This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Omg! omg you guys! Who has $2000+?
This was for sale at one of the Expo booths. It was done by Hiromi a few years ago, silly me didn't realize he was actually at the con until a few minutes ago, and it is SOOO beautiful. The pictures does not do it justice.
Best part? The back of the board is covered in marker where he was testing out the color. I almost swooned.
But yeah, it's over $2000. They were still kind enough to let me take a picture.

I must question some (well, a lot) of the anatomy decisions in Utena promo art, but fuckitall. I totally agree. This is SO pretty. (And I love Anthy's hair to be a little lumpy. Seitokai arc designs were pretty drab.)

Go for it! I'm just sorry I didn't get a better picture of it.

This is so self-absorbed, but I can't begin to tell you how happy it makes me to see that his marker work is streaky in places too.

Same here! I loved that he tried out the markers on back and you could see the pencil lines outlining their shadows.

if this is by the character designer, I have to say, his art has gotten better since the series.

Nilamarthiel - they're gorgeous! Thank you!
BenHo - I'm guessing they had to keep things simple for the animation since the designs were complicated enough, but this looks really good.
