka (in the case he's not really dead) in the real world. Not necessary facing each other, as they don't know about their existence, but coinciding somewhere.

I think this is the very reason why they didn't show Mikage.

I would have loved to see the conversation in the movie in which Anthy convinces Utena to model naked.
That's about the only thing I can think of that doesn't have that much reasonable justification behind it

I'll bet that would be one of those watching a train wreck moments. I can only imagine something dreadful, but I really would like to see it just to know.
Hypothetical deleted scene on my wish list?
The Shadow Girls blowing a bunch of balloons. Maybe even doing a skit about the merits of blowing them by hand verses using an air canister. (The balloons are the only selection of the random student council imagery sets that just doesn't quite explain itself well to my brain. Seeing the Shadow Girls take responsibility for them would make me feel better .)

Naughty But that's a good point, actually! I'd like to see that too. Except that then balloons would be a recurring symbol, and we might be obliged to revisit them... man, symbolism is hard to do right!
I want to see a scene through the lens of Tsuwabuki's camcorder where he's set it up to record him training horses and kangaroos to attack Nanami. In my imagination, Nanami is a straw dummy like the Shadow Girls at the end of the movie.

Obviously, budget cuts forced the Seitokai to rent out space on their balcony to other clubs, including the baseball club, monorail group, and the furniture collectors' club.

I would watch a whole series of Wakaba & Saionji living together in Wakaba's dorm. It would be like a gender-swapped I Love Lucy.

All I want to see is Anthy and Utena reunite. I would die happy if Ikuhara ever made an OVA about their tea meeting

1.) Well she would do anything for Miki. Also I guess she wanted a little taste of the power she could have over someone.
2.) Ruka is already tainted. Shiori, as Juri said, is "innocently cruel." Even Shiori herself admits that she looked pathetic trying to win Juri's attention. Unlike Kozue, Shiori is painfully naive.
3.) It's kinda obvious she was already having a mental breakdown. She had some hardcore feelings since the Black Rose Arc. She knows that Akio will never really belong to her so she went crazy.
4.) Every one of the Black Rose duelists remembers their duel. In the part where Utena tears off her rose, she cried because she didn't know how much Utena cared about her as a friend. She decides to give up on expressing hate since it's not worth it.
5.) It's implied that Nanami might have something going on with Saionji actually O_o

I would watch the FUCK out of this.
DefineMask, while Wakaba is the woman Saionji wants, I totally feel like Nanami is the one he deserves. Love that pairing because they'd be like a feisty Italian couple. Dishes flying, anger fucking, seeming absolute irritation with everything the other does, and totally inseparable. I always took Saionji and Nanami to have kind of a sibling-like relationship on the show, which is to say an actual realistic, healthy one. Saionji would never let a woman beat on him like Nanami does. But a sister? That's different.
Aside from the usual 'MORE EVERY CHARACTER I LIKE' in the broadest sense of the word, I'd love to have seen scenes where Akio is alone. There's a very good reason that's avoided and it would probably detract to have it, but in my head, if Akio is not in transit somewhere or communicating with someone, he's actually just staring at walls. It would be very eerie/kind of sad to see, that while everyone else hems and haws over the question of 'who I am' and seeks solitude to contemplate it, he knows better than to ask, because the answer would ruin him. That or you'd end up with some American Psycho level shallow bullshit where the question of identity is avoided by going berserk over the fine details of his morning routine.
