This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
As you may or may not know, there is a belief that people with a certain blood type tend to have similar personality traits as others of the same blood type.
Type A
People with blood type A have a deep-rooted strength that helps them stay calm in a crisis when everyone else is panicking. However, they tend to avoid confrontation, and feel very uncomfortable around people.
A types are shy and sometimes withdrawn. They seek harmony and are very polite, but all the same feel that they never really fit in with others. A types are very responsible. If there is a job to be done, they prefer to take care of it themselves. These people crave success and are perfectionists. They are also very creative, and the most artistic of all the blood types, most likely because of their sensitivity.
People with blood type A are also likely to be considered classic "type A's": stressed and conscientious.
Type B
People with blood type B are the most practical of the blood groups. They are specialists in what they do. When they start a project, they spend extra time understanding and trying to follow directions than others might. When they are doing something, all of their attention is focused on it. They tend to stick to a goal and follow it through to the end, even if it seems impossible. They tend to be less than cooperative, as they like to follow their own rules and their own ideas. They are individualists. B type people pay attention to their thoughts a little more than their feelings, and therefore can sometimes seem cold and serious.
People with blood type B are often considered more relaxed, freewheeling, and unconventional than other types, although not necessarily to an unacceptable degree. In anime, the genki, off-the-wall types are type B, along with any kind of well-intended character who's ruled by their impulses.
Type AB
People with blood type AB are hard to categorize. They can have characteristics on both ends of the spectrum at the same time. For instance, they are both shy and outgoing. They easily switch from one opposite to another. AB people are trustworthy and responsible, but can't handle it when too much is asked of them. They don't mind doing favors or helping out, as long as its on their own conditions. People with this blood type are interested in art and metaphysics.
AB is considered the worst blood type. In predictability-loving Japan, they're loose cannons. They also like to set their own conditions and reserve the right to drop out when things don't meet their expectations. They're known to be sensitive and considerate—at times—but it just isn't enough to balance out the flaws in this blood type. For a while, some companies tried dividing their employees into work groups based on blood type, and no one wanted to work with the AB group. Anime villains are likely to be type AB.
Type O
People with blood type O people are outgoing, energetic and social. They are the most flexible of the blood types. They easily start up projects but often have trouble following through because they give up easily. They are flighty and not too dependable. O types always say what's on their mind. They value the opinion of others and like to be the center of attention. Also, people with O blood are extremely self-confident.
Type O, the most "average" blood type, is considered the best type in Japan.
In the dating and mating world they also claim that if you are a certain blood type, then you are better off going out with people with certain bloodtypes.
A is most compatible with A and AB.
B is most compatible with B and AB.
AB is most compatible with AB, B, A, and O.
O is most compatible with O and AB.
Basically if you are an AB type, your world is your bedroom.*hehe*
SO EVERYONE, TELL US YOUR BLOOD TYPE AND MENTION IF THE PERSONALITY PROFILE FITS OR NOT!

I'm AB+ 8D
Some of it is true, while some of it isn't. Definetly hard to categorize. I'm the kind of person that laughs when feeling miserable without finding it out of place. I'm not responsible, at all. Don't trust me with anything, but that's why I surprise people so often when I do manage. Hopefully a future art student, while my first choice used to be psychology. So, that's a right.
The worst blood type? Haha, thank you very much.
The truth is, I'm too sensitive and considerate of other people's feelings for my own good. I don't impose my conditions on anyone. So that's false. Instead, I always accept the conditions of others, which usually leaves me unhappy when people exploit it. That might be my flaw, because it doesn't make me a very sociable person. Then again, I'm almost always kind to people, even when I'm not trying.
PS: Have you noticed that the dating compatibility is partially (just a little) connected with the compatibility of blood transfusion? An while we're at it, it says I'm compatible with everyone. It's quite the opposite, actually. NO ONE WANTS ME!! ANGST; ANGST. EMO. D:

HOLY CHIT.
I'm AB+ too. It fits me in the oddest way. Best example is that I, a straight A-student who never had a real detention and actually had negative in school suspensions (long story) looked around half way through my softmore year, decided I was the smartest person in the school and started making fun of my teachers constantly before dropping out the second I turned 16. I'm still proud of that one. I don't think I have the stones to do it now.
I found a list of occupations for AB bloodtypes. My favourite on that list was Negotiator.
Japan hates me
PS FOR THE SAME THING ARKI PSED FOR (omg so similar): From my experience people -like- me and want me to be their girlfriend in theory, but when confronted with the harsh reality of my never wanting to talk to them unless I want sex and wanting sex no less than four times a day they tend to run screaming.

