This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

If I were tired of cornfields, I'd have moved by now. Although I do like fountains... I've only been to Indiana in passing, is that where you grew up?
Yes, I've lived here since I was 2 (born in South Carolina). I lived on a small farm until I was 18 and went off to Purdue for university.
I've only been through Kansas twice--but there wasn't any corn up at that time. We did play "tag the tumbleweed" though since we were the only car on I-70 for many long stretches of it.

Well, strictly speaking, we have more soybeans than corn...but it all kind of looks the same to me.

Here are a few shots from my recent trip to the Omaha zoo:
Black Swan:
Mackaw
Don't remember, but they're cute
I don't know what to call this, but it was much glowier than the photo shows. Wrong spectrum I guess.
I didn't do a thing to this one but resize it I swear. The penguins just came out looking all glowy.
Okapi (good catch Red Angel)
Anemone
White Tiger...Siberian I think.
Black Bear
Clouded Leopard (also kittybum)
EDIT: captions. sorry.
EDIT EDIT: Wrong captions.

The penguin pic is just awesome. And what is that creature with the striped legs? Some hybrid of a zebra and something else?
Offline
I don't remember what they were called, but there was an extinct animal that looked like that... I think they were trying to recreate one through genetic manipulation.
Also, that last picture is kittybum.
Offline
Hm. It would be interesting if they could indeed recreate an extinct creature.
Offline
If I could remember the name of it, I would show you pictures.
I have pics that I took expressly for this thread, and I still haven't posted them. How pathetic is that?
Offline
Tsk tsk. You haven't been around much either... but life has gotten in the way. I know how that goes.

I'm pretty sure its an Okapi

Well it holds up under a Google image search so I'd say you're right. Nice going, Red Angel.

I'm going to start a thread-- 'Ask me how to fail a math class in one month, and get honors on your final!'
Actually, no, I'm not.
I will try to post pics tonight.

Seriously, Stormy, you astound me with your photography.
One picture from last summer:
OHGOD THE HAIR.
Offline
StormCrow: I love that photos! I want this white tiger

I just can't stop showing off my new camera! Besides, you'll like these...they're roses!
White first, I think:
Pink:
Red:
And Yellow:
A couple of bouquet shots:
And this one is a hibiscus, but I'm posting it anyway...
By the way, if anybody wants wallpaper, just let me know.

Stormcrow, those shots are beautiful... The yellow rose looks like a professional shot.

You're quite the photographer there, Stormcrow. We like.

More amazing shots!
Here's one from my back yard.
And one from the orchard.
And the memorial fountain in a nearby town.

I'm a little late, but here's a picture of the garden in my backyard. (From three years ago. There aren't as many flowers blooming right now, but there should be by the end of the summer.) It's not as awesome as Lady Nilamarthiel's backyard, or the garden near where Stormcrow lives, but I like it.
Offline
Ah, the sunlit garden, where the twins grew up...
And I just noticed Lady N's photo of the fountain. I'm very fond of fountains.

If I ever remember to take my camera, I'll get a picture of the fountain on my campus by the library where I work.
I should post a few of the pictures from the White River Gardens that I took last month. Some turned out nicely, and it shows that there actually are a few pretty parts to Indianapolis. I still prefer, nice, green, open stretches of cornfields though. If only I could get broadband in the country around here.

Oh, hush. Is is so very, very gorgeous. If I had a garden like that, I would revel in it every day, regardless of my allergy to the sun.

O Stormcrow, when I saw the individual pics of the roses, I can't help connecting them to our dear SKU cast, like the white and pink ones for Utena like that.
Offline
Yeah, I tried to get the different colors for exactly that reason...no Saionji though, I wonder why?
Offline
Dye the roses, then
