This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

Her legs are way too long, and her mouth is a little low, but I love the dress, it's really cute!
Offline
um...by all fashion designing standards....no. her legs are fine. and if you think the mouth looks weird then you dont look at too much anime.
but thanks for the input. im glad you like the dress.

She's just suggesting what might be wrong with it, because you mentioned that you thought it looked funny. Personally, I think it looks fine.

i wasnt trying to sound rude or anything! never ever! but it is indeed true. i kinda did feel it a personal blow to my style. : (

*hugs* Not at all, dear. You did open yourself up to that-- no one would have said anything without an implied invitation like that, so your response was a bit rude, but it's not like Iris was criticizing your style to be rude herself. If it had been me who posted something like that, I would have meant it as helpful, so that if you agreed you would be able to work on it in the future.
But like I said, I think it looks fine.

*hug back*

I still kind of like the Lolita style, it's cute. I used to like it more, but then I found out what Lolita meant and it sort of put me off a bit. S'still cute though. Can't go wrong with poofy skirts and shiny shoes. I do have a a few pieces of Lolita-ish stuff- a poofy black skirt, a black corset with white roses on it, a black shirt with lace and bows on it and some lolita-y shoes.
I also have a black suit jacket that I'm thinking of sewing lace onto the cuffs of.
Hey, it would be cool to see Utena and Anthy in Lolita-like versions of their outfits, huh?

Ohhh, I'm getting new clothes next week!
This:
And this:
I love sales *-* Cost me a lot of money, though... -anticipates next paycheck-

The fashion isn't directly related to the book by Nabokov, or lolicon, actually. But that in itself is debatable-- the "sexiness" of the clothes is really up to one's own opinion-- but it isn't normally considered a fetish fashion. At least, that wasn't its intent at all, and it still isn't. Can't help it if other people look at it and see that, though (it's like Catholic schoolgirl uniforms that way). Personally, I don't see what's so hot about dressing like retarded Victorian children but I'm not going to argue with someone for feeling that way. ; But I sure as hell am not trying to seduce anyone with my loli antics.

Actually I kind of find the style antisexualizased. As somebody described it: the greatest thing about lolita is that is subversive without been agresive or sexualised

The second one is quite beautiful teapot
(not that the first isn't!)
I'm considering making my own cane... You think if I stain a round stick of some sort, add a rubber grip and a fancy end on top I could use that? I'm so lazy though I'm pretty sure how to do it... All I've seen around is those Goth canes with demons and skulls on top, and they look rather silly if you ask me.
I wanna get me a pair of handcuffs so I can look absolutely ridiculous cuffed by my wrist to a stuffed sheep.
It's also near impossible to find a men's umbrella in Texas. I've found some for $70 plus, but it never rains... (Now that I've said this, its going to rain tomorrow...)
And no, lolita isn't like the lolita complex and the book and the like. It's uhh... More about being elegant than sexy. Besides, many children wear ALOT more revealing things now. (bad at explaining thigns ~__~)

My birthday is coming up, and I've been online shopping all day for a new dress. It's going to be perfect, I won't settle for anything less. So once I find it, order it, and it arrives, I'll take pictures in it. I'll probably post the picture of it from the site even before I get it, just because the anticipation will kill me.

Whoosh. I was bored in geomoetry today. I swear to god, this started out as me doodling. Then I got more into it, then I came home and finished it up. Long story short, it's got a lot of lolita influence, so here it shall reside.
Let's revel in dollface's gross lack of artistic skillz. I just wanted a loli girl with fishnets to add some spunk, that's really all it was.

shes beautiful! im actually holding a little contest on my DA page for designing a Lolita for one of my characters...i should have posted it here, maybe someone who is here and has a DA would do it too.

KTK, your drawings are gorgeous. It's obvious you do design, but do you sew? You'd probably have half the forum beating down the door if you did.

I'm sure there's some college or university offering basic sewing where you are. I tried, but I'm too lead-footed on the sewing machine, and things get FUBARed in rather short order. Or you could probably befriend a fashion major and get them to do all that for you.

i wish i could see my creations come to life....but i dont think it will ever happen. these things take time and money that i dont have petience or cash for.

Watch out fellow lolitas, I just was looking at character design notes for the Utena movie, and it said Anthy wore the lolita dress in the flashback because that's Akio's "preference". If you don't be careful, you may find Movie!Akio fondling the clothes in your closet one night. Don't forget to shut your windows before you go to sleep!