Oooh I always wondered about this, after seeing it on Utena. Thanks for the descriptions!
I'm type O.
O is described as a superficial flirt, it sounds like. Outgoing, energetic and social = all very true, once you are in my inner circle, but strangers probably perceive me as a very polite stone. I rather agree more with the description of my zodiac sign, Cancer. I was very introspective, and decided I had all of these personality traits before I actually read about my zodiac sign. So, once I saw they matched so similarly, I was taken! Cancer's are supposedly very family-oriented, love home & family, shy before you know them, but extremely loving once you do. Super sensitive, but at the same time (like a crab with a hard shell) can reflect a stony disposition. "They are the most flexible of the blood types." Again, true... I can adapt and be comfortable in most all situations, with every sort of person.
"O types always say what's on their mind. They value the opinion of others and like to be the center of attention. Also, people with O blood are extremely self-confident." No, I usually keep my opinion to myself if it will cause conflict, unless the subject is of vital importance and I can bring it up with tact. I hate the center of attention, unless it's at karaoke! I prefer to attend birthday parties than have one. Self confidence, yes... but I think I groomed this myself, because I was a very pathetic, self-hating teenager, so I made the pendulum swing the other way once I became an adult. "They easily start up projects but often have trouble following through because they give up easily. They are flighty and not too dependable." Hm, yes I have hundreds of notebooks with unfinished stories, half finished paintings, barely finished scrapbooks, half developed rolls of film, lots of plans that were hastily made then hastily abandoned. It's the worst thing about myself that I constantly try to change. I bought a book, "8 Days to an Organized Life" and can't get organized enough to read it! Little mundane life things, I give up, yes... but people, NO! Family & friends, I never give up on. Stick through thick and thin.
As far as compatibility, the Chinese zodiac signs are always interesting too... I'm a rooster.

I still don't know my blood-type. I've been giving blood samples to those damned doctors for so long and asking them to find it out for me, but NO!
But then again, I'm a bit sceptical about stuff like that, though it's definitely interesting to read about it.

Ohh, chinese zodiacs! i'm Goat, and proud of it.
You know, the damn chinese zodiac sometimes it's really scary...
I'm O+, in the spanish bloodtypes at least.... u

I'm type B, and my Chinese zodiac sign is a tiger. Rawr.
For the most part it is pretty accurate, people think that I'm "cold" and "Serious" and then they find out I'm a big goofball!

I am scared now because that is too much coincidence
And funny about the best type because over here is everywere!!!! XD A, B, and AB are more rare

Utena bloodtypes!:
Utena: B
Anthy: AB
Touga: A
Saionji: O
Juri: A
Miki: O
Kozue: O
Nanami: B
Wakaba: O
Shiori: B
Mikage: AB
Mitsuru: O
Keiko: A
Kanae: AB
Akio: A
I'm type O, but the description for that bloodtype doesn't fit my personality at all. For one thing, I don't give up on projects easily. Quite the opposite, actually. Once I set a goal for myself, I'm too stubborn to give up on it until it's completed, or until I realize that it's impossible. That tends to be a bad thing when the goal I’m trying to complete is very difficult and time consuming, or simply impossible.
As for the Zodiac, I'm a goat... You know, I've never seen the resemblance between Shiori and a goat... But then again, most people don't see the resemblance between Ruka's head and a pentagon, whereas I think it's clear as day.
Actually, technically I'm a horse, because I was born before the Chinese new year. I forget when that is, but it's sometime after February 4th, I think.

SKU disagrees, given the above list.
I'm O+, and that fits me like ass-chaps and a cowboy hat.
Which is to say not at all.

Yes.

