Ha ha, am totally down with you on that one. In fact, I just find Mikage in general damn sexy, even when he's scaring the hell out of me (which is most noticeable for me in the scene with Utena in front of the pictures, where he turns around to face Utena with a total Children of the Corn smirk and calls her Tokiko...I still find it fucking sexy ).

One of the reasons why I appreciate Akio as a character is that he puts a genuinely sinister spin on the "charismatic supernatural love interest" archetype, that he's not portrayed as repentant or "misunderstood," but still manages to be interesting and compelling.

But I agree that the scene in which he and Utena are in bed is much, much more disturbing than it is sexy.  And that every single scene between Mikage and Mamiya is both disturbing AND sexy, especially the one that Grell mentioned.

Seconding the Kozue/Anthy scene. When I first saw it I wasn't sure whether to get hot or to get bothered. It's disturbing, what with the many levels of inappropriate and Anthy's sad/blank expression, but it's one of the very few times we see Kozue display any sort of tenderness. Think about it; all the scenes we have of her gettin' it on are aggressive in nature, but the one scene with in the car, her hand touching Anthy's face so, so gently... One could make an argument based on that; that like Juri, Kozue is trying desperately to compensate for repressed bisexual/lesbian desires.

No, definitely nothing weird about that. Touga being used...for any purpose, against his will, is aces by me. Bonus points for the sexualness. I wonder if in the adult version she didn't play with his peepee a little too.

I'm with Katz on the whole Wakaba restraining Utena with the sword to her throat bit. That episode in general is amazing (one of my favorites in the whole series), but I'm so guilty of getting horribly distracted by Wakaba in a duelist uniform being forceful with her best friend. >___> *ahem*

I was also secretly wishing Juri would've kissed the stunned Utena instead of yelling at her.

As fucked up as it might sound, I actually found the whole Anthy betrayal moment in 39 both incredibly heart-wrenching as well as incredibly sexy. I know it's a hugely spoiler thought and I don't see any way to do a spoiler code so for the sake of those that for some reason haven't seen the whole series, don't look at my next few images.

We get Anthy pressing herself close to Utena for what it looks like comfort, appearing to kiss the pauldron of her duelist uniform:



Then of course the actual betrayal happens once Utena's guard is slightly wavering with Anthy close. The fact that she then pushes the sword in deeper while holding Utena against her...



The part that does tend to distract me the most is when Anthy is laying over the now prone and wounded Utena, speaking softly to her in a rather cold and slightly forceful voice:



As I said, I know considering one of the most emotional scenes in the series to be arousing might be wrong, but I never claimed to be a saint.

I couldn't agree more on Utena being feisty also being quite exciting. For some reason whenever she draws the sword from Anthy (and when they both draw the sword from her) and then gets all shouty and determined, I can't help but swoon.


I absolutely love the fact that you posted a picture of the unedited kiss from the second closing.
