This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Sorry Gio, as compensation I recommend recalling a certain thread in which a spambot inquired regarding "the limitations of Wordpress", that ought to help...
While what you suggest may sound quite fitting from a purely aesthetic perspective, I personally can't agree with such a decision. The whole point of my post is that while both lines are currently translated the same way as "You wouldn't understand", the literal phrasing of Wakaba's line (which the survey question notes as "You don't deserve to understand!") is quite clearly different, a more extreme phrasing than Saionji's casual dismissal.
The more I think about that, the more convinced I become that casting my vote in favor of changing the sub is the right call...
Offline
Yeah, you're right. David also got into the difference more and I see it now. It made sense to me at a point where the translations seemed similar enough to not change by matching, but yeah, they clearly do so it won't work.
Also holy shit how do you remember this stuff??? This thread is so old the pictures don't work anymore because it's from before I rebuilt the gallery.
But...as long as an epic thread stays in this garden we call the forums, it will never have dead image links.

Davine is awesome. I can't wait to see him for the eclipse, it'll be great.

Hey everyone! Here's the latest iteration of the subtitle surveys-- please let me know if you have any issues with translation in episodes 25-39 and I will pass them along to Nozomi on August 14th!

Fresh from Otakon, comes two new LE Blu-Ray Box Set images. They also confirmed that it with be a 3-part deluxe box, complete with a 264-page hardbound full-colour book, and the two replica Rose and Black Rose rings (both US size 7)! EXTREMELY LIMITED, they say.
So the window of the slipcover box has now been changed (from the previous rose crest) to this photo frame. It's now the unframed version of the infamous rose frame we see scattered throughout the show.
In regards to the packaging sequence, it seems that the right-side box will house the contents. That box will slip into the left-side box, which will then slip into the final (middle) box with the cut out window. A box stuffed in to another box that's stuffed into yet another box, with a window. What metaphor is this?

Is the survey still open? The link seems to be working but I see we're past the deadline (why didn't I see this thread sooner?!), so I figure I'll just post this here hoping for the best.
There's a minor quirk in the translation of Juri's last duel song (episode 29, IRC) that has annoyed me for years.
At 17:13 Nozomi's subs read "Santa Maria della Consolazione", but if your Italian is good () you'll recognize that the chorus is actually saying "Santa Maria della Concezione".
Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini is a small church in Rome that's mostly known around the world for its quite... unique crypt. It also ties nicely in with the earlier reference to the Gardens of Bomarzo at 17:00.
Thanks anyway!

So it seems that Japan is releasing the Complete Blu-Ray Box Set as well, scheduled for 15th November. The first pressing will feature new Hasegawa Shinya artwork, plus a 150+ pages booklet (which coincidentally, is also what Nozomi's upcoming box set contains). Priced at ¥39,960. This is followed by the Utena 20th Anniversary Memorial Exhibition at the Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro from 16th - 20th November (just 5 days!)
Does Nozomi have the same content (minus the musical, obviously) in their Ulta Box Set? I certainly hope so. At least this set will include the two rings, plus remastered English subtitles and dub.

Something is off about these new images (besides the ring being on the wrong hand). That face …

I wonder if this is why Nozomi waited until this year to release the English version? If so, I'm grateful, especially for the art booklet! My wallet, it huuurrrttsss...
Good point about the musicals. If so, hooray! (But also, argghhhhh.)

Oops. I should have been more clear. Lemme try!
The Japanese release of Utena, be it the DVD or Blu-Ray sets, has always had the Utena musicals included. But considering it's very-limited appeal to western audiences, both CPM and Nozomi decided not to get the license for it. As such, as far as I know (and I could be wrong), previous western DVD releases and Nozomi's upcoming Utena 20th Anniversary Ultra Blu-Ray Collection will NOT include the any of the musicals, as everything they license and release has to be profitable. You can always double-dip and get this upcoming Japanese Blu-Ray re-release, if you're really in need of it. No English subtitles though.

To be more clear, you must mean the first musical, since footage does not apparently exist of the second musical and third stage show.

Yes, I meant the first musical. What they have of it. As for the remaining musicals, I don't know if it will remain unrecorded, or if they did indeed record it and are putting it out for the first time. The product listing isn't very clear, as of this point, about the contents included. We shall see …

Ok cool. The first musical is on Youtube and there are a few pics of the second musical floating out in internet space. I am desperate for those musicals! I blame Sera Myu. However the third musical is the most interesting to me. I still have "Anthy mows down a herd of zombies with a machine gun" fan art on my project list.

Per Nozomi Entertainment's fb page: "If your soul has not truly given up, then you can hear the sound of these pages flipping. Here's the Utena art book prototype from the 20th Anniversary Ultra Bluray Set."
Yay for it being hardcover. Nay for it being soundless. Did they screw up the posting? Or is this the Sound of Silence at the End of the World?

I think they did mean that it’s not soundless. Ah well.

From the looks of it, it seems the artbook is a compilation of all the little booklets that came with each 2011 DVD boxset. I thiught it was gonna be new stuff, but that’s still pretty neat.

Well, since they conveniently omitted the audio track, are they implying that all our souls have truly given up? That, or I need to have my selective hearing checked …LOL …

Most of the content will be recycled from the previous booklets, as it's still relevant. There will be new content, but don't expect much. It's unlikely to feature the Utena merchandise/franchises/20th Anniversary Exhibition that has been popping up as of late. I doubt it, at least. It is serial numbered up to 6 digits, though … so … 999,999 copies?

Funny that there's no sound in the Facebook version. I saw that video on Twitter and it plays the vocal version of Aphrodite of Death.

But I still can't hear the sound of those pages flipping. I only see it being flipped … with effort. And shouldn't it be The Dance of Death instead? LOL I'm being silly …

And now … about that upcoming Utena 20th Anniversary Japanese Blu-Ray set …
https://www.facebook.com/Utena20th/phot … mp;theater
It's so pretty and colourful. Nozomi went all black; King Records went all colourific! But that digipack artwork is so … Fifty Shades of Dull Gray Shadows? Could be better … hmm. Let's see if any of these shadow art makes it's way into Nozomi's hardbound book.

I totally dig that Akio looks like he's making the throat slashy gesture except with a sword.
Given that this box comes with like 160 pages of booklet, I'm assuming the art from the last box set will be found there. I hope, anyway.
