Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Today, someone "recognized" one of my tattoos, which is a rose symbol from Utena, as by this architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

I wonder if this was an influence, or if it's just that art-deco-ish abstract representations of roses are going to necessarily look pretty similar?

He weighs heavy on the overall aesthetic, too, but I think there are some other one to one correlations. I'm not familiar enough to spot-recognize,but I seem to remember someone, way back, pointing some out. Maybe back when discussion newsgroups were big?

He's also mentioned on the Wikipedia article for SKU as a stylistic influence, although there's no citation. I can kind of see it, though.
