This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

COMMERCIALS! THEY HAZ THEM!

If you wait for them to load, they'll play, or you can right click to download them to Quicktime. There's not much to them, but omg, the sound has improved!
I find it immensely amusing that Touga's bit was just "Hey, baby."

ADV seems to be taking a new strategy of releasing DVDs for licenses held by other companies, as opposed to buying up their own anymore. This inculdes a new Petshop of Horrors DVD. So maybe a remastered Utena thinkpak isn't such an impossibility if CPM still holds it.

I do wish they had translated the "revolution" catchphrase into grammatically acceptable French, but that's just me being picky. It would be more correct to say "pour la revolution du monde". 'Revolution' is not a verb in French.
I mean, I'm probably expecting too much, but "la fillette revolutionnaire" is such correct and even cute French that it's kind of disappointing to see them make that mistake.
Nitpicking aside, I hope they re-release Utena in North America too.

I'm so late, but I LOVE YOU MYLENE. This just makes me want the CD boxset even more... a page just for Shiori, her own little special section... It's not much, but it's definately a score for Team Shiori!

Was/is the movie being remastered as well?

The movie is included with the second DVD box set.

WTF? I just got a notice from CDJapan canceling my order for the 2nd DVD boxset. They said King Record informed them that it was canceled. Anyone else receiving this sort of notice from places where they ordered?
Edit: Looked at YesAsia, and they still have it listed, but it's been shifted from 11/26 to 12/31/08. Hmm...might go ahead and put the order over there, I guess.
Also, CDJapan has listed the first boxset as OOP at this point. Guess it really was a limited release. I'll talk to Paradox tonight and see if we want to go ahead and place a preorder with YesAsia now instead, since it's still up at the least, and I want to confirm that I'll get it. I just wish they didn't roll part of the cost of shipping into the price...they better have a slight price cut on EMS pricing. Given some recent issues I've had with USPS, I'm not willing to go with the free choice--I want to SIGN for it to be certain it actually gets here.

OOP already? Man, and I was saving up, too.

So, how much hell do we have to raise to get a US release? Can we send pleading mail to anyone?

Enoki Films and Central Park Media. Those would be the ones you'd want. However, seeing as Utena is largely out of print in the US and the series is old, I highly doubt with the small size of the fandom that they would bring the TADS here. For one, it's really expensive. Second, it's a cult series. Thirdly, CPM screwed Utena. Have you seen the DVD covers in the US? Yeah...
You could try... there is hope... just not a whole lot of it.

DVD covers? That's the tip of the iceberg. The English dub make me want to tear my ears out.

It's not that bad. Only thing that was really bad was a certain person's acting in one particular balcony scene, but other wise solid. I really like Rachel Lilis as Utena.

So far, my only gripe about the dub is that Mamiya sounds too damn creepy. Maybe if I actually watched the sub, I'd understand why everybody bitches about the dub...
But then, the subtitles get in the way of things, and obscure the screen where I want to see it. (Obviously, the duel chorus subs don't count toward this, of course.)
What am I to do? Listen to the "horrible, horrible" dub, or have my view of the show blocked by the text of the subtitles?

Really? I adore Mamiya's dub because he sounds so creepy and malicious.

Apparently, they're listing it as HD digital remaster, with a 5.1 sound remaster.
It also lists a digitally remastered Complete CD Box.
Splash page joy!

Oh my goodness that is so much better. I'm going to cut off a limb and sell it on the black market for box set money. I don't really need my left leg that much.

I have a question... Is the remastered series being released on DVD only or will there be a Blu-Ray edition, too?

It's an HD remaster, so I'd say yes. However, you always release the DVD first ahead of time so you can milk it for the most.

I would love to see it if you could rip it!
I plan to buy one eventually but for now that will have to be enough.
