I love Family Guy! Got most of it on DVD. Brian reminds me of..uh...me. Except with martinis instead of wine. emot-keke

Akio, you have nice turns of phrase, but your points aren't clear and you have no textual support. I can't give this a passing grade.

Re: Family Guy

Family Guy can be quite amusing. It's just so ludicrous. I love the fact that Stewie seems to be the only character who seems aware of the fact that Brian's a dog and that Lois is completely unaware of Stewie's constant attempts on her life.

Re: Family Guy

Yeah, it's American Dad. I don't really like it either because it's basically an AU Family Guy that's not as funny.

Ugh, yeah, American Dad is Family Guy whackiness without the wit. Kinda like King of the Hill just isn't as funny as Beavis and Butthead. emot-frown

Meh. I don't really care for much of Family Guy. It has it's moments, tho...

I guess...

The first time you looked at her curves you were hooked
And the glances you took, took hold of you and demanded that you stay
And sunk in their teeth, bit your heart and released
Such a charge that you need another touch, another taste, another fix

My favorite scene was when Peter and Lois were in their bedroom and decided to try role-playing, and it turned into a D&D discussion.

EDIT: Found it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkgeBjpdpbQ

My fave is when the family beats the crap out of each other. The name of that episode was lethal weapons. Lois was tired of being stepped on so she took Tai-jitsu classes.....and then Stewie hit Peter with a bat for eating his graham crackers....harsh....

Out of curiosity, what did they did to offend you? I haven't watched much of King of the Hill, so I'm not familiar with the content.

Re: Family Guy

I personally don't really like King of the Hill, either. The way they talk, it goes into everything around you but your ears. Now Stewie's metrosexual quips emot-dance

Stewie's teacher: "First, look at those pictures." (All the pictures are Stewie SOMEHOW killing Lois)
Lois: "Oh my god, the father's not in the picture!"
And much later, Stewie killed his pre-school teacher instead of Lois.
"BLAST! I missed her!"

One episode, Hank's new driver's license came back reading "female" and he had to go through a bunch of shit on top of people calling him a woman to get it changed back. Frankly I pity any poor transperson with the bad luck to be born in Texas because that's exactly what they'd have to go through.

Re: Family Guy

I never liked Family Guy much to begin with, but I was mooching around in a motel room in Los Angeles one night and flicked on the tv, and it was the ep "Brian in Love." I was watching the bit where Brian is driving along a country road and accidentally runs over this guy.

"Oh my God, are you Stephen King?!"
"...no, I'm Dean Koontz!"
"...oh." [gets back in the car and reverses over him before driving off again]

Being the kind of nerd I am, I was in love. Although my personal favourite ep will always be Wasted Talent, because even as a child I had a strange desire for Gene Wilder. Heh. school-devil

Re: Family Guy

While I have a Stewie sweatshirt pulled around me because it's cold, I have to admit I'm not a big fan of Family Guy...preferring instead, the Simpsons, Futurama, King of the Hill, and my personal favorite SOUTH PARK!!! My mutant-genius brother prefers Family Guy though, so I'd say it's the wiser choice. I just thought the characterization was a little weak, as in, could not relate to the pure wackiness without a proper foundation. But, that's just me! And, I do have the Stewie Sweater, so I'd best shut my trap! emot-keke

My relative here in Atlanta came home last night with a new screen-saver on her cell phone. It's the Family Guy's wife, with her pants around her ankles, baring a pair of red panties, with Brain smacking her ass - all in a continuous loop! THAT was pretty hysterical. emot-biggrin

Merriam-Webster wrote:

I'm a fan of the show too; one of the things I like most about it are the non-sequitur references that are made so often... there are tangents everywhere. (edit: just like the link drukqs posted!) It also shows the sad truth about how dumb people can be at times.  I believe that the reason Seth MacFarlane does this is to show just how screwed up people can be, and with Family Guy, he's calling them on their being idiots for acting the way that they do.