Always.
They are flighty and not too dependable.
That's me.
O types always say what's on their mind.
Without fail.
They value the opinion of others and like to be the center of attention.
*has "LOVE MEEEE" written on her forehead*
Also, people with O blood are extremely self-confident.
Tragically so.
Type O, the most "average" blood type, is considered the best type in Japan.
I could have easily told you that.
What I don't like about blood typing is that there seems to be too little groups for the possible personalities in the world.
Offline
To all those people who said that the bloodtypes don't really match their personality, well thats why they call it a belief and not a scientific fact.
I myself have an O+ bloodtype which is ironic as out of all the different bloodtypes, the O type fits me the least as all the other types have personality traits that fit me more, which proves that Bloodtype based personality tests are not exactly the most reliable form of personality reading.
In the Chinese Zodiac as I was born before the Chinese New Year of that year, it turns out that I am actually a Fire Rabbit which makes me one hot cross bunny.
I was surprised that Akio was an A type as it doesn't fit him that well but it seems that Anthy is the AB type which is usually the villain bloodtype... it makes you wonder about her true role doesn't it?

Hmm, I don't see what's so terrible about the AB type (though I'm AB and it's actually not too far off base) beyond being unpredictable and hard to categorize. Then again, to some people that's the worst thing in the world.
Offline
Other than her personality, and assuming that AB is an uncommon bloodtype in Japan as well, I always figured that Anthy's bloodtype was AB because it's rare, like everything else about her. (Her birthday only shows up on the calender once every four years, for goodness sake!) The same applies for Kanae, because she is an Ohtori, after all, and Mikage is a genius, which is a very rare gift.
Apparently they have a sitcom in Japan called "My Boyfriend is Type B." The heroin of the show is a stereotypical type A, and her boyfriend is type B.
Offline
Anthy's birthday was February 29 and I didn't know that? Some fan I am.

I'm type A, and I think it fits me mostly, given that I'm shy and sensitive. I saw that Akio was type A as well. It looks strange at first, but makes sense if you look at the information in the EM Akio shrine.
I am not like Akio, though. I am very much un-sexual (as in I don't flirt well and don't take well to being flirted with by boys). And I pretty much wear my heart on my sleeve now, but I made a concious decision about that a while ago.

I'm either really surprised at the proportion of AB people on this board on a statistical level, or really unsurprised on a superstitious level.

You're not the only surprised one here, I am a blood doner and according to a pamplet they gave me, about 40% are O+ which is what I am, A+ was the second at about 25% (if I recall correctly). AB+ and AB- are only about 1-2% of the population.

I am an A+, but I am far from a perfectionist. The other points are quite right, however.
By the way, my fiance is also an A+, yet our presonalities differ quite a lot, so I am not taking this fully.
I hope you are not offended, Tamago.

I'm not offended at all, in fact the bloodtype test pretty much missed the mark completely when it comes to describing my personality.
On the other hand, Astrology has more or less hit my nail on the head as it describes Aquarians pretty well as I am one myself.
It goes to show you that some methods of fortune telling are better than others

Hahah, when I tried to donate blood (blah. They took my blood and pricked my finger and made me wade through the paperwork just to say, "Uh, I know diabetics can give blood but we're going to toss yours out because the manager's paranoid. Uhg) my first thought was that ABs are basically the most useless bloodtype for donating.
I'm sure there are a lot of ABs who'd think it was funny to run out and donate after finding that out.

lol I heard about the "My Boyfriend is Type B" drama. Apparently it's teh worst type to date because they're unfaithful... or just bad boyrfriends in general. XD

I'm very much a type A, sans the shyness. I'd go with more "reserved" than "socially uncomfortable."
As for the Chinese Zodiac... (Sean Connery a la Dragonheart) I'M A DRAGON
EDIT: I forgot to mention that while reading Aristotle's "On the Soul" a similar notion of blood "type" (consistency) governing personality traits was mentioned -- I remember sitting in class and thinking, "Now where have I heard this before?"

Type A+
I'm not particularly a "people person," but I try to manage. I am rather creative with my words (I write fanfiction and data files a lot) and am fairly reserved (don't even try speaking to me on the telephone).
The descriptions seem to fit me well enough. But we all have differences that define who we, as individuals, are. Not everything works properly when stereotyped.
