This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
I just want to interject to say...
Worst. Sabre. Ever.
Thing must be like a foot and a half long.
Also, why not.

There utterly no doubt in my mind that D-ko is, indeed, that kind of girl.
I just hope she doesn't catch anything...

Ozma, you have a copy of the official strategy guide, right? Actually, didn't there used to be scans up in the Empty Movement gallery? Also, re: "Love Love" events. Apparently you activate Miki and Saionji's by talking to them the night of the 23rd and then bringing them cake, but is it the same for Juri and Touga?
Yeah, I actually bought it because I found the first thread. It made me want to play the game, so I popped it into my Saturn...and discovered my battery had died, taking all my saves with it. Also my Japanese had horribly atrophied, which meant I needed help getting through it again.
There did indeed used to be scans. Juri's last two pages were missing, IIRC.
Love-Love Events: Miki's can also be activated by not giving him cake and then talking to him in the Music Room. For Juri, you have to talk to her after the Student Council Meeting the afternoon of the 24th. I'm not sure if there is more to it than that. As for Touga, nothing's marked in language I can easily understand as being the trigger, so I'm gonna go with this:
Touga:
I see... that's worrying.
Then, if it's all right with you,
how about sleeping in my room tonight?
I could protect you during the night.
Oh Touga, you smooth operator, you.
Offline
*sigh* okay, I give in to peer pressure. And the reality of Ohtori. D-ko IS that kind of girl
And I, too, hope she does not catch anything.
Offline
We are totally that kind of girl.
Touga:
Well, either way, isn't it about time to go inside?
You invited me over, didn't you?
And I brought over this specially-ordered Southern Italian soy sauce.
Utena:
European soy sauce?
(Isn't that kind of weird)?
Yes, yes that is very weird. In fact I'm pretty sure Sicilians don't use soy sauce at all, Touga. But that's okay, why don't you come spend the night in my room? I'll keep you safe from your own gross ignorance about Italian cuisine.

God, that's salty.

Hahahaha now I feel less chagrined about thinking about dripping soy sauce on to Touga and licking it off... the kicker is I don't even like soy sauce.
Damn hoariness and heat rendering me more illogical than normally am.

Ah, so it can! The conversation about the letter just replaces the "first action" conversation, and then you get the opportunity to proceed to the second as normal.
Not-so-shockingly, D-ko instantly agrees to Touga's proposal.
D-ko:
I... is that really alright?
Thank you!
Utena:
H, hey...
If you go to this guy's room,
you have no idea what might happen!
Oh, don't we?
Touga:
Such harsh words.
Could you possibly be jealous?
Utena:
No way!
Nanami:
He's just joking, right?
Inviting a worthless girl from who-knows-where like her to our house.
Touga:
You're going a bit too far, Nanami.
Nanami:
But, big brother...!
Touga:
Well, it's fine.
It's still a while before night.
Please think it over.
My door will be unlocked.
D-ko:
Um, sure...
I... I wonder if it's seriously okay to do that.
Then maybe, tonight I could... ah!
Yes, D-ko. I think we all get the implication.
Meanwhile, Nanami expresses doubts as to D-ko's lineage using the sort of phrase that an angry father might use when objecting to his daughter's suitor. Priceless.
TOUGA +1
53% -> 61% (+8%)
Shadow Girls:
I wonder, I wonder, do you know what I wonder?
A-ko:
Night is the time to perform fairy tales!
Long, long ago, in a certain place,
there was a prince, and a princess,
and an evil queen.
B-ko:
Hmm, hmm.
A-ko:
The evil queen grew rich through her powerful magic.
She had status, and fame, too.
B-ko:
Ahh... I'm so jealous!
A-ko:
But, the only place her hand couldn't reach was the prince's heart.
Therefore...
B-ko:
Hold on a minute!
A-ko:
What is it? We're just getting to the good part!
B-ko:
You're doing great, but I can't see your performance at all.
A-ko:
Oh, no!!!
Seeking to touch the prince's heart, the Evil Queen turned to the power of song! She practiced long and hard on her favorite stringed instrument. However, the prince turned out to totally hate Hawaiian music! Her heart broken, the Evil Queen died, but her spirit lingered. And so, the resentful ukulele haunts this world even now. Beware! Beware! She is still somewhere in this world. You, too, beware!
I'll bet that's exactly how the rest of the story goes.
D-ko:
For some reason, I can't sleep.
I guess a lot of things happened today...
I wonder what I should do? Is there anything I can do, all by myself?
Back at the masquerade, the masked person said...
that I would disappear.
Is that true...? Could it possibly be true?
Maybe, before I disappear tomorrow, I should go talk with someone...?
CHOICE:
Utena (UTENA +2)
Touga (TOUGA +3)
Saionji (SAIONJI +5)
Juri (JURI +5)
Miki (MIKI +3)
Don't discuss it with anyone (No points, but it is a valid choice and something does happen)
Who shall we run to in the middle of the night, to quell our fears? (Once again, don't worry about points. They're irrelevant now.)

I cracked up when I saw the last pic of the group having dinner, because the placement of Touga's points wreath thing was very nicely placed on top of D-ko, so it looks like they have become some sort of superbeing combining the two. Oh, the possibilities of what could happen with a being that was suave and trying to get into your pants, all the while dancing the slippery mambo.
Since she's such a fine, brilliant young lady brimming with great advice, I say we should ask Utena.
Sarcasm aside, I still say to talk to her

I wanna know what Saionji's going to do at night that counts for +5 points.
But weren't you going to go to Touga's room? I kinda want follow up on that.

If we choose Touga here, we do indeed follow up on that.

Let's do it. I like that the implication of fucking him so far only earns her three points.

Touga
This can only end well.
Offline
Damn it! But I worry about points anyway! Juri and Saionji, 5 points? Wow... I wonder what happens there..
But.. I do kind of want to follow up with Touga's offer, just to see how far it goes.. so I'll vote Touga for now but may change my mind later if people have better ideas. I kind of like them all.. and the option not to talk to anyone..
Offline
Touga, and if all else fails, Saionji.
Seriously. Win or loose, I would love to know what on earth is worthy of 5 points in Saionji's book.
IS HE CAMP'N IN HIS APRON??
Offline
Utena.

For Juri, D-ko gets her locket back. Maybe for Saionji she retrieves his exchange diary?

Juri or Utena. I'd be happy with either.

Touga! After all the previous discussion, how could we not?

Touga...FTW!

Pick Utena!

I kind of want to see what happens if we see nobody...

I do want to see what happens if we choose nobody, but I'm too intrigued by more Touga time...
