This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

What was it again? She signed a three-record deal with a label that no longer exists, and the contract got bought out by some Texan who hates her guts, so now she can't record any new music? And this was not some random obscure indie artist -- Poe was huge among mainstream critics after Haunted was released. It makes me mad that this shit happens to anyone, much less to people who make music like this.
I have been listening to songs whose titles are bare verbs. There aren't very many of them. Basically there is one enormously famous song -- John Lennon's "Imagine" -- and then a smattering of much lesser known titles like REM's "Accelerate," Lindsey Stirling's "Crystallize," and Liz Phair's "Shatter."

Replace Pizzicato Five with capsule and you've got me right now. What can I say? I like Nakata's production.
Also, Disclosure. Mostly "Latch" (linked below), but the whole record is pretty good.

The Indigo Girls' "The Philosophy of Loss."
Whatever has happened to anyone else
Could happen to you and to me,
And the end of my youth was the possible truth
That it all happens randomly.

Yeah there is a lot of red tape involving her case, like so much in fact---she can't record under her artist name.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles (PSP) -- Dance of Illusions ~Sound Test Menu~
A song that has, by Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, become Dracula's leitmotif for all further appearances. I think this version is the best, though.

Shinee makes me smile. Plus, it's always nice to see a super-engineered band start to take its own direction. (Seriously, they should make their own Head.)

I love Onew's voice to bits and pieces
This has Kazaky written all over it. It's repetitive...but so addicting.
I have this weirdest ( nonsexual, even! ) fascination with men in heels.

Lots of Cramps and Princessa on rotation at the mo. Most recently, Goddammed Rock and Roll and Again & Again.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PSP) -- Nocturne (English Lyrics)
Allow me an explanation. This is from the PSP unlockable available in Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. Those who have played the SEGA Saturn port will know exactly what I'm talking about here. The Sprite -- the duplicate Fairy familiar? -- well, her gimmick is singing this song when you're sitting in a chair, practicing the Slouch of Villainy. Lyrics are melancholy and damn depressing, but the melody is fucking awesomesauce.
Here a goddess of happiness cries
An endless, timeless lullaby.
Sings her song of the dreams she has
The sadness fills her eyes.
End of love, love is gone
No more dreams to dream about
So life is done.
If it's so, cut the thread
It's time to let it go.
Tears, they flow to the thirst of the gods
The ocean's roars drowned out by rain.
Blameless wolf carries on alone
The silence now surrounds him.
Sooner than, dreaming ends
Morning of the dawn will bring another day.
Turn around, you have found
A different place to dream.

The Pogues' Fairytale of New York
"Sinatra was swinging
all the drunks they were singing
we kissed on the corner
then danced through the night
All the boys of the NYPD choir
were singing Galway Bay,
and the bells were ringing out,
for Christmastime..."
and then they have their fight and stuff. God that's a lovely song.

The Ghosts of Mars soundtrack. John Carpenter put together a hell of a superband there. So many kickass songs.

Happened to hear Breakdown by the Alan Parson's Project on the radio. Now I find myself listening to all of I Robot. Why couldn't I have been a teenager a decade earlier?

I suppose this is a good thread in which to establish my intense devotion to Bruce Springsteen.

I can't see the vids (youtube, I assume), but The Boss is, indeed, always boss.
Listening to Amanda Lear's Comics. Sweet Revenge is a brilliant album, both the story-side and the singles on the flipside.
