I can't find our conversations about it here re Utena and Dario Argento's Mothers trilogy, which is sad, but someone just told me Ikuhara's last show (which I still haven't seen) has blatant lifts from Argento's Suspiria, which makes me feel refreshingly justified. This might be the nerdiest thing I've ever been relief-happy about. But, total thrill.

And my refund is… more taxes than I paid in the first place? 
Oh well, I'm not going to complain. Not with this administration, anyways. I can use the money to fund things the federal government should be funding but isn't.

That can happen. There are tax credits and tax deductions. The later reduce the amount of money that can be taxed, therefore making you owe less. The former is cash that happens regardless of how much your taxable income is. That's why as a student it's unlikely one would owe, and would in fact get cash back. The student tax benefits are all credits, iirc.
Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

Me too! I gave a little of my huge Federal refund to some of the state programs that California lets you donate to when you file for taxes. Goodness knows they'll need it now.

I finally put my latest coloring book up for sale! Holy crap this one gave me a lot of grief!!! It was a more ambitious undertaking than my previous books, but I was able to do it because of all I've learned from past publishings - yet I still managed to make a rookie mistake and wasted quite a bit of time in the process. In any case it is done and I spent the day taking promo pictures, which was pretty sweet. 
My website is almost all set up as well and I am really happy with how it is coming out. Overall, a productive day and spring break. Back to my full-time job tomorrow!

The police just rescued a dog from the lake below my apartment.
Which I wouldn't have noticed, if not for a friend PMing me, "look at your window." Something else that makes me happy, regularly; people tipping me off to things I definitely want to see.

My mom's coming to visit in a couple months!
And, while I was stood up this afternoon (for a good reason, turns out), I was rescued from waiting dumbly by students who were still in costume for a dress rehearsal, and so had coffee with three women in lovely old-timey skirts and blouses with prettier sleeves than you usually anymore, and two in British Navy drag.
If that wasn't on my bucket list, it shoulda been.

I'm finally working on the sweater I've wanted to knit for YEARS 
(this one)
And I got really good yarn for it. Like, "this is coming out of my tax refund" good. It's deep turquoise for most of it, and the ruffle is a contrasting multi-colored.

Normally, I don't mind being caght in warm rain without an umbrella, but I had electronics with me, today. And, I was saved by a group of students, who insisted I take one of their umbrellas. Which, when I was back indoors, I discovered retracts into a flower instead of just winding up!
I will return it, but flower umbrella is the best umbrella!
