This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
You two are quite the clever little monkeys, Ragnarok and OITL. I have to congratulate you on getting through to the top. I quite literally never would've expected a couple of Ender Pearls to break down all my supposedly-well thought defenses. And how you two managed to get through the bars blocking the treasure I'll never expect.
Still, I'm glad my final failsafe has kept your paws off the treasure of Zakarum, though I will say you're on the right track. Should you manage to shatter my final defense, all I ask is that you 1.) take the actual chest with you, and 2.) put the blocks of the Tower back in their place. You're free to drain the water flows, if you wish; in fact, should you achieve Total Victory, I'd rather appreciate it as a quick and easy reminder.

Aine, can you help? I'm trying to connect to the server, and it displays as up with one player online -- but whenever I try to join, it says "Connection Lost". The error message is 502. Any idea what's up?
ETA:The error message is also sometimes simply "Failed to login: Error", without the 502. I think it's mad at me for finding all the diamonds the last time I was online.

Hm. Well, a quick Google of the error says it's an issue with Minecraft's authentication server, which means it's not something I can fix. The player that is on will continue to be on as long as they don't log off. If they do, then they will encounter your same issue. Pretty much all that can be done is wait for someone at the head office to fix the issue. Sorry guys. I hope it bounces back quick.
ETA: Seems to have solved itself. But if it happens again, now you know why.

I don't think we'd be able to drain the water, and any block removed is automatically put back as soon as it's broken. It's possible to break any part of the metal bars for a brief instant, which gives access to the chest, but they immediately pop back into place. For full disclosure, you can actually get up on the roof with one ender pearl and break through a ceiling block to access the chest, bypassing everything inside the tower completely.

Ha! How sneaky can you get? I love it! No, only registered residents of Kurast can break the blocks of the Tower, which poses a minor problem to somebody like me, who considers themselves to be a diabolical genius. Clearly, I'm easily outwitted. >>;;;
The problem with everybody being able to just drill down from the top is that I don't remember if I'd intentionally set up the block protection to cover the area that high or not. If I wanted you guys to drill through the roof, then you're doin' it right. If not? Well...derp.
I do know that I intend to convert the Tower into something else, once the treasures have been claimed by a non-admin. I was thinking maybe an observatory, but I'd go ask the folks living in Kurast before doing anything else, see what they thought the community should do.
Also, two words, one line. If you two end up living in Kurast, Ragnarok and OITL, I'll share the password if you can show me that you can open the chest...

I did indeed try Story Keeper. Bio, can you confirm if syntax matters? As in, is the password in quotation marks or have a period or something at the end? Do capital letters matter? It's hard to discount what isn't the password when it can be typed several ways.
Offline
I'm fairly certain that syntax and letter case do indeed matter. However, I am known to be wrong on occasion, and since I'm not the one that installs the mods, perhaps Aine would be a better person to ask. Regardless, try that and see if it helps. If you do so, leave something totally derpy and insulting in the chest, please. Something like rotted flesh or the like. Don't worry, I promise I won't get upset over it, since you guys don't have build privileges in Kurast.

I honestly have no clue on the syntax. I've only made passworded chests once on the Novacraft server and hated them so much I promptly went back to the way I did them previously. I might suggest trying decapped and despaced versions of things you've already tried, at least until I find out for sure... if I even can.

Sorry for the double post, but I had a question. Had we decided on the ... issue? desire? of non-forum members being allowed on the server or not?
Offline
I didn't want to encourage it if other players were totally against it. I certainly don't mind if non-forumites play as long as they don't cause issues.
Offline
There shouldn't be any issues so long as everyone follows the rules. I'm assuming it's just friends of people already on the server who'd be interested. I haven't checked but there must be a lot of open servers available, it isn't likely there'd be a sudden influx of total strangers right?

There's only two people I'm thinking of inviting, and I'd be sure to tell them not to hand out our IP address to anyone else.

I'll ask Bio next time I see him, and I know Dragon's happy as long as he has somewhere to play, but sounds like it's all a-go for inviting friends to the server. I don't have a lot of friends, much less friends that play MC, but there were a couple people from my old server that I became friends with that I think I can trust that I might consider. I'm not sure though. I wasn't planning on posting the server on the forums or anything... that'd be inviting trouble and griefers.

I'm down with forumite friends on the server if everybody else is.

Aine finished building the Rose Line for me. Now we have transportation between Spawn City and Duck Junction. It was my first time laying a spiral staircase with track! Someday when I'm feeling masochistic I may upgrade the bridges to underwater railways, but for now it's brilliant!
Offline
I took a ride on the Rose Line last night! Except there was a testificate hiding in the spiral who kept pushing me back. For the sake of public transportation, I had to put him to the sword.
Also, King of the Tower (or whatever its official name is) is tons of fun!
A view from the top.

I keep calling it the Ladder Arena, and that's what the warp is, but that doesn't mean it can't have other names.
You're very good at it, once we figured out how to fix the no hitting issue!
Ragnarok is the current champion, in case anyone is curious.

I was working on the Hana Learning Center today when suddenly it started to rain. The side classrooms were deluged and it wasn't a comfortable learning environment at all. Therefore, I'm pleased to announce that in the event of rain, Learning Center students and faculty are now invited to throw the switch in the main hall to activate the retractable skylights.
